- alanocu, on 11/03/2009, -3/+64What people do and watch in their own homes is their business. If this company wants to expand their video business, they have every right to do so without a senator or the government sticking their nose in our business.
- novenator, on 11/03/2009, -1/+49I spent some time in the middle and near east. One of my favorite memories was seeing guys who were used to see women swim in Burqas go to a topless beach in Eilat. I thought there was going to be a riot.
Sheltering our species from the natural form of itself is counterproductive, and probably leads to greater psychological damage than mere cultural repression. - gankige, on 11/03/2009, -2/+40They're protesting free speech. Lovely.
- heliumflash, on 11/04/2009, -3/+31Don't you guys know that seeing a bare breast will make you start doubting the Bible!?!?!?
- XopherMV, on 11/04/2009, -2/+21I thought the Republicans were all about the free market. So, they should be all for this. Let the utility add these channels. If the free market decides that it doesn't want porn, then those channels won't be popular and they'll eventually get removed.
Even if this station was privately owned, the "critics" would still object. The main problem they have is the fact that porn is now available through their TV, not that they'll watch it. Their problem is that other people may watch it and have a good time. And, of course, those other people should never be allowed to just do what they want. Good, bible-faring Christians want to live according to their beliefs and make everyone else live according to their beliefs.
Personal freedom? Not at the expense of letting someone else do something that angers baby Jesus. No, we'll use the centralized control to block content just like the communists. - elliotys, on 11/04/2009, -1/+19Who the ***** would pay to see MTV?
- Maddoktor2, on 11/03/2009, -3/+20What happened to the free Speech you're always shouting from the mountaintops, GOP?
Oh, wait...it only applies to you, right? - BluBerryGTI, on 11/03/2009, -0/+17Naked... i like naked
- NightC, on 11/04/2009, -2/+16It's getting out of control in this country.
I heard a story today that these 14 year old girls took pictures of themselves, not even naked, in underwear, and they were kicked out of all extra curricular activities and suspended from school, DESPITE the fact that it happened over the summer and had nothing to do with school, and they have every right to be in their underwear. No, I do not support child porn, nor do I think the pictures should be sent around the internet, news, etc. but I do support the girl's right to do whatever they want with their bodies in their private lives. When I was 14 I was fooling around with girls that were 14, does that mean I should have been kicked out of school?
So now in America, you can't smoke pot, be naked, or even look at someone naked, and the list goes on and on.
Land of the FREE home of the BRAVE. (But not free to be/look at naked people, smoke pot, and not brave enough to allow others to do so.) - juliusthecat, on 11/04/2009, -1/+13We don't give a rats ass what other web 2.0 social networking sites this showed up on first. It isn't a competition. It isn't like fark generated this content. And much like reddit, I'm not there because of the ***** layout and the ***** on the message boards, thank you very much!

- IllBeBack, on 11/04/2009, -1/+12Oh no! I saw a boobie and then I stopped believing in the invisible man in the sky!
/s - lead2thehead, on 11/04/2009, -3/+11Without reading the article, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it was not a Democrat who had a problem with this.
- abraxsis, on 11/04/2009, -2/+10I AGREE, If those people in the South want to see a naked woman they can go down to their sister's room like everyone else does down there. Watching nekkid wemmin on the talky box ... my Lawd, what will they think of next.
- juliusthecat, on 11/04/2009, -2/+9I can cherry pick the quotes that suit me too:
"Under those circumstances, courts have held that government identities CAN’T arbitrarily edit their entertainment offerings."
Actually, this is just some ex-state senator republican ass hole who needs to mind his own business. That's the only reason it is a controversy, because for some reason we as a country won't just ignore these idiots when they raise their voice to control what you can do. - CrackyJSquirrel, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Seeing your sister naked?
- Parrappa, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6I love boobs.
- abraxsis, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Taking yer sister on a date?
- jrm125, on 11/04/2009, -1/+7I heard somewhere that people aren't naked when they're born. God hates nudity.
- ippey, on 11/03/2009, -4/+10"Critics object to a government-owned utility putting out what they say is pornography."
Actually, the Government owns the utility. That's sort of why there's a controversy. - GoAheadEagles, on 11/04/2009, -1/+7Playboy doesn't have incest-genre videos. Otherwise the Playboy Channel would've been down there before slavery was abolished.
- Drakfire, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6I pray he does not learn about what you can see on the internet then.
- bubba9999, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6This is the worst thing that's ever happened in the 6000 year history of this planet.
- eternal464, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5RTFA.
I can see where the critics are coming from. But it seems to me like itd be okay with the proper protections in place - AiR1890, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6This world would be so much better without republicans, conservatives, religion. It would still be a bad place, but a lot less bad, and you would be able to see big breasts on tv, and you would not get some idiot family group bitching about the morale degration of America because your kid saw big ***** on tv. Well maybe if religion did exsist, but eventually was regarded as the ***** it is, by then people would evolve to the point where they would not want to kill and rape each other.
- Amadeus2490, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Let's be fair: Rape and murders happen every day, and religion has little or nothing to do with it. There will ALWAYS be people who're insane enough to be a Jack The Ripper or Jeffrey Dahmer.
- Louken, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6Who the ***** watches it anyway?
- elliotys, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5I agree, smoking pot, and looking at porn, despite what these ***** think, is about as american as it gets.
- iheartbakon, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5(⊙⋏⊙)
- x2wenty4x, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4People need to stop being so uptight.
- PCMichiana, on 11/03/2009, -7/+11Buried for misleading title, the controversy is over public sector pornography, not private sector. Legitimate debate (not saying I approve or disapprove).
- Taiyoryu, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4Next thing you know they'll be demanding that questionable books in the Library of Congress be burned. There should be an automatic litmus test for any bill. If it legislates morality, it should be dismissed immediately with extreme prejudice. Any existing laws on the books that fail the litmus test should immediately be repealed. Party of liberty, my ass.
- tehknotte, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3its just giving people what they want. the people down south will secretly look up their computer pornos on the google anyway.
- johndavidjack, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3I'm not even going to bother reading the article, but I figured there would be some redneck jokes, so this was a semi-entertaining thread.
- czarcasm, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Cousin humping?
- wtrwlkr, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2dugg for boobies.
- johndavidjack, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3Dude, you missed a new episode of The City where they all commit mass suicide.
- IllBeBack, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3John Lennon had it right in that song (Imagine) back in 1971, and that is for sure.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagine_%28song%29 - juliusthecat, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3RTFA you ***** (the last line completely invalidates you point):
"Under those circumstances, courts have held that government identities CAN’T arbitrarily edit their entertainment offerings." - johndavidjack, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2"Actually, the Government owns the utility. That's sort of why there's a controversy."
Yeah, and hopefully the release Nailin' Palin II. - novenator, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Did my use of technology tip you off?
- elliotys, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3I'm pretty I see a bunch of BOOBS on C-span everyday.
- mehan, on 11/04/2009, -2/+4What the ***** is MTV?
- ippey, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1@juliusthecat
Wasn't cherry picking a quote and I made no reference as to if it was justified or not. Alanocu was saying that the government shouldn't stick their nose in a company's business when in fact it is a government owned entity that is sticking their nose in their own business. - ippey, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Never complained about it showing up somewhere first. It's a news aggregate site, it happens. Copying and pasting the headline that a Fark subby did indeed generate them-self is all I was "complaining" about.
- Kinsbane, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Stories like this amuse the ***** out of me, especially when it involves something sexual. I guess it's all convenient that they forget Sodom, and how a father who was hosting two angels gave up two virgins for the village when the village wanted to rape the angels. Then when the village said no, that's not good enough, God blew up the entire ***** town and LET THE MAN WHO OFFERED UP HIS TWO VIRGIN UNMARRIED DAUGHTERS FOR GANGBANGS WALK OUT OF THE ***** VILLAGE.
Way to go, hypocrites. - nj10ii, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1I dont know quite about that, but Fap Fap Fap Fap.
- Suricou, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Socialism!!!
/s - johndavidjack, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1It's kind of like the "Nickleback sucks" comments. People love to rip on MTV.
- clip68, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Just to clarrify, The Electric Power Board was created to sell electricity produced by TVA to the consumer market. The EPB is fully government owned. Being from the city in question, I'm truly embarrassed to see yet another bible thumping idiot trying to set other's morals. I believe being an adult, I can determine for myself what I should and shouldn't watch, listen to, or participate in. I could always *gasp* turn the channel.
