- abhilash, on 04/25/2008, -30/+411Fastest way to drown a sinking ship: Invite the most hated guy in the world to crack jokes.
- postalblowfish7, on 04/25/2008, -16/+203It's creepy seeing him on that big screen - very orwellian...

Deal or No Deal has been declining in ratings this season with each week showing lower numbers than the last. - http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/04/22/top-nbc-prime ... - TheGonzo, on 08/13/2008, -8/+95the show sucks....period
- altgeeky1, on 04/25/2008, -4/+80That would be TORTURE to watch!
Get it? Ah hahaha - lucidguru, on 04/25/2008, -16/+84Even I could have predicted this folly. What were those idiots thinking?
- jamesallen74, on 04/25/2008, -7/+67Please have Bush appear on ER so their ratings (what's left of them) will tank and the show will FINALLY be pulled off the air. Talk about a sinking ship.
- Zeldafreak104, on 04/25/2008, -4/+62A radio station I was listening to said something like "He's going on Deal or no Deal instead of going of getting his ass kicked on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader."
- thebaron2, on 04/25/2008, -13/+69"a sinking ship" is the key phrase in there. This link is from oldhick's post down below:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/04/22/top-nbc-prime ...
This show has been tanking consistently, doing worse week after week, all season. Trying to blame the continuing declining viewership on a 2 minute Bush cameo is quite the stretch.
The show sucks, which is really the bottom line. Do you think people really tuned out just because Bush was making an appearance, or is it more likely that they'd change the channel when he came on and then flip back once he was done? - jerrolds, on 04/25/2008, -5/+57No Deal.
- Itazura, on 04/25/2008, -23/+74A president should be above such a shameful selfish ploy. This was nothing more than an empty gesture, applauding one soldier on television while ignoring an entire army and the danger they are put in.
- wonderchemist, on 04/25/2008, -2/+40If Bush's PR people were half competent, they wouldn't let the president do a lot of things like:
- Try to dance in Africa.
- Appear on a game show.
- Thanking Austrian troops while reviewing Australian troops.
- Refer to himself using names like "The Decider" and "The Commander Guy"
.. etc - viewtiful4ever, on 04/25/2008, -6/+44that show is television trash
- lolinyerface, on 04/25/2008, -2/+36Welcome....Welcome to City 17!
- asskey, on 04/25/2008, -1/+34Yeah how can Scrubs go away and ER stay on air?
- Philosomatika, on 04/25/2008, -20/+51LOL at Bush
- bloodomen13, on 04/25/2008, -2/+33Howie, here's your shark.... now jump.
- wes00mertes, on 04/25/2008, -1/+31For my sake I hope he gets the $500 trillion dollar suitcase.
- vudicarus, on 04/25/2008, -13/+43This story has nothing to do with correlation or causation. It doesn't say that Bush brought down ratings.
What it does say is that Bush didn't help any. And more importantly, the essence of the post, what's funny because it's ironic is, that Bush said "I’m thrilled to be anywhere with high ratings these days", when in fact that very night turned out to be the show's lowest ratings, equaling Bush's historically low ratings. - jamesallen74, on 04/25/2008, -3/+32Typical un-american comment, pitting an us-vs.-them mentality. Sounds like something from a shool playground.
- MiscMouse, on 04/25/2008, -13/+41At least bush has is managing his time well.
To do List:
1. Speak on Deal or No deal.... Check
2. Learn to eat a pretzel without choking......
3. Learn to say "Nuclear"...
...
321. Fix the budget... - borsaid, on 04/25/2008, -1/+28- talk
- str1fe, on 04/25/2008, -0/+26Soccer Moms really do ruin everything, don't they?
- Navicerts, on 04/25/2008, -16/+41Nice technical analysis. However, aren't you over looking the obvious fact that an appearance from the president of the US would normally be expected to improve ratings as opposed to have no effect at all (or arguably hurt ratings)?
- oldhick, on 04/25/2008, -8/+32I'm saying its ridiculous to think that the idiots that normally watch that show turned it off simply because Bush made a 10 second joke on it. No one is watching the show.
And no, I don't think a presidential appearance would be help ratings. It certainly wouldn't with me or anyone I know, or anyone I can imagine. I want my president to lead the country (damn that'd be nice) not crack wise on some stupid game show.
And by the way, correlations often "seem" obvious, thats why its such a common logical fallacy. - logan074, on 04/25/2008, -5/+26He didn't even say he supported Bush. He just isn't jumping to the conclusion that the low ratings of a ***** show are his fault.
- gmiley, on 04/25/2008, -1/+22"By the power of Greyskull"?
- danarama, on 04/25/2008, -1/+19his "three trillion dollar deal" joke nearly made me puke
- gage006, on 04/25/2008, -2/+19Somebody has obviously never been outside the US
- stevetrojanman, on 04/25/2008, -6/+22Wrong President...
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -4/+19Aww come on, did you expect any less of a conclusion jump from the Digg crowd.
- laddr, on 04/25/2008, -1/+15Soccer Moms :/
- pojut, on 04/25/2008, -0/+14"My hockey mom can beat up your soccer mom"
Best bumper sticker I've ever seen. - boredsam, on 04/25/2008, -1/+15We like bling over here, it helps us to forget that our currency isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
- SilentRamble42, on 04/25/2008, -4/+17How much bonus cash do you think the solider got for pretending to actually be in awe of "the commander in chief?"
- Kohaxx, on 04/25/2008, -1/+14At least that would be enough to get him impeached.
- StatiK69, on 04/25/2008, -3/+16Just wait until he appears on American Idol. It would be fun to watch Simon tear him a new one... and no I don't watch idol... just the thought of Simon laying into him makes me LOL
- pulse768, on 04/25/2008, -0/+12We're easily distracted by shiny things.
That and boobs. - 11oops, on 04/25/2008, -14/+26I sometimes watch it on Mondays, however when I heard Bush was going to appear I made sure to NOT watch.
- WNW3, on 04/25/2008, -0/+12They did reveal it ahead of time, lots of ads
- Newbyneon, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14Maybe the ratings dropped just because the show sucks.......
- UnFriendlyFire, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12I had that same thought. I didn't watch that night because I forgot it was on, or maybe it was a sub-conscious aversion to bush
- zerozidane, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12I was thinking EXACTLY that when I hit the show replies button.
- noahhoward, on 04/25/2008, -9/+20Further evidence of a discconect, Family Guy has had a cameo from Bush, and survived. He can apparently only kill a show once it's dead. Odd you'd think a guy who could conjur black-seeking hurricanes would be able to kill a TV show.
- notoneofus, on 04/25/2008, -1/+12That mess extends far beyond the borders of the U.S.
- skankyBacon, on 04/25/2008, -3/+14And unless you're a Nielsen house, it made absolutely no difference. Congratulations.
- nightsweat, on 04/25/2008, -6/+16I'm glad all the problems we have to face as a nation were solved in time for him to appear on a frickin' game show.
- inactive, on 04/25/2008, -5/+15How was it a surprise when it was announced he was doing it a few weeks ago?
- thebaron2, on 04/25/2008, -3/+13I don't like Bush. But I'm not stupid enough to attempt the logical leap of faith that the Bush's cameo was responsible for sinking the ratings, as the title appears to imply.
