- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+12I remember when TV Land used to play different old shows, now they just play the same 3 or 4 shows over and over all day.
- RealmDown, on 04/28/2008, -1/+9Yeah, how about Time Tunnel, Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, The Invaders, or hell even Space 1999.
SOMEBODY has to replace the wrestling/horror channel still inaccurately named "Sci-Fi Channel" so let's start retro. - daithiocoinnigh, on 04/28/2008, -0/+7Bring back Quantum Leap!
- Steeple, on 04/28/2008, -0/+6banana splits
- HesNikke, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5um, the wrestling/horror channel also has the space/fantasy/drama that is Battlestar Galactica on the air... it just makes no sense if you haven't seen it from the beginning...
- crowbar77, on 04/28/2008, -0/+5I miss matlock, that old guy was alright.
- davewashere, on 04/28/2008, -0/+4Even worse than the same old shows on TV Land (which plays Sanford and Son or The Beverly Hillbillies about 12 hours per day) is the introduction of reality shows to the channel. Why does a channel originally devoted to classic TV shows need a reality show about a bunch of annoying people who went to the same high school 20 years ago? This is a dead era for television, with just a handful of shows that will ever be considered classic. The internet and reality shows have destroyed the medium. Frankly, I don't give a damn who Brett Michaels hooks up with this week, next week, or ever. Don't even get me started on those hookers from Flavor of Love or that slut from MySpace.
- gkiltz, on 04/28/2008, -0/+4If only that problem were limited to TV Land. It seems to be television in general now! There is no more actual money spent on programming!
Stations like the Discovery Science Channel, and the other channels under the Discovery umbrella it seem purchase one batch of shows when they open up the network, and then they just round-and-round through the same circuit, until people would have to be paid to watch! Then, out come the Brain-dead infomercials! - roodammy44, on 04/28/2008, -0/+4POW!!
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+3Quantum Leap is on ION, if you get thet channel.
- RealmDown, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2And some Stargate, I'll grant you; however, BSG + Stargate + occasional movie = 10% of quality leaving us with 90% of non-sci-fi CRAP.
- kmb1794, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2did we really need the NYtimes to tell us this?
- graemee, on 04/28/2008, -2/+4"Free", what DRM cancer will they use? I figure they'll just put out a season or two to get people to buy the DVD's.
- Licurgo, on 04/28/2008, -1/+3the damn warner bros take down my batman episodes in youtube
i was trying to bring those fastastic tunes to the new generations - CarStan, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2its not working outside the U.S.
- jcorn1, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2Wow, the Rifleman, Fury, Sky King, Naked City (yeah, there was a noir show by that name) Rin Tin Tin, Howdy Doody, would love to see repeats of those.
- gkiltz, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2Not bad, but SOOOOO much has been lost!
The entire archive of the DuMont Television Network was melted for silver recycling.
Over half of film footage more than 50 years old is already gone!
We are losing so much of our cultural history! - kevinsmail23, on 04/28/2008, -1/+2Buck Rodgers, the Rifleman. the Prisoner, Get Smart, F-Troop, Mork and Mindy, Welcome Back Kotter. But don't bring back Happy Days.
- yunus, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Wow, after years of trying to convince TV studios and content owners that if you release it on the Internet you will still make money, it finally happens. I see this as a viable alternative to torrents for any show available.
I'm sure the execs will take full credit for the idea though. - psyclonic, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1I won't be happy until I see those Saturday morning episodes of "Hot Dog" - Woody Allen, Jonathan Winters, Jo Ann Worley were great - only one season though, 1970. Each half-hour show had two segments - perfect for the web. Are you listening NBC?
- Frostek, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Grandpa Simpson approves this message...
- RealmDown, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1and Seven Days!
- Shakermaker, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1I'd love to see them start showing The Little Rascals again on TV....
- harrydirty, on 04/28/2008, -2/+3Yeah until you screwed it up.
- jedinate, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Some one has to find Land of the Lost and put that online.
- s810, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Old shows have been on p2p and torrent networks for 10 years. The only thing that's new is that the networks don't show reruns/repeats nearly as much as before so they can sell crappy low-res reruns on sites like HULU.
But what's the point in paying for old episodes of a show on a site like HULU when some guy on LimeWire or BitTorrent is giving away a DRM free copy of the same show with better video and sound quality that he ripped from a VCR tape 5 years ago?
It's more likely than you think. - jedinate, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1No one I know, from Florida, has ever heard of them. Classic!
- davewashere, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Fonz be with you
- TargetDog, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1Buried for not liking the Fonz.
- starpage85, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0Online TV is way better and more convenient, you just have to find a good website. Here is one I really like it's got over 1000 free channels in different languages:
