- Unixed, on 01/21/2008, -3/+257Um, but it is a cult.
- Dysarthria, on 01/21/2008, -3/+214While you can argue that all religions are bogus, most mainstream religions today do not require donating your money as a prerequisite to salvation.
Just to get tested to see how many alien souls you're burdened with costs a couple-hundred. - AshamedAmerican, on 01/21/2008, -3/+170I love these BBC investigations into scientology, they seem to be the only one with the balls to really go after them and find out whats going on. I don't remember what the investigation was called, but they did an undercover one that got scary as hell.
- mrfreeziexp, on 01/21/2008, -2/+123I got a feeling that Tommy guy is angry, real angry.

- nhkenn, on 01/21/2008, -2/+44when the real aliens show up, I hope they sue the pants of the CoS.
- brstilson, on 01/21/2008, -2/+43No cult member ever believes he's in one.
- sgtpppr, on 01/21/2008, -0/+37Scientology will only get bigger now that it has been around long enough for a generation to have been born into it. 30 years ago every Scientologist was a convert. Now, people are growing up in Scientologist families. Look at Giovanni Ribissi and Beck. They weren't converted. They were born into it.
- Geiiga, on 01/21/2008, -1/+36The greatest thing about Scientology is that Charles Manson rejected it as being too crazy.
- anachronaut, on 01/21/2008, -0/+34Actually, XenuTV has done plenty of extremely revealing pieces on Scientology. Here's a good starting point:
http://www.xenutv.com/originals/4th.htm
You do have to have some serious fortitude and mental toughness to go up against these guys on a face-to-face basis, though. They're very well-trained in the art of intimidation, coercion and manipulation. Most normal humans who are adjusted to a polite, relatively sane society are going to have a very tough time going up against these predators. - ravensncrows, on 01/21/2008, -2/+34"There is no more ethical group on this planet than ourselves."
-L.Ron (KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING. 7 February 1965, reissued 27 August 1980) - jimmiss, on 01/21/2008, -2/+33An official goal of Scientology is to convert the planet through any means neccesary.
- CrasyMike, on 01/21/2008, -4/+34COUCH JUMPING LULZ
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -3/+33Actually they don't worship xenu. Xenu is the evil guy who is locked away in a volcano or something.

- pencilneck, on 01/21/2008, -0/+28Did a search for "signs of a cult" and came up with this link:
http://agatheringofchristians.org/cultsigns.html
Not for nothing, but all 23 signs they list as being a cult pretty much pegs $cientology. About the only thing they left out was "the leader rapes young boys on a boat in international waters". - inactive, on 01/21/2008, -5/+33enough already with this.
- Zorn, on 01/21/2008, -3/+30I'm waiting for the 'Top Ten Girls of Scientology' post. Cult-chicks in need of a little 'deprogramming' go off like the proverbial volcano.
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -2/+281- Scientology is different from other religions, this has been explained time and again, but you don't get it, but if someone you knew entered CoS and another became a Christian, which one wouldn't be allowed to talk to you anymore?
2- When we (Diggers) call Scientology a "cult" what we mean is not a new, small fringe religion, but a religion where the leaders KNOW its *****, but use it to control the members. Every true Christian I know, truly believe their religion, from the pews to the pulpit.
3-Christians sometimes give tithes to their church, but this is usually completely voluntary unlike the CoS that mandates large sums of money be given periodically.
4-Yes, there have been many stories about Scientology this weekend, no one made you click on it, if this topic bothers you, feel free to pass by and read something else. - MackenzieArbour, on 01/21/2008, -2/+27Your avatar fits.
- NeoCortex, on 01/21/2008, -4/+29Of course it's not a cult. By the way, what flavor Kool-Aid are you guys going with this year?
- pencilneck, on 01/21/2008, -0/+25So what did you do to get kicked out? Run out of money?
- Bartboy919, on 01/21/2008, -0/+25ITS A CULT, COME GET ME *****!
- Woah_G!, on 01/21/2008, -1/+26I was surprised when i found out that Leah Remini from King of Queens was a scientologist.
- truspect0r, on 01/21/2008, -2/+26CULT YOU TOM!
- ryanonfire, on 01/21/2008, -2/+24No! That king of queens lady is a member :(
- inactive, on 01/21/2008, -4/+26Then ignore it, or bury it and move on... Stop being a whiny bitch.
- BinaryDelt, on 01/21/2008, -1/+23I have absolutely no idea how nobody punched Tommy square in the jaw.
- zydeco, on 01/21/2008, -2/+23and Issac Hayes! ***** Shaft, man!
- rand0mm0nkey, on 01/21/2008, -5/+26You sure seem to know much about this topic, sir....
/raise eyebrow - bloodqc, on 01/21/2008, -2/+23Dude you look very stressed maybe you should try our free test.
- themastersb, on 01/21/2008, -2/+22Will Smith is about to fall down the same hole as Tom and then watch as his movies lose popularity extremely fast too.
- GreenAlien, on 01/21/2008, -0/+20And that's EXACTLY the response they were trying to provoke. The way they were talking all over the bbc reporter consistently was all about intimidation and provocation. Good luck CoS getting official recognition as a religion. You brain washing *****. One more thing on the world's list of "This needs sorting out". They're turning from a cult into a mafia.
- johnn11238, on 01/21/2008, -13/+32I for one welcome our new Thetan overlords.
- chaosium, on 01/21/2008, -7/+24Perhaps because you know jack ***** about Scientology other than what South Park showed you.
- pencilneck, on 01/21/2008, -2/+19So what does $cientology define as a cult? Some how I have the gut feeling that if they do clearly define a cult, it would be the pot calling the kettle black.
- redwire, on 01/21/2008, -2/+19Cult: /kĘŚlt/ noun.
1. followers of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices
2. an interest followed with exaggerated zeal; "he always follows the latest fads"; "it was all the rage that season" [syn: fad]
3. followers of an unorthodox, extremist, or false religion or sect who often live outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader
4. a religion or sect that is generally considered to be unorthodox, extremist, or false; "it was a satanic cult"
5. a system of religious beliefs and rituals; "devoted to the cultus of the Blessed Virgin"
