- orlandogeek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+76I'm there as long as they retain the original cast.
- VRFour, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29Ellen Muth is hot, although sometimes I think she looks like a bulldog
- nblsavage, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28@nickbender, I know that everyone has their own taste but what the hell is wrong with Ellen Muth?
http://www.dlm-tv.de/gallerie/promo/portraint/ellenmuth_003.jpg - drtyfrnk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Yeah, the original cast or nothing.
I loved that show! - skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Best news I've heard all day.
Ellen Muth
Laura Harris
Callum Blue
Mandy Patinkin
...if those four are there I'm in. - Tony611, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Horray! This should be done to (good) shows more often.
*cough*cough*Arrested Development*cough* - skellingtonjr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I doubt they are going to get Mandy Patinkin http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001597/ from "Criminal Minds" to switch back. He has got a good think going there, even though he is we was great as Rube Sofer.
- LoadStar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@RetlawST: This is a direct-to-DVD production from MGM Home Entertainment. The only way you'd see this on the "silver screen" is if you're viewing it on a projector at home. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Wow, i remember catching this on TMN On Demand (Movie channel in Canada), they had the entire season 1 available, i remember watching one, and being hooked and ended up watching the whole season. Then season 2 later on.
If they have the original cast i'll be watching. - Neploxo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@happyscrappy
As in "her big fat ass" :) - supranatic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sadly, I'm not sure that it would be as good without the original cast.
- cryptic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7arrested development = probably the best show with the best cast since seinfeld. possibly ever.
- loggia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, but is the creator Bryan Fuller (now writing for Heroes) involved?
Are any of the principal actors involved?
I have a bad feeling MGM hasn't really worked out those parts yet. - scotticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm there even if they don't. It's a great premise.
- me1.0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5TBH as long as they get Muth, Patinkin, the guy that played Mason, (Callum Blue), and maybe the crazy office lady, I'm in. The rest really doesn't matter.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Delores Herbig? As in "Her big brown eyes"?
- shaun1018, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I want the tv show back though : (
Hopefully we well get a Family Guy-esq revivial of the TV series if a lot of people go buy the movie. - mabba18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Fan-freaking-tanstic!!
- Ratteler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Excellent. I loved that show.
Now we just need Dark Angel direct to DVD movies. - eatspaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's time for Stargate-SG1 to die in peace. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my top 5 all time favorite shows, but everything has to end sometime. And frankly, I would much rather see it end before they really run it into the ground. Atlantis on the other hand has started to grow on me.
- goodfeets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bryan Fuller or no-go.
- kgouldsk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Fantastic.....one of my favorite shows ever. Couldn't believe they cancelled it. Ranks right up with Firefly.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You mean Twin Peaks.
Actually this is not all that new a concept. Even Star Trek was revived as a movie after the original series got canceled. - RetlawST, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Manday Patinkin could come back. It would be great to see him back on the silver screen...not that he's been bad in television in any way, shape, or form.
- inukki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4sometimes it sucks to watch shows that are prone to be canceled, when they had something special within that show
and the stupid execs finally see what the interesting thing is with the help of the audience who demand the show to go back when they couldn't see this special thing by themselves
kinda like being a IT guy having a mp3 player way before the trend got out to the general public
or getting the word of mouth to the "future fans" of the matrix even before the trailer gets released
or you discovering digg through network tv
either way, that show rocked in the first season, then the rest of the season(s) started to get unappealing afterwards
I for one will see it when i can - Sillytuna, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dead Like Me was massively underrated. I only saw it once it was canned, but for those of you who haven't seen it, seek it out. Well worth the effort.
- ITinNYC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3SHO has definitely taken the crown from HBO.
HBO at their height had Oz, The Sopranos, Sex in the City, and The Wire, later on even Deadwood and Carnivale, now it is just crap.
Weeds, BS, Dexter, and even Tudors are good. - BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+3So I'm obviously ***** pumped. I started watching this show "via the internet" right after it debuted because for some reason this short lived show actually had good cross network advertising. I mean, well... I hate sad stories but this was a sad story that got you pumped for life.
The only fears I have are obviously cast fallout and the possibility of this ending up as a Strangers With Candy type retread, but the fact that it is made for DVD seems to solve both of those. Just like the Family Guy movie, it would not be to capture a new audience like a theatrical release but a for the fans sort of thing. So until I hear otherwise my assumption is it will just be a continuation of the series and not lose any of the original cast, as that would be a waste of time.
God I'm ***** pumped!
Here's a neat though. I hadn't thought about her job within the show in forever and when I was reminded of it I realized how it treaded the same ground as the American "The Office" would later. - Autoplectic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I completely agree. Showtime has really been pulling things together and are almost as good as HBO now, particularly with The Tudors. FX is up-and-coming as well with shows like Dirt and The Riches.
- goodfeets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I really don't think Bryan Fuller would want to go back to this after he was basically fired off the show which then led in an altogether different direction than he intended. Although there are some good parts about the second season, I feel this show would have been better served by ending it after season one.
- mirrorkills, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They already have two stargate direct to dvd movies in the works though..
- ZzFDKzZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good show!
- cthulhukb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@PsychoticClown
Yes, it was called Serenity. - REBELinBLUE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is fantastic news. MGM finally released the second season DVDs here in the UK 2 weeks ago, nearly 2 weeks after the first; I'd forgotten just how great the show was. Even my little brother has been watching it with me and he hates just about everything I watch.
Fingers crossed they get the original cast back, it just wouldn't be the same without them; I have a feeling though that some of the reapers may end up having been "promoted" (i.e. they couldn't get the actors) but I hope I'm wrong - TiCooper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2fantastic show, but yeah, the cast has to come back, especially Ellen Muth. She was fantastic as was the Happy time crew of Delores Herbig (as in "Her Big" brown eyes) and Crystal.
I guess what i want the DVD to address is what happened in the last episode of the show. Reggie saw George at the graveyard.... so wtf?? i can't believe that they left us with that and then cancelled the show! One more season would have been perfect, just to bring some closure to George's afterlife. Either she moves on and finds some comfort in the fact that her familiy goes on and lives their lives, or she continues being a shadow to their lives. Either way, the graveyard incident would have been a good catalyst for some finality between Reggie and George. - skoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So... WHO is responsible for the post-it notes? I haven't slept for 4 years.
- CarpenterSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's awesome, I back up everyone who's rooting for the original cast.
Never watched the show when it was on, but lately my GF has gotten me into it on DVD. - digitalcowboy99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am hyped for this :) Great GREAT show. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Had a lot to say about life (and death).
- TequilaCollins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is too weird. I was just thinking about this show yesterday. I hope they pick up where they left off.
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As much as I like the original show and the original cast, it is the sort of thing that could be done successfully with a different cast in a different setting (not a different cast playing the same roles, that would be dumb). Yes, that cast was great, but that doesn't mean another group couldn't be good or great as well.
The show concept works well for making it based on a different group of people reaping in a different time period, maybe with some crossover. Heck they could make a whole new show if that worked out.
Of course, if they did this it would suck, but in theory it should be possible to pull off. - miken32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definitely wouldn't be the same without him. When I started watching Lost I kept thinking of him as Charlie.
- Nowaiman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Shut up, bitch. YOU KNOW YOU LIKE IT.
- Emilio8605, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Isn't Callum Blue on The Tudors. At least it's the same network he may be able to do both.
- Michaelrry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree with every one in that if they want to use the same characters then they should use use the original cast. If they cannot make this happen then they should try to make a movie with the same premise but in a different location. it's all or change the characters and location. Don't try and make it the same but with different people. It's won't be the same no matter how hard they try.
- chill392, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Aww, I wish they would just bring the series back. I don't want to watch some crappy made-for-DVD movie, I want to have something to look forward to on Tuesday night.
- JustinPM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did you get your film degree on Wikipedia?
Just kidding. - cowabuse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dead Like Me is an awesome show. The humor was brilliant.
- PsychoticClown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2First of all, that's not a revival; that's a moviefication.
Second, there's no reason to be excited about this. Can anyone remember a movie based on a TV series that came out better or at least didn't alienate the fans of the series? Movies pander to a bigger audience than the TV audience, which usually means toned down, "safer" content, and lots of repeated themes (seen by fans, introduced to the new audience). - JustinPM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, 3M is generally responsible for post-it notes. Did anyone else think this whole show could have been a really long commercial for post-it notes?
- geneticlone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2YAY!!!
