- SoldOutMatinee, on 07/16/2009, -1/+48and once again no nomination for It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia nor its cast. :(
also, Hugh Laurie needs to finally get his Emmy for his portrayal of House. It's long overdue. - deweyhewson, on 07/17/2009, -4/+35Family Guy is a shocker because it hasn't been funny since before it was canceled.
South Park sums it up nicely: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103230/ - Bukowsky, on 07/16/2009, -2/+29I was glad to see that 'Flight of the Conchords' got two nominations... I doubt they'll win, since they have a small following, but still a nice surprise.
- thegreenspanput, on 07/16/2009, -6/+31What's shocking is that anyone watches Family Guy. I might have laughed 4 or 5 times during the 15 odd episodes I've seen.
- KMye, on 07/17/2009, -1/+22Family Guy is nominated for best comedy before South Park?? This pretty ***** up right here...
- Animal, on 07/17/2009, -0/+15I know I'll likely get dugg down by Simpsons haters, but I think it's a travesty that Family Guy has this comedy series nomination but The Simpsons has never been nominated for best comedy series in its entire run. Even in it's prime it got nothing, but Family Guy, which I thoroughly enjoyed before it was canceled but is now a shell of its former self (although I really like Seth MacFarlane) gets nominated.
- billpyle, on 07/17/2009, -0/+14Its Always Sunny is the best comedy on TV. Its ridiculous that its not recognized. My guess is that its content and the fact that its on a cable network keeps it from getting nominated.
- SpazAttack5000, on 07/17/2009, -2/+14you have sure seen lots of episodes for someone who does not like it.
- KrisStrong, on 07/16/2009, -3/+14Mythbusters...Flight of the Conchords ...AND Family Guy??
Amazing. - andrewlotta, on 07/17/2009, -0/+10Breaking Bad fans seem to be very happy that Aaron Paul (Jesse) got a nom.
- Spideristic, on 07/17/2009, -1/+11Good to see Jim Parsons nominated... for The Big Bang Theory...
- BA88, on 07/17/2009, -1/+10Happy to see The Big Bang Theory get a few nominations.
- bryano, on 07/17/2009, -1/+10Dugg for 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother.
- NextGenXbox, on 07/17/2009, -0/+9BREAKING BAD.
- Frixionburne, on 07/17/2009, -1/+10South Park.
Greg the Bunny.
Robot Chicken.
Metalocalypse.
Family guy is low man on the totem pole. - theAzone, on 07/16/2009, -1/+9Why nominate seven comedy shows when the academy is just going to give it to 30 Rock?
- smpaisnutrients, on 07/17/2009, -2/+9family guy isn't so much funny anymore as 'shocking' for the sake of being 'shocking.' ANYONE can make a show that says and shows things that are obscene or rude, that doesn't mean it's good.
Someone tried to tell me the other day that Family Guy isn't as good as it used to be but there are at least 2 good jokes in each episode, so that makes it still worth watching. That makes no sense. if someone said "Hey, here's five dollars in ones, but you'll need to dig thru this ton of human feces to get it," is it still good that you got five dollars for free? - KrisStrong, on 07/16/2009, -0/+7Complete List of Nominations:
http://cdn.emmys.tv/awards/2009ptemmys/61stemmys_n ... - nathanwk, on 07/16/2009, -0/+6Eastbound and Down should have gotten an emmy nom.
- KarthVader, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Day Man, fighter of the Night Man
- StusGhost, on 07/17/2009, -1/+7Entertainment Weekly said "Battlestar Galactica" was the greatest Sci-Fi anything of all time. It can't get a freaking Emmy nod??? There's something wrong with the system.
I'm an actor myself, and I know personally that this show transcends the genre, and all across the board is one of the greatest episodics ever. It's a tragedy that the Emmy's can't get their act together and recognize great television. A tragedy! - Lateralis1, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Eric Cartman: Don't you ever, ever compare me to Family Guy, you hear me Kyle? Compare me to Family Guy again, and, so help me, I will kill you where you stand! Do you have any idea what it's like? Everywhere I go: "Hey Cartman you must like Family Guy, right?" "Hey, your sense of humor reminds me of Family Guy, Cartman!" I am nothing like Family Guy! When I make jokes, they are inherent to a story! Deep situational and emotional jokes based on what is relevant and has a point, not just one random interchangeable joke after another!
- colasrtney, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5Junk Yard Guy " Wait a minute..wait a minute. Believe me, that is a tough cat. It was born in a puddle of gasoline on a piece of rusty scrap metal. I've seen that cat go through barbed wire into a vat of hot tar. That cat, eh heh, is indestructible."
- MCCULLAH, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5see the thing is....i don't find family guy funny. Sure it may have a halarious "wtf" moment every once and awhile, but overall it just lacks. I'm glad to see Flight of the Conchords, but dissapointed that Its always sunny... wasn't in there. That show makes me LOL and one time ROFLing.
- Pillage, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4I don't get why the author referred to Bryan Cranstons win as an "upset. I think he rightfully deserved it.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4jim parsons should win, that guy was hillarious on every single episode.
- dolemite01, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4I hope Clemenson or Shatner win for supporting drama on their work with Boston Legal.
- JEH225, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4you've been sub par since you made that comment
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -4/+8Not really, House is the same show every single week. It's not a particularly well conceived, written, or acted program. If the show became more dynamic, Laurie may be worth a look, but as it is, he can pretty much sleepwalk through an episode now.
- drifter, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Free money is free money.
- IUAndar, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3If they really wanted to surprise me, they would have told me that Battlestar Galactica didn't get screwed again.
- Sangreal2007, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3In my opinion, Breaking Bad is the best show on tv at the moment.
- KMye, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2@ Atario - Sorry, was more interested in finding the general sense of digg these days on South Park vs Family Guy than trying to start an in depth discussion, though I would have to say the "Cartoon Wars" South Park episodes do as good a job as anything in summing up my general feelings. But, there's no accounting for tastes; I'll leave it at that.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2South Park isn't THAT specialized. It was a cultural phenomenon far beyond anything the Family Guy makers could ever dream of.
- heytomkat, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3No Rescue Me?
- Spetz, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2They also can't recognise Bear McCreary's fantastic BSG score either. The other nominations could hardly be called music in comparison...
- Diggnabbit, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog FTW!
- DestroyedAUS, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Hasn't he had to jump his acting up a notch in every season finale, where he almost dies? :D
- kenhatesemos, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2i agree with everything you just said. simpsons isn't what it used to be, but still remains the best thing to happen to television, family guy was great before it was cancelled but now it sucks, and seth macfarlane is a funny guy despite his incredibly unfunny show.
- DestroyedAUS, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2"You gotta pay the troll toll to get into this boy's hole. You gotta pay the troll toll to get in." hahaha.
- numberneal, on 07/16/2009, -1/+31st animated nom in years
- billpyle, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2A network can only submit a show for one category. So Fox submitted FG for the best comedy category and it got accepted. Comedy Central most likely submitted South Park for the best animated show category and it got accepted. Who knows if SP would have gotten nominated for best comedy if it was submitted though.
- TomTruelle, on 07/17/2009, -3/+5bury me
- alexkorova, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2I keep seeing people here dissing Family Guy. Sure, it has been on the decline for a while, but some episodes are still very very funny. Like episode 2 of season 7, "I Dream of Jesus", the episode with Surfin' Bird and Jesus.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Yes, but I still like the random jokes in Family Guy.
Why can't we like them both? - VitriolAndAngst, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Actually, sleepwalking is how he prepares to be that irascible know-it-all who then we suspect has gone off his rocker because he claims a weird/obscure malady is the root cause. He then forces the issue by ____, Everyone doubts him, despite past successes and attempts to put him in his place. This only makes him more of a jerk until he is put in his place by the cute young/ancient wise, sympathetic character and we see that House has a heart/heartburn. House is then proven correct. And the moment we finally can say he is a nice man, he does something to ruin his redemption.
It's a good formula. But there isn't enough variation in the formula to win awards. - Lateralis1, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Especially with how this season ended. He acted out the last two episodes perfectly.
- Retrodigg123, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1best show out there.
- cuervoman914, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1i dugg you up. im from williamsburg.
