- Ratteler, on 03/23/2009, -1/+26Every time I see that new Trademark.... I think "Syphilis."
- Bamboolemur, on 03/23/2009, -0/+17You know: they could always bring back Firefly!
:( - kukurio, on 03/23/2009, -0/+15Here's hoping that at least one of them is good. Given Sci-Fi channel's abysmal crap-to-goodness ratio, I don't exactly have high hopes. Luckily, at least none of them are awful reality shows or B-movies.
- AjaxtheGoat, on 03/23/2009, -0/+10I like the idea for Riverworld, I'll tune in . . . in a Year :-/
- badqat, on 03/23/2009, -1/+11Sci-Fi? I thought it was now the "less geeky" Sy-Fy...lol.
- FI5HERMAN, on 03/23/2009, -0/+10Alice.......come on down for the winter, Riverworld & the Phantom should be here next year. Then why don't they Get all the oldies and bring them all to life in the summer !!!
- Lst01, on 03/23/2009, -0/+7"It's not a guy in purple tights."
Does that mean their Phantom won't have a costume? Or is he just not familiar with the character? - protogenxl, on 03/23/2009, -0/+61. Didn't the already do a Riverworld Movie?
2. The Shadow is cooler than The Phantom.
3. Bring back MST3K the reason why the show was getting to expensive was licensing broadcast rights to the movies but now Sci-Fi already has the rights to thousands of god awful movies. - oboshoe, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7It will be tough to replace BSG.
Writing that good doesn't come along everyday. - moofree, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Where's the Chronicles of Amber miniseries you promised ages ago, SciFi?
- Gerfervonbob, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Now that BSG is over I found that the new show Kings on NBC has filled in gap quite nicely.
If you live in the US and haven't seen it yet, you should give it a shot by watching the first episode on Hulu. http://www.hulu.com/watch/62546/kings-goliath-part ... - inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5If "Alice" is anything like that crazy video game, then count me in. Should be awesome.
- AmusedToDeath, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Hands down, one of the stupidest re-branding efforts ever. WIth the monkeys that run that place it's a frakking miracle BSG ever got made in the first place.
- slicky803, on 03/23/2009, -1/+6Redo Space: Above and Beyond!
I mean...with McQueen not being busy with 24 anymore and all... I'm sure it'd work out. - TwwIX, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5They already did Riverworld in 2003 and failed miserably. Why do it again?
- bytor4232, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4Dude, I LOVE Kings. Ian McShane is awesome, and the guy who plays Reverend Samuels sends shivers up my spine.
- kukurio, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4Don't you mean "Syfylis?"
- vishnumittal, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4 nteresting!
- BLyday, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4Let's hope they give these shows a little bit better treatment than their awesome Sci-Fi original movies. I'm still waiting for Mansquito the Series.
- bagboyrebel, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5In fact, why try to improve on anything. Everything is already as good as it will ever be, so no point in trying.
- gramathy, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3IF the alice in wonderland mini is anything like the Wizard of Oz mini they did, it could be good.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Hmm. I thought I'd already seen a movie or something of riverworld. I remember the premises anyway. I'd certainly look forward to a miniseries.
- darkphenox, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Is it July yet? no, then its still Sci-Fi
- acdcfanbill, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3As a fan of The Phantom even though the live action film was kind of crap and the futuristic animated series was ok but currently unavailable, I'm decidedly worried at this adaptation if the guy working on it doesn't even understand the costume.
- Maddoktor2, on 03/24/2009, -1/+4Gorram right!
- protogenxl, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Don't worry they will just change everything
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310952/ - Vosem, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3Seriously. If ANYTHING could keep people tuned into SciFi (***** the re-branding), it would definitely be Firefly.
This should be a no-frakking-brainer. - GiggleStick, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Bring back "HeatVision & Jack"!
- EtherGnat, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3They've been trying for years. It keeps getting reworked and postponed. I wouldn't hold your breath, although I think it'd be awesome! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466663/
- d3dm, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2SyFy???? Sigh, why?
- Unimatrix0, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3Now that BSG is done and over, I am done and over with SCI-FI, or SYFY or whatever dumbass marketing gimmic that they name themselves. BSG was the only truly serious sci-fi show they have ever had...ever WILL have. This crap they are "green lighting" is just that crap. And from what I have seen of the previews of "Caprica"...well...they might as just save themselves that money because its gonna tank.
- ericdano, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2SyFy, please reboot the Blake's 7 series. It could be your next BSG.
- protogenxl, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3MST3K?
- mradoc, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2I've done the same. It's not bad.
- Yage2006, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2Well none of these are gonna please the same fan base.
It's like replacing sushi with a tuna salad. - RobotBuddha, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Failed movies with a good idea are the only things worth doing remakes of.
- rebrad, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Riverworld, if done right, could be a great series. The book was the best of it's time. However, if they do it like the bad movie they aired then it would be better to not waste the resources.
- flawedprefect, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2Riverworld was available on Joost (probably still is) as a tele-movie. But it only incorporated one or two of the novels and didn't explore the larger parts in regards to <spoilers> the alien race which made this mechanism possible </spoilers>
Hey - Cameron Daddo was in it! - missjb, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2one of my favs. I'll give it a shot
- anubis2night, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2They should have just done a series off of Lost Room after that I've stopped having faith in Sci Fi Channel
- Andrwmorph, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2When I saw the movie Riverworld on Scifi like 4+ years ago it felt like it was just a big intro to a tv show.
- impedance101, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Someone should make American McGee's Alice into a series or movie.
- gsthomas606, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2Y for one love SyFy efforts to keep me and my famyly safe from the vycyous and dysgustyng letter "I"
- oboshoe, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2I'm wondering if there won't be a followup based on the centurians who left 150,000 years ago.
Seems like a good writer could do something with that backstory. - jjc5004, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2A movie adaptation of American McGee's Alice is supposedly in production for release in 2010.
- Greedfeed, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Capitalizing The First Letter Of Every Word Is The New Cruise Control To Cool
- jpop, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2I have no confidence that the Siffy channel will get anything good... After all, Sci-Fi isn't the demographic they're looking to meet anymore.
- NickUrsis, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Sounds like they need to change the name to the SciYawn Network instead. There are so many damned fine SF book series out there. How about the #1 SF book franchise, David Weber's Honor Harrington series? You could do a year for each book in the series and there are a LOT of books in the series and the HonorVerse. Or Ben Bova's planet series. David Drake's Lt. Leary series. Even go back to Bill Baldwin's Helmsman series. And on and on. There is so much good material. This isn't rocket science. Or, talk to a rocket scientist like Travis Taylor and his *hard* SF books.
And we get Mansquito and the ghost/ufo or whatever somebody bump me with the IR camera on and try to sound scared idiotic POC garbage. Oh, and like all SF fans really can't wait for wrestling.
Why is it that the IQ's of this channel's management is inversely proportional to that of the supposed audience it is trying to reach?
What a waste. - DrRetro, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1Well that answers the "What am I going to watch now" question.
- Darksoul, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1See I have a love/hate, kind of thing for the SciFi channel they canceled Farscape then after we all bitched gave us the peacekeeper wars. I was mad when they stop'ed caring about Stargate Atlantis and let it get bad now we have Stargate Universe I am looking foward to but something in the back of my brain keeps telling me don't trust the SciFi channel. And who knows how well Caprica will do and with them changing their name to syfy makes me want to gag. It really seems after that new person that runs the network now took over it has gotten worse and worse and moved away from Sci-Fi.
And those god awful made for tv movies they have done are even worse I seriously wish some other network would take the stargate license from them. All these idea's sound horrible. -
