COKE - WHAT GOES AROUND, Coolest Commercial I've ever seen!
moving-picture.com — Hundreds of actors of all playing the same character. Sort of a stop motion live action combo all mashed together. I really can't explain it, just take a look.
- 1016 diggs
- digg it
- tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18Not the coolest commercial ever (Honda cog or choir sound effects commercial anyone?), but that's some cool compositing.
- sdrawkcaB, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6As shown at the end it was actually a bunch of people, not just 4 or 5 moving between shots. If you look closely it is one excellently done shot done all at the same time, as you can see people actually moving a tiny bit. Still a really awesome commercial.
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16wtf, did that old bat steal the homeless guy's umbrella?
- vp0ng, on 10/12/2007, -4/+90site is slow. Here is a youtube direct link to the video

- shrewduser, on 10/12/2007, -15/+13cool ad, it still doesn't stop coke being bad for you....
- ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Here is a Japanese one (by same director) I saw last year:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRnvPu6aY90 - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"cool ad, it still doesn't stop coke being bad for you...."
didn't you listen to the pretty song??? gosh you need to enjoy - TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cooler because the music is by Jack White.
I think you can see him in there towards the middle. - pooper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjiJcX6tNvI
link to the ORIGINAL video... - TheKidd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow.......how'd they cast Leon Phelps, Ladies Man in that video?
- Anubis2051, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Very nice. Something cool that I noticed, if you look at the TV int the background at the beginning, the same effect occurs there. Its nice when directors throw in little features like that.
PS:
Coca-Cola > Pepsi- JJP0223, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Yeah, that was pretty cool. One of the best commercials I have seen in a long time.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2White Stripes, niiiice.
- patientXero, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Sorry my friend. Although Jack White was half of the White Stripes, this commercial was written by him after he left the band.
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3and I thought it was a poly-phonic spree song
guess they suck equally
no artist that values their integrity should ever do a commercial
here have an orange drink - r.i.p. bill hicks
- rambokilla, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5yall... coke is the antichrist:
http://digg.com/health/What_Happens_To_Your_Body_If_You_Drink_A_Coke_Right_Now
I'm suprised you didn't know that. - spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7Those kids can't hold still! Very neat commercial though.
But Pepsi > Coke.- mariowario, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Once they start addin some vitamin B1,B2,B6,B12..etc.etc.coke > pepsi
- zenmouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Seems like Digg has Coca-Cola on the brain today.
- sxtxixtxcxh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7seriously.. i'm thinking after the article about coke's effects on your body got promoted, we got gamed.
- twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -11/+9Has anybody realized that this digg post is Coke's PR response to this digg, posted within the day? http://digg.com/health/What_Happens_To_Your_Body_If_You_Drink_A_Coke_Right_Now
The above article, which got over 2000 diggs, basically talked about how coke destroys your body.
There's another article on digg recently talking about how coke plans to add more crap to their soda to make it appear healthy which is basically BS.
Wake up people... realize when you're being played by a mega-PR generator. They have their eyes all over digg. Social networking sites have their downfalls...
There's a trend of PR trying to pass itself off as "journalism" in modern times. People really need to stop biting into all of this so hard. (that is evident today by how blogs about things and objects are making the technorati top ten list) THINK about what you are digging and why articles are posted where they are...
I believe Digg just removed about 700 fake accounts recently too.. hmm.. I wonder why... - Railer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Look I put the story up, found it while stumbling. I'm not a bot or a part of some Indian click farm, I wish I was. I'm Canadian., actually. I didn't even know about the Coke does to you until just now. I am not nor have I even been employed by coke. As proof I give you another link I added today:
http://digg.com/business_finance/McDonalds_Profits_reach_a_7_HIGH_They_call_it_a_Royale_with_cheese
if you look carefully I forgot the word YEAR right in the title! Seriously would a bot F*** up that bad??
Having said that I can be bought, easily, coke if you're listening.
COCA-COLA BLĀK® Effervescence with Coffee Essence. Try it today!
http://www.coca-colablak.com/index.jsp - aitf311, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Are you kidding? You arent part of the coke propaganda and you give another link to a coke product at the end of your reply? I get how you were trying to be funny, but this is serious, digg is being stolen.
- blimpmaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Railer:
"I'm Canadian"
That's the problem. You speak Canadian. They don't understand you. ;-)
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4wasn't this directed by Jack White, "king of the alternative" ? Not very "alternative" working with a conglomerate like coke.
- patientXero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The music was written by Jack White. The director is Nagi Noda. This commercial was on YouTube, like 7 months ago.
- Psygnosis, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Here's a slightly faster youtube link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-yL9R_Jf3M - sachmanb, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4reminds me of a chemical brothers music video , but --- white stripes - 200 points for sponsoring coke
- cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2errr, nagi noda is a really wonderful visual artist. its a shame you have to compare her to the only other commercial director in your limited knowledge that makes anything similiar.
- jessbrandi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@cazoo
Don't be so quick to bash Cheney...the Chemical Brothers vid is the first thing I thought of when I saw this too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJyHEhdszDg
I don't believe for one second Noda didn't see this video before making that commercial. - bozack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@cazoo - if you've ever seen the collective works of michel gonry, you've gotta agree that this must have at least "inspired" nagi.
first thoughts were - "hey a michel gonry"
- Lovecore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3entertaining, but not the best.
- phillyjo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Wonder whats better publicity for coca-cola.
The advertisement
or
The publicity from someone happening to post it on digg??? - r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hmm, can anyone remember the original? It's pretty much exactly the same except it was an asian girl. Either they've stolen the idea, or hired the same director. And I'm not thinking of Michel Gondry, although the process does remind me of Star Guiar.
- ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yea, does anyone know the Japanese Music Video one that does this same style? I saw it a while back. The effect was cooler in the Japanese one (not coke related). Its for a music video. Anyone know the name? Might of saw it on Digg actually.
- mrcopt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3did you mean this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFjIn3Uhwyw
more videos from Nagi Noda:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Nj7hHdg-kc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jgHA0ECqFU - smasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This ad seems to rip off Yuki's Sentimental Journey video. The concept is exactly the same - but IMO Yuki's version far more cohesive, clear and fun to watch.
The Sentimental Journey video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MFjIn3Uhwyw
Yuki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuki_Isoya - r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2YES! It was sentimental journey that I was thinking of! Isn't digg great? You can get an exact answer to the vague question that I posted.
Anyway, I think that Sentimental Journey is MUCH better than the Coke ad, and Coke should be ashamed of themselves for plagarising an existing concept - and doing very little to it. - allenu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think they plagiarized. It was the same artist (Nagi Noda) who did both.
- Genocyde, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4That commercial was actually quite pathetic.
- twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4quite pathetic for being the PR plant it was by Coke's corporate team.
I'll point you to the 2,000 digg article about how coke destroys your body, which was recently put up on digg...
http://digg.com/health/What_Happens_To_Your_Body_If_You_Drink_A_Coke_Right_Now
Social networking sites have their downfalls... - Railer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'M NOT A PR PLANT YOU DICK HEADS!
Good lord you liberals are dicks, anytime anyone has a different opinion then yours he's a corporate shill, he works for Exxon, Coke, or Wal-mart. STOP IT! It's dismissive and makes you like a moron. I don't walk around on every pot story saying ah it's just a liberal hippy study, other people have opinion different than you, bright intelligent people. I am an academic I teach computer science and have no affiliation with any of these companies.
You want to call me an *****, I'm an *****
IT must be so easy by thinking it's a corporate conspiracy, you don't actually have to think about the opinion, it just makes you look brain dead.
OH BTW could you click on my new submission:

- yocheo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1WHOLLY *****...that reminds me of a ***** sally trip! relapse!
- drastic77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0duuuude. you read my mind. the first part when she starts splitting from herself in the beginning and the fact that when it slows down you see it's real people, not cgi or the same person's image... trippy salvia flashbacks!
- Cleanlyness, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I bet I wan't the only one that rewinded the end to see if the people in the air were for real.
- digitaldater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No went back to look too and couldn't figure out why they weren't still in the air at the end!
Actually it was probably a different take. The take when the people were not in the air.
Notice how the only stop edits are before and after the people/apples are in the air.
- digitaldater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No went back to look too and couldn't figure out why they weren't still in the air at the end!
- dstz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Nice ad, but gaseous acid massively sugar laden beverages suck donkey dicks.
- chungthomas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Similar video here too, this time it is from Taiwan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R-VFzZuflM - vdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10From an editing standpoint, that's really well done. Still, I think the GTA Coke add is the best tho'. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP76g5PIyFA
- twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Buried as S - P - A - M
I really don't care to look at commercials in my free time. This is not news, or important -- it's a useless distraction. This is lame that people would actually dig this up. If you like commercials so much, go watch them on TV and continue wasting your free time seeing how big corporations are throwing billions of dollars into selling you products.- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6N - E - W - S - F - L - A - S - H
If you're looking for something other than a useless distraction, stay away from Digg! Otherwise, shut up and enjoy it like the rest of us! - twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4hey Guy -- I doubt you realized that coke just hit Digg with two PR articles in a few hours. Odd they both got about one hundred diggs relatively fast isn't it?
It might have something to do with someone recently posting a 2,000 digg article about how coke basically destroys your body when you drink it...
It's important people realize this is spam. People today aren't as aware as they could be of when major corporations are pulling the wool over their eyes.
Recently Digg removed about 700 fake accounts... I wonder why...
Maybe if we could identify spam, and rise up to mark it as spam -- PR would realize digg is not friendly to them.. - pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3commercials are some of the best, most well done, pieces of filmography out there. Sometimes i'd much rather watch a few really good commercials than sit through another cheaply made crappy movie... this is one of those really clever, well done, pieces of filmography and it deserves some respect. Im sure it wasnt easy to do. Try to ignore the fact that its advertising coke for a second and actually pay attention to it.
- bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Geez twistedambience - did the Coca-Cola company have sex with your sister or something? There's something more to this than just a one man crusade against PR spam.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6N - E - W - S - F - L - A - S - H
- mewithoutyou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I love comments on YouTube.
"You're grammar is as pathetic as this commercial."

- AgentAnderson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I want the last 1:46 of my life back
- groupofone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just a slight variation on Gondry's original take with the Stripes 'Hardest Button'. Yea, the commercial and others before it were smoother and has the overall same effect, but you call it innovative? Psh.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qRJ-UTBScI
There may not have been 100 Jack & Meg's in the video, but hell, at least it was enjoyable and not about Coke (which, while I drink it, I've never thought, WOW That Coke commercial was SO cool, let's post it to Digg!) - graizur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Welcome to the PR future where people may not even know they are being manipulated and influenced. Wake up human race you are the second smartest race on the planet. Act like it.
- RyuXenon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a very good commercial, I enjoyed it. What made me enjoy it even more was the fact that it was filmed here in my country South Africa! Yipee :) South Africa does have a lot to offer, foreigners should definitely visit us :P
- mwexler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yuki's Sentimental Journey video is by Nagi Noda, who also did this Coke ad.
http://www.dorkmag.com/archives/2006/03/people_nagi_nod.html gives some more info about her work in multiple media around the world.
While Gondry and Noda (and Spike Jonez and others of that group) tap a similar creative vein, their work each has individual touches which make it clear that, like mashups and other "open art" approaches, they influence each other while creating new visual approaches. Its hard to pick one person who has led the others among this wave of visual artists. - stelriah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm drinking a ice cold, refreshingly-delicious Coca Cola right now.
- phogasmic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1coke makes awesome commercials
- digitaldater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How many sets of twins do you think they used? Tiiplets?
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it needed more White Stripes....
The Simpsons took that advice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpZePwr5SHI - Slacker1031, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love it, this commercial doesn't even show what coke is in any way. going by this commercial, for all i know you pour it in your lap and it gets you off. and apparently birds will like you. why the hell is it that commercials aren't about the products anymore, if anything thats a turn-off.
