- crackyflipside, on 10/24/2009, -0/+227People of Earth, this is Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace planning council. As you are probably aware, plans for the development of the outlying regions of the galaxy involve the building of a hyperspace express route through your star system... and, unfortunately, your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes. Thank you.
- iwashere2, on 10/24/2009, -1/+154How did Roy get up those church steps?
- Neolite, on 10/24/2009, -10/+153Needs Will Smith punching aliens in the face.
- zephc, on 10/24/2009, -1/+111Welcome to EARF!
- CourageWulf, on 10/23/2009, -7/+98Can't wait for this. They need more ScFi shows that set the bar high.
- daEvan, on 10/24/2009, -1/+92Jesus.
- one1plus1one, on 10/24/2009, -1/+90I for one welcome our giant-hot-chick-face-in-the-sky aliens.
- Maddoktor2, on 10/24/2009, -1/+89Well, companions are ambassadors, after all.
- wsupdigg, on 10/24/2009, -2/+72Long time troll, but I registered almost solely to ask HOW DID THAT GUY IN THE WHEELCHAIR END UP HALFWAY UP THE CHURCH STEPS?
- thechilipepper0, on 10/24/2009, -1/+64Don't Panic.
- Genobeam, on 10/24/2009, -0/+58I'll be in my bunk...
- one1plus1one, on 10/24/2009, -4/+61One of the things I liked about the movie, District-9, this summer, is that it demonstrated what humanity might really do to aliens who appeared over our skies.
In an amazing theme-reversal, the movie District-9, demonstrated that the true monster beyond is likely not to be the aliens, but rather humans, given our history of savagery and violence.
Battlestar Galactica also took us away from the robots-are-monsters theme, and blurred the line between who is the good-guy and who is the bad-guy.
I suspect this new V-series will simply be a return to the more cliche "Aliens are Monsters" theme.
However, having said that I was very drawn in and intrigued by this clip. I hate to admit but I'm already hooked! ... So far so good... I think I just might be watching this... - thechilipepper0, on 10/24/2009, -0/+55So, does this mean Juliette is dead for sure?
- TheKriket, on 10/24/2009, -2/+57This one looks interesting. It's gonna be one of those shows that is either really good or really bad.
- MyKillK, on 10/24/2009, -0/+36Those fully geared and armed soldiers sure got there fast!
- ChuckDees, on 10/24/2009, -0/+33I remember watching the original as child. It was awesome for being the early 80's.
Can't wait for the new version hopefully it won't suck or get canceled. They don't give shows that much time for success any more. - stupidverizon, on 10/24/2009, -1/+32I will only watch this because of Juliet from Lost. What a milf.
- FattyCorpuscle, on 10/23/2009, -1/+32It's not gonna be the same without the animatronic doubles with the creepy jaw action to capture the majesty that is Marc Singer.
- MacHarborGuy, on 10/24/2009, -3/+33Law 158394855.33: Don't go to Earth.
Law 158394855.34: If it exists, there is porn of it.
Law 158394855.35: ?????
Law 158394855.36: Profit - mailboxing, on 10/24/2009, -0/+29Firefly will never die.
- kafka47, on 10/24/2009, -1/+30And aren't fighter pilots still belted to their chairs when they eject?
- pizzaface200, on 10/24/2009, -0/+28Not all of their clients are men.
- bossm4n, on 10/24/2009, -1/+28And a host of other continuity issues or poor decisions shown in this short clip, like the military/national guard showing up in a matter of minutes to close down the streets. And keeping a group of people on one side of the barricade from joining the HUGE group of people on the other side of the barricade. And that jet crash effect looked terrible. I really wanted to like this show, being a fan of the original, but this looks like crap.
- mark076h, on 10/24/2009, -2/+29The special effects when the jet crashed looked kinda silly.
I remember watching the V saga back when the Sci-Fi channel was running, loved it, I hope they don't mess up this remake. - antdude, on 10/24/2009, -1/+28Um, what if it sucks after the first eight minutes? :P
- otbeverly, on 10/24/2009, -1/+28^^^^^^^^^^^
<obligatory Firefly reference> ... beat me to it - UltX, on 10/24/2009, -0/+26SHE HAS TO GO BACK.
- salinungatha, on 10/24/2009, -0/+24I wanna see you make that speech in a movie. Except half way through an alien will appear and devour you in one bite.
- djnikadeemas, on 10/24/2009, -0/+23I Digg Morena Baccarin
- DrCyclops, on 10/24/2009, -1/+24It's called Fermi's Paradox, and he beat you to it by 59 years.
My favorite resolution to the paradox is that there are armadas of omniphagous self-replicating machines that follow radio waves to find planets to eat. So most civilizations die out when they get to our level of development because hungry space robots show up and dismantle their solar systems for raw materials. - valis, on 10/24/2009, -1/+24Long live the memory of Douglas Adams!
- scott1, on 10/24/2009, -3/+25This kinda of reminds me of Independence Day. +digg
EDIT:I made that comment before I saw the part when the guy said "this is independence day" - one1plus1one, on 10/24/2009, -1/+23Didn't you see contact (by Carl Sagan)?!
The aliens appear like us, so as not to shock our psyche, and make it easier on us.
Or maybe... Sagan was wrong... - catachip, on 10/24/2009, -1/+23It's amazing how New York in no way looks like downtown Vancouver.
- sanman, on 10/24/2009, -0/+22The original was fantastic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1QjZiTvhdE
They should make this into an FPS game
Teflon bullets ftw! - DrCyclops, on 10/24/2009, -0/+20I wish I could remember whose idea this was, but...
Someone (not a furry, I swear) suggested that visiting aliens should interact with humans through mechanical proxies that look like anthropomorphic animals. That way they are immediately recognizable as non-human, but simultaneously non-threatening to us.
Unless they came as anthropomorphic sharks. I'm pretty sure that's an automatic act of war. - daEvan, on 10/24/2009, -4/+23Would humans react well to the image of some hideous alien beast? Clearly a human figure is used to establish a comfortable form of communication, like in Contact, which sucked. The image of a human to communicate to humans would be more than appropriate in a peaceful setting.
- Lane, on 10/24/2009, -3/+22Actually I think aliens purposefully ignoring our backwards assed hell hole we call a planet shows intelligence. If you had a choice between black holes, nebula, or some water sacks who are so stupid they can't stop hurting themselves which would you choose to spend you time on?
- peestandingup, on 10/24/2009, -0/+17Shouldn't have Independence Day reminded you of V??
- LoudMusic, on 10/24/2009, -2/+19So THAT'S why they killed her off of Lost. I really liked that character :(
- Dochirin, on 10/24/2009, -0/+17The original alien chick was much hotter. Diana, if I remember correctly.
- fedak, on 10/24/2009, -3/+19Biggest plot holes in the original:
1) The dumbest place to get water is at the bottom of a planetary gravity well.
2) Humans are horribly inefficient as a protein source.
Never mind that a species capable of interstellar travel would just take what they wanted rather than trying psychological games.
Looking forward to the remake tho :) - CanIGetAWitness, on 10/24/2009, -1/+17Looks like some excellent casting, some of my favs there. I hope this does well.
- monodelasno, on 10/24/2009, -0/+15God I remember when I tried to be so hip. Didn't fail quite as bad though.
- sab0tage, on 10/24/2009, -0/+15"We mean you no harm" *Om nom nom nom nom*
- PuddMaster, on 10/24/2009, -1/+16since jets were scrambled, then you can assume that the military was able to track the space ships and thus reacted accordingly. having soldiers show up that quickly isnt all that surprising, especially in major cities.
- godwarrior33702, on 10/24/2009, -2/+16He says that because Independence Day is basically an imitator of the original 'V' minus the alien subterfuge and the political allegory.
...I've nothing against ID though...it was a really fun summer action flick. - Supersith, on 10/24/2009, -0/+14Dude Starbuck and Boomer were hot same with Lucy Lawless and dont forget Caprica 6. So uh what BSG were you watching? If it was the Orig then i might agree with you :)
- bubbameister33, on 10/24/2009, -0/+14Jesus almost killed him too.
- Senorchili, on 10/24/2009, -0/+13LOL
