- h4mx0r, on 02/01/2008, -19/+1Personal experience off the air? :P
- charliekwalker, on 02/01/2008, -11/+39I worked in movies and TV for about ten years... I saw a lot worse from much bigger names... It was probably some green PA with his head up his ass... I don't blame Chris Berman one bit (even though his schtick annoys me to no end...)
- whoamarcos, on 02/01/2008, -0/+23ducking under the camera is pretty bad. if anything thats more common sense then just being new.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSWUWPx2VeQ - mlirblur, on 02/01/2008, -3/+8I'm a sophomore radio major at Emerson College, but a couple months ago I was a studio TV major. The #1 reason as to why I was no longer enjoying learning about TV was because everyone got too stressed and egotistical for my liking. This vid tells me that even in the network TV market people still shuffle around aimlessly like headless chickens, and it also tells me that leadership figures in the studio like talent and directors can be total dicks when things don't go their way. All of my colleagues in productions I had worked on made me uncomfortable in more or less acting just like Berman does here, so I moved to the more solitary art of radio.
- seanthebond, on 02/01/2008, -2/+17A friend of mine was on "Call For Help" a year or so ago, and while waiting to be put on the air during a break, he heard Leo shout out, "I don't do ***** cell phones! Do I look like a ***** cell phone guy? I do computers!" referring to what must have been a previous caller.
- teh_techie, on 02/01/2008, -2/+5That show isn't live... you're making this ***** up. They pre-screen the calls, have it all set up etc...
- Chakz, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1How hard would it be for someone to ask a question about a cellphone after they're initial problem? I've seen numerous times where someone will ask something at the end of the call and Leo will give some vague advice, obviously because it wasn't in the screening and he didn't have websites and advice ready beforehand.
- seanthebond, on 02/02/2008, -0/+1The shows are pre-recorded, but they still film the show with breaks and such like that, making it easier to edit and get things ready. And the caller hears a feed from the studio when on hold waiting to ask a new question.
I, being on the show myself once, know that.
- Hazardc, on 02/02/2008, -0/+2I saw leo swear quite a few times back in the ZDTV/techtv days.. the one that sticks out is when he said the word ***** while describing something to a kid that had to be no more than 11 years old.. he caught himself about 2 seconds after saying it too.
- teh_techie, on 02/01/2008, -2/+5That show isn't live... you're making this ***** up. They pre-screen the calls, have it all set up etc...
- DangerCollie, on 02/01/2008, -9/+3Having been a DJ years ago I can tell you if he had a fit about people walking around behind camera, he'd go berserk in a radio station. People walking in and out of the booth, phone lights on pretty much continuously. Station manager, his kid and the marketing director all in the booth at the same, marketing director shoving new ad copy at you two seconds before the break. And make a mistake...you'll be hearing about it for weeks.
Get over it, Berman.- steveboutin, on 02/01/2008, -2/+3i think it's great when someone posts a comment and gets buried up to their ass, and then someone slanders them in a reply and also gets buried up to their ass.
and now i think i'm about to get buried up to my ass.- eightyd, on 02/02/2008, -1/+1I buried you, just to prove your point =)
- steveboutin, on 02/01/2008, -2/+3i think it's great when someone posts a comment and gets buried up to their ass, and then someone slanders them in a reply and also gets buried up to their ass.
- eightyd, on 02/01/2008, -6/+1Have in worked in computer repair, I've said wayyyyy worse than this!
- mbthompson, on 02/01/2008, -1/+2Yeah I've worked in television myself, and I actually don't blame him. Having people walk under the cameras while trying to read the teleprompter and tape a show is extremely distracting and counter productive. If I were the producer and saw that happening I would have yelled at them too. Heck, when I produced a show I would yell at the camera ops for taking their hands off the handlebars during taping. Anyway, this really isn't a big deal.
- knightboat, on 02/01/2008, -2/+5"Having worked in TV, I've seen worse..."
You can tell by the pixels, and having seen some crazy rants in your time. - NgrHader, on 02/01/2008, -2/+7I love how there is always a resident expert and well experienced person regardless of topic in every story dugg, they never fail
- steveboutin, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3yeah, but i've actually seen kevin rose on tv - what weirds me out is when some guy claims he has a phd in the volcanic activity of the middle east during the dark ages, or that he knows more about foreign policy than all american politicians combined, or that he was present for the alien autopsy.
it's usually the same person, too.

- MrTsLoveChild, on 02/01/2008, -3/+46Backbackbackbackback...JESUS!
- ChronicColonic, on 02/01/2008, -0/+10I'm commenting here..Jesus, hasn't anybody been on a social networking site before?!? I am certain several hundred thousand people are randomly clicking right and typing right now. JESUS! I can't believe what is going on! Can't everybody stop for ten minutes? You had two God Damn hours to type a comment, Jesus!
- Opeth1, on 02/01/2008, -4/+47You would think by now a vet like Berman would be used to the live chaos.
- eliztown, on 02/01/2008, -3/+33i think it's from the 2000 season...but still, he's had a lot of years under his belt. then again, if this is one of only a few outbursts i wouldn't knock him. we're all human, it's just unfortunate that he (1) had a camera in his face and (2) someone from espn probably illegally leaked the tape
- kylev, on 02/01/2008, -2/+21I agree. Berman's been great for a long time, and he's going to lose it eventually and tape will be rolling. A little freak-out does nothing to lessen what I think of him and the passion with which he reports the game.
And seriously, if the whole focus of your workday is to create 10 minutes of TV, allow the talent to stay un-distracted during those minutes. How he does in front of the camera is a reflection of professionalism on the part of everyone behind the camera. - Kerrigore, on 02/01/2008, -1/+5I thought people could tap into feeds even when the station wasn't actually broadcasting or something? Something to do with satellites. I remember seeing a video about it before.
- 0crabby0, on 02/01/2008, -0/+9Yes, they're called wild feeds - and they can be very entertaining.
- cawpin, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4We got a satellite dish when they were very new. You know, the big 8 foot diameter ones that you had to move between satellites. We saw news people all the time that weren't "broadcasting" to their local station but the feed was still live. Just like 0crabby0 said, very entertaining.
- mike17032, on 02/01/2008, -0/+8I was kinda disappointed, This isnt a big deal, he just yelled a bit.
I was hoping he would freak out and start throwing cameras around while screaming like a howling monkey, then strangle someone with a cable and then squat down and drop a big ***** on the stage.
That woulda been a good video.
- rynosauce, on 02/01/2008, -5/+32I think it would have all been fine if everybody that passed under the LIVE camera made a "woooohhhhttt" sound effect.
- pb3623, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1That floor director went BACK BACK BACK BACK BACK... to KBJR-TV in Duluth.
- LordStandley, on 02/01/2008, -35/+3Awesome!
Did this actually air, or was it cutting room floor stuff?- WhoRadley, on 02/01/2008, -3/+38Think about that one and then get back to me.
- jordanlgta, on 02/01/2008, -4/+2Cutting room? You think they edit a live show?
- MarCrawford, on 02/01/2008, -9/+4Wow, why the hell would they bury this comment? This was a legitimate question, it didn't look like an actual video from ESPN and looked like just a person in the studio taking the video. Besides, why the hell would ESPN stay on him for a minute and 20 seconds if it was live? Did they not have commercials at this time? I have no idea if it was live or not, but it was a ***** good question and i was wondering that myself when I was watching it.
- legendxx, on 02/01/2008, -1/+7You are ***** dumber than the original poster if you think there was any chance that was live.
1) They would have cut away the first second they heard Jesus
2) Why would they rewind the graphic on the TV behind him? There are no do-overs on live tv.
3) Why would you think this wasn't a video from espn? Could it have possibly been the 3-4 ABC Sports logos flying all over the place on the monitors? The parent company of ESPN also owns ABC which is why you see ESPN doing their sports much of the time.
- legendxx, on 02/01/2008, -1/+7You are ***** dumber than the original poster if you think there was any chance that was live.
- Fr4nk2012, on 02/01/2008, -1/+12It was live, I saw it. They didn't cut away until he took his shirt off and started to cut his nipples.
AWkward!
- MiltonWaddams, on 02/01/2008, -1/+141Surprised it took 8 years for this to surface.
- catwoman2970, on 02/01/2008, -2/+6I'm kinda glad to see this. It reinforces that TV people are just like the rest of us - their lives aren't that glamorous and they have bad days like us.
- SmooveO, on 02/01/2008, -11/+33I think he needs a hug from Keith Olbermann. That would make him feel much better.
- Bologner, on 02/01/2008, -0/+18The people burying you do realize that Olbermann used to be on ESPN, right?
- MRintheKeys, on 02/01/2008, -0/+2Ahh, the days when you could wake up, watch SportsCenter and were Dan Patrick, Keith Olbermann, or Craig Kilborn.
- doctechnical, on 02/01/2008, -4/+326Looks like somebody has a bad case of the Mondays!
- UObean, on 02/01/2008, -2/+3LMAO! Thumbs up for you.
- quomen, on 02/01/2008, -3/+16Wait, that's a pun referring to Monday Night Football right? I get it!
- tgc1, on 02/01/2008, -5/+6Want to go to Chotchkie's? Get some coffee? I gotta get outta here. I think I'm gonna lose it.

- PixelD, on 02/01/2008, -3/+14I believe you'd get your ass kicked for saying something like that.

- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -47/+5Chris Berman is the cancer that killed ESPN.
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -19/+3Sweet. Lowest I've ever been buried. Everybody that loves moronic punning nicknames and annoying catchphrases, keep burying!
- MattnJax, on 02/01/2008, -6/+9Here's a nickname for you, "douchebag". Not as clever as Berman's, but it gets to the point.
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -6/+6Oh, don't sell yourself short. That's at least twice as witty as Berman.
- MattnJax, on 02/01/2008, -5/+4Oh come on hierophantus, at least the guy is animated and has a likable personality, unlike a lot of other sportscasters. Maybe you're not a football fan, but if I could pick one sportscaster to sit back, have a beer with, and talk football, it'd be Chris Berman.
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -5/+4He's animated, and he's smart, but he's way too schtick-y.
Worse, he was the first to send ESPN down the road to catch-phrase hell, from whence it will never return. No one is allowed to deliver sports news anymore without a forced hyperactive arch-cleverness that hasn't been interesting since 1997. You would think that "boom goes the dynamite" would have been the industry's rock bottom, after which they might have kicked their catch-phrase and cleverness addiction, but no such luck.
Hey, there's a lot of people, and especially bands, that I love that would no doubt annoy the hell out of a lot of other people, so I'm not saying that no reasonable person could enjoy his style. But his style and delivery, and especially the goddamn nicknames, have gotten under my skin since day one.
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -5/+4He's animated, and he's smart, but he's way too schtick-y.

- Dylson, on 02/01/2008, -6/+1Your comment doesn't even deserve a '***** you'
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -5/+5Man, people get so worked up over Berman. Who knew?
Anyway, your comment doesn't even deserve a preteritio.- bjornski, on 02/01/2008, -3/+7You can't make fun of anything relating to grown men playing with a ball without them getting sensitive about it.
- catfish182, on 02/01/2008, -1/+1/googles preteritio
- hierophantus, on 02/01/2008, -5/+5Man, people get so worked up over Berman. Who knew?
- eurotransient, on 02/01/2008, -2/+2Funny, because he's also one of the geniuses that made ESPN great. If anyone killed ESPN, it's Disney. Or maybe Hitler. I'm not sure, really. It's a toss up.
- Casework, on 02/01/2008, -2/+58Spend half an hour around a TV studio and you'll scratch your head as to how these guys keep it together on the air.
- SRSco, on 02/01/2008, -2/+297I love how he gets all pissed...then calms down...then remembers why he's pissed and gets pissed again...then calms down...then gets pissed again...etc. etc. etc.

- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+4That's sad. :(
- mraustin1337, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3Yeah. She doesn't have to be awake when you do that anyways.
- bjornski, on 02/01/2008, -0/+7Women do that.
And people wonder why I'm divorced. - Dropscience, on 02/01/2008, -4/+1lies diggers are virgins etc etc
- shaka776, on 02/01/2008, -13/+5Whoa, what just walked in front of the camera?
Oh, it was my respect for Chris Berman, heading straight out the window.- MattnJax, on 02/01/2008, -2/+9Lost respect? Hell, I'd be pissed too if I was him. The man is trying to keep his composure, concentration, and do his job on LIVE TV, and there's a bunch of people, supposedly that know what they're doing, moving around in the background disturbing him. I completely understand why he lost his cool. Plus, he's the best in the biz, IMO.
- kublerross, on 02/01/2008, -2/+2yeah because being overpaid to read something someone else wrote off of a screen takes tons of concentration
think of the poor actors, however do they do it
- Malevolant, on 02/01/2008, -4/+98My favorite meltdowns are from Alex Trebek from Jeopardy

- wild, on 02/01/2008, -2/+12Dude, I love Chris Berman. This is nothing noteworthy, just amuzing to watch. I have seen much bigger screaming matches over more trivial stuff at my ad agency. Some things just get bottled up. And you have no idea what happened before the tape. It just goes straight into the tirade. This stuff is never fare to person on it.
- UltramegaOK, on 02/01/2008, -2/+3Was that Chris Berman or his alter ego "The Swami" talking???
- AndyStitzer, on 02/01/2008, -4/+18You're with me, leather.

Casey Kasem. Best rant ever.- bjornski, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1Hahaha. I had made reference to the same freak-out in another post, but that animated face is a riot. The audio quality stinks, but the animated Kasey makes it worth it.

- thedinomeister, on 02/01/2008, -3/+2....this *****' guy.
- bizland2, on 02/01/2008, -6/+1LOL, thats something you have to deal with, try doing interviews outsite that you have to improv without the teleprompter, studio b*tches have it easy.
- saferwaters, on 02/01/2008, -1/+2Because you've been on ESPN and ABC live, right?
- bizland2, on 02/03/2008, -0/+0Actually because I know its harder to interview people in the field because everything is live live live not taped taped taped where you can spout off like a 3 year old cause you cant do your job well enough. Interviewing CEO's and Game Developers at E3 is a lot harder then reading green/white words scroll up in front of you while someone ducks under the camera. I say find a new caster if you suck that bad.

- sleeknerve, on 02/01/2008, -0/+5Why cant everyone just go back back back back back back back back and BE GONE, or could just move out of the way WHOOP! and stop distracting me, thanks you moved out of the way WHOOP
- HotDogBun, on 02/01/2008, -9/+4Pretty self righteous guy for someone who is barely famous enough to get a discount on a prostitute.
- martoony, on 02/01/2008, -2/+4whatever, thats nothing, its not like it was live. For those of you who suddenly hate this guy for blowing up, you have no idea
- R3Dirkulous, on 02/01/2008, -3/+2i have no idea? I know know that no matter how mad I've gotten..or ever plan to get that I wouldn't treat people like that...Ya i get ticked, but how he acted was a little over the top, seemed full of himself.
- wilhoitm, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3How much does he get paid?
- pennvneff, on 02/01/2008, -0/+5One Hundred Billion Dollars

- Harbinger67, on 02/01/2008, -4/+1Man, I was hoping he went physically ballistic and hurt someone and was fired or something. This guy has the most annoying voice next to Dick Vitale...just listening to him speak makes me want a glass of water and a lozenge.
- cuevas4711, on 02/01/2008, -1/+1“Part-time information and full-time opinions can be very dangerous.”
- reiggin, on 02/01/2008, -0/+5I'd like to see a before-and-after... Berman's comb-over from 8 years ago compared to Berman's comb-over today.
- tightscrummy, on 02/01/2008, -2/+1I don't understand. Jesus was walking the studio?
- Jaserr83, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1He seems less annoying in the video. All I need to see now is a video of Leo or the rest of the TechTV crew having a meltdown.
- gspasian, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1What a tough job I have here people, Jesus! Luckily I can swill some more beer at about 1:00. Don't make me get up!
- Trollmaster, on 02/01/2008, -1/+1so what the *****.... is going on here?
- MrPositive, on 02/01/2008, -7/+1I wonder if he'll have to publicly apologize like Dana Jacobson did for saying F__Jesus. He said about every nasty word you could possibly say there plus Jesus's name in vain several times. He should have to formally apologize as well. It wouldn't be fair if he gets off the hook because he's more well known than Jacobson.
- hobbitsareneat, on 02/01/2008, -0/+6Gee golly gosh he said the Lord's name in vain? How DARE he!!
- nbcaffeine, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3theres only like 10 or so rules, and that is one of them.
- PawnsOfJoshua, on 02/01/2008, -1/+0Actually all you people who like to criticize people for taking the Lord's name in vain need to look up the definition of the word vain.
- hobbitsareneat, on 02/01/2008, -0/+6Gee golly gosh he said the Lord's name in vain? How DARE he!!
- mrogi, on 02/01/2008, -5/+2Berman remained very controlled for a guy who is obviously enraged. He even apologized while in mid-rant. If your guys really wanna see beserk; you should see my dad when he gets angry.
- bingobongony, on 02/01/2008, -2/+14What channel is he on?
- edebolt, on 02/01/2008, -2/+2that was entertaining. Wet's my appetite for more.. How about coaches yelling at players in the locker room or officers yelling at soldiers or politicians yelling at staff. Bring it on !
- bingobongony, on 02/01/2008, -8/+2I didn't watch yet, but was his outburst due to his realization that his act is tired and no one has considered him funny in about 15 years?
- itsbob, on 02/01/2008, -0/+1Tourette sports center
