- Paal, on 05/27/2009, -0/+28I'll be shocked if ABC actually supports this show.
Do I really have to bring up The Critic or Clerks: The Animated Series? - BeShirtHappy, on 05/27/2009, -5/+26With Mike Judge's name behind it, it's gotta be good. Actually when I first saw the commercials for "Goode Family" I thought it sounded "good".
- pacerx, on 05/27/2009, -0/+16Mike Judge will find a way.
Most of the humor in KotH comes from having solid characters and I'm sure the characters will be interesting in this show. - ArthurSucks, on 05/27/2009, -1/+16The Goodes will be funny in the exaggeration of environmentally cautious people in the same way the King of the Hill was ( I hope ) an exaggeration of Texans.
- inactive, on 05/27/2009, -1/+16Dugg for Ubuntu Goode.
- solboldi, on 05/27/2009, -0/+13Beavis and Butthead....Office Space...these are based in sarcasm and biting humor. How is a recycling family going to be humorous?
- Cancerkitty, on 05/27/2009, -1/+12I thought the concept sounded good, but the commercials I've seen for it have been pretty underwhelming. Still, Mike Judge has a hell of a track record.
- kildurin, on 05/27/2009, -0/+11No, King of the Hill is not an exaggeration. I was born and raised here and there is a lot more truth to it than you would imagine. There are many Arlen's in Texas and there are a lot of all those characters here. Peggy is the only one that to me has never really fit.
There was one episode where they show a resturant chain here in Texas called Pancho's. It was so spot on it makes me laugh every time I see it.
You may see humor in what goes on but those of us who know see humor in seeing our neighbors portrayed in a cartoon. And yes, we laugh at our neighbors antics too. - PsychoPNut, on 05/27/2009, -1/+11buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book! buy my book!
- bobburn1, on 05/27/2009, -2/+11Mike Judge > Seth MacFarlane could ever hope of being.
- billizm, on 05/27/2009, -0/+9It stinks!
- danwallace, on 05/27/2009, -0/+8Well hello there, Linda Cardellini.
- AmyVernon, on 05/27/2009, -1/+9I know. I think it's probably a hard show to get across in a commercial. I'm gonna give it a shot for a few weeks. Hell, it's summer. Not much else on anyhow. :-)
- inactive, on 05/27/2009, -1/+8I went to a small liberal arts college, so I know droves of people like that.
- diggwut, on 05/27/2009, -3/+10"“The Goode Family” is a send-up of a clan of environmentalists who live by the words “What would Al Gore do?” Gerald and Helen Goode want nothing more than to minimize their carbon footprint. They feed their dog, Che, only veggies (much to the pet’s dismay) and Mr. Goode dutifully separates sheets of toilet paper when his wife accidentally buys two-ply. And, of course, the family drives a hybrid."
haha - TheUngod, on 05/27/2009, -0/+6This is going to be funny in the same way the Colbert Report is funny, only the opposite. It takes a family to the point of being so extreme it's funny.
- TheNik, on 05/27/2009, -0/+6Surprisingly, Clerks has been re-aired on Adult Swim. I never thought I'd see it on TV again considering I rarely saw it on TV when it was new.
- markgl, on 05/27/2009, -2/+8Because environmentalist are nuttier than squirrel turds.
- aurorous, on 05/27/2009, -4/+9He managed to find a way to make fun of conservative Texans for 13 years. He's an equal opportunity offender.
Of course it's never funny when it makes fun of you is it?
Olbermann calls Mike Judge a evil tool of conservatism in 5...4...3...2... - bobburn1, on 05/27/2009, -2/+7It's making fun of the diehard "greens." Perhaps you should "read" before commenting.
- davidjunit, on 05/27/2009, -0/+5The bike guy is VanDreason's voice from Beavis & Butt-head. I wish Mike Judge would have more old character appearances in his newer shows. Buzz cut, the bus driver, Principal McVicker, etc. heheh
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 05/27/2009, -1/+6I would like to see it this series succeed, but we all know its going to sink like a lesbian seagull.
- bman1984, on 05/27/2009, -1/+5Right. Just like King of the Hill?
- TheUngod, on 05/27/2009, -3/+7If they want to live by "What would Al Gore do?" they need to stop manbearpig.
- RavagesOfTime, on 05/27/2009, -0/+4This looks like a series based around the prototypical 'twig boy' that would move into Arlen, TX and try and change things before Ol' Hank had to set everything 'right' again.
That said, Mike Judge is funny. - solid12345, on 05/27/2009, -1/+5I am NOT gay!!!
- inactive, on 05/27/2009, -3/+7Wow. This is gonna make ABC that much better.
- freeridstylee, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3How do you know it won't have strong characterization? Have you seen the first season or something?
- solid12345, on 05/27/2009, -2/+5So which character will sound exactly like Tom Andersen and Hank Hill in this one?
- papacheesy, on 05/27/2009, -1/+4I really, really hope this show survives. ABC placing it in the desert of summer programming shows that we might have to raise hell to keep it going.
- Paal, on 05/27/2009, -3/+6because he's making fun of the hippies, watch the trailers
- d3dm, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3Pancho's? Raise the flag!
- mlvassallo, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2I really enjoy Mike Judge and most everything he does... but I just watched the Promo and you would think Nancy Carrell would have noticed the "colored greens" joke was almost verbatim from one of the early episodes of her husband's hit show The Office...
- misstingting, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2Is it just me or does this remind anyone else of King of the Hill? (I say that as someone who liked King of the Hill.) It's a family with a strong set of values (albeit a different set of values) who are also naively set on doing the right thing and have a silly idolatry of specific things in their lives. And one of the parents has a father who is offensive and racist.
- Spamiclese, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2From Wikipedia: The show will premiere on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the 9pm hour. It will also premiere in Canada on Citytv.
- wpc33, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2Can you play a guitar like you're ringin' a bell?
- ZombieSociety, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2...why are we walking like this?
- digitul, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2the critic wasn't bad. that and capital critters were both decent
- bman1984, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2My last name is Goode too. I am not related to any other Goodes though, except my father, mother, brother, and sister due to the fact that Goode isnt my father's real last name.
- Balanced, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2I'd guess this is intended to be satirical.
- joshf52, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1I hope you mean her voice actor, Linda Cardellini.
- catalysis, on 05/27/2009, -6/+7I predict this will have the same fate as all conservative comedy shows. The first show will be funny, but then they will quickly run out of material and resort to jokes that are more ideological and less comical. You can only make so many jokes about CFL lights and reusable grocery bags, and even then it only appeals to a certain segment of the population. Anti-war jokes during a time of war, when soldier's coffins are still being shipped back, are more polarizing than they are funny.
- P522, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1Great! An encyclopedia to do the work of TV guide!
- Rain12913, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1I don't know about you, but I haven't seen many prime-time cartoon characters with comparable bodies: http://www.mnn.com/sites/default/files/user-1071/1 ...
And yes, Linda Cardellini is hot as well. - esc27, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2It has its moments. Not too terrible for summer TV, but will need to improve substantially to survive past that.
- Mothh, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1The first thing I thought when I saw the preview was, "Oh, they gave Mr. Van Driesen his own series." I'm guessing Mike Judge doesn't own the rights, otherwise he would have used his name in the title.
- TimDigg, on 05/27/2009, -1/+2weird my last name is Goode and I have never ever heard of anyone outside my family with that name...
- ZombieSociety, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1This is necessary: http://www.lahiguera.net/cinemania/actores/linda_c ...
- warplayer, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1Thanks for the reminder... time to dig out the box set.
