- RyanCoke, on 01/18/2009, -2/+133In the interview, it is mentioned that the chapters could get darker.
How the hell can it get darker? Everyone gets cancer? Sorry, I just miss Dualla. - misterpony, on 01/17/2009, -16/+138That was one of the greatest episodes of TV ever. A true classic. Great interview with Ron, too, explaining it all. Not that it needs explaining, it's just interesting to hear the thought process of writing it. Just awesome.
- EternalTyranny, on 01/18/2009, -1/+114Wasted Adama is so much better than sober Adama
- Mittens27, on 01/18/2009, -7/+106Don't you fraking get it? We're all toasters! You're a skin-job, Bill!
- NeoSporin, on 01/18/2009, -3/+69"Please, Gaeta. I just want to hold on to this moment as long as I can"
BOOM! - icexe, on 01/18/2009, -5/+56all I can say is, all that time I spent waiting for the new season to start...was worth it!!!
- GreatSunJester, on 01/18/2009, -0/+48Can't be-- no "H" on her forehead.
- lroche, on 01/18/2009, -1/+48No matter who they revealed to be the fifth some people will be unhappy with the choice. I'm fine with it and excited to see where the final season is going.
- onClipEvent, on 01/18/2009, -1/+41i'm sorta surprised that the writers have little long-term story idea. They're just making this ***** up as they go along.
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+39Oh, *****. So sorry. I assumed anyone who would click on a story called " 'Battlestar Galactica' producer defends his Final Cylon pick" and then read through all the comments would understand that the identity of said 5th Cylon migh just be discussed. Seriously, the title of this submission tells you that this story is about what happened in the most recent episode, if you didn't want to see any spoilers you should have avoided this story. Is the entire internet supposed to wait 3 weeks after episodes air to discuss it just in case some idiot doesn't pay attention to the title of the topic and comes in and start bitching about spoilers?
- paksman, on 01/18/2009, -0/+39i almost choked on peanut m&m's when she heatshot herself out of nowhere
- blikemike88, on 01/18/2009, -0/+37Yeah but the continuing theme of being dark really works for this show. If it wasn't dark, how would the last episode before the break have gone?
(Land on Earth)
Adama: Holy *****, this grass is green!
Roslin: Picnic?
Adama: Race you! - NyteStarNyne, on 01/18/2009, -2/+35Her acting in the latest episode (especially the beach scene) was Oscar worthy.
- tommyboy88, on 01/18/2009, -9/+41I was angry when starbuck cremated herself... wouldn’t you at least pull a few pranks with your own corpes!
Come on now have a sense of humour starbuck... - SilasTomorrow, on 01/18/2009, -4/+34Jeez, people! Are any of you writers? Will you LET them tell their story and see how it plays out? It might actually work.
*****, were any of you the annoying kid at storytime who kept asking questions about why Little Red Riding Hood wanted to go see Grandma, what the temperature was, or whether trans-forest travel was the most logical path? Just shut up and enjoy the ride. - inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+28Mysterious death? She was executed for being a traitor.
- hauntedchippy, on 01/18/2009, -3/+30HEADSHOT
- Amazetbm, on 01/18/2009, -0/+25I spit out my beer when that happened. These last ten episodes look like they're gonna be a real roller coaster ride.
- FattyCorpuscle, on 01/18/2009, -0/+25Ellen's not the only fifth, they're all the fifth! Cylons are made of people, PEOPLE!
- idontlikeyou2, on 01/18/2009, -7/+32When D'Anna said that only 4 of the final 5 cylon was in the fleet in season 4, it pretty much narrowed it down to Ellen, billy and some other misc characters. I thought Ellen was a good choice
- SeaICIubber, on 01/18/2009, -4/+28Necrophilia, girl-on-girl and pseudo masturbation all rolled into one!
- MSUKate, on 01/18/2009, -0/+23Dee's ending was so shocking!!!!
I mean, I know it makes sense in the plotline and her end becomes a catalyst for a lot of sh-t.
But I'm gonna miss her.
(personally I thought they were gonna reveal her as the last cylon since they followed her around for the first half of the episode.
It was heartbreaking how shaken she was when she found those things on the beach.
Can't wait for more. - tekhna, on 01/18/2009, -0/+22I actually think it was a stroke of brilliance to make the final Cylon a character that up until that point had been as pernicious, obnoxious and unpleasant as any number of humans we all know. The final 4 were mostly a bunch of stoic, stalwart characters with none of the trivial human qualities Ellen had. As damn annoying as she was.
Plus, the entire human race is Cylon anyways, so what does it matter? - iLemon, on 01/18/2009, -0/+21So was Ellen resurrected since she died in range of one of the resurrection ships?
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -2/+22I'm going with Dirk Benedict in drag
- ultimate_ed, on 01/18/2009, -0/+20Problems with your theory:
1. Sharon came up positive on Baltar's machine and it scared the crap out of him
2. They identified all the remains they found on Earth as Cylon and not Human. Though, we don't really know what the differences are that they can identify.
As for the notion that Dualla or Ellen can resurrect - It doesn't seem to work that way. The resurrection ships were full of dormant bodies of the original seven models. There were, presumably, no bodies of the final five models for them to download into. - mojoel, on 01/18/2009, -2/+21Interesting read!!
“Sometimes I live in the country. Sometimes I live in the town. Sometimes I get a great notion. To jump in the river and drown.”
"Sometimes a Great Notion" by Ken Kesey - AaronMT, on 01/18/2009, -2/+20Apparently you've seen nine other episodes that none of us have.
- eclectro, on 01/18/2009, -0/+17You forget that one of her ovaries was stolen back on Caprica. The new Starbuck could simply be the fruition of the dark goings on there.
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -1/+18Apples and Oranges. Both stories are great and stand on their own.
- judicar, on 01/18/2009, -1/+18someone asked?
- ghuytro, on 01/18/2009, -1/+172 girls, 1 corpse
- paksman, on 01/18/2009, -0/+16Lol'd at the way he said "frack you" to sol
- orlandogeek, on 01/18/2009, -1/+15Actually if you read any interviews or listen to the podcasts from early seasons, this show has always been a character drama that happens to be set in a sci-fi world. Powerful thought provoking layered stories require strong characters and time spent developing those characters. If they had not done this, the show would have meandered badly and devolved into the typical Star Trek / Stargate villian or catastrophe of the week theme. While this is fun in those shows, it's still pretty mindless in the long run as there is more focus put on shiny special effects instead of who the characters are and why they do what they do.
- blikemike88, on 01/18/2009, -0/+14Except the extreme violation I felt when he wheezed the words, "main vein."
- RayDude, on 01/18/2009, -6/+19Starbuck is a clone, created by "God" the oldest of the machines.
Well, that's where I'm putting my money. - inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+13You left out the part where Boxey wakes up and realizes it was all just a dream.
- paksman, on 01/18/2009, -0/+13what if ellen was already ressurected by brother cavils way back in new caprica and just hidden from the rebel cylons?
- Kronos6948, on 01/18/2009, -0/+13That makes no sense. It was hers and Gaeta's quarters. Why would someone want to shoot D? Did you even read the article?
- ShadySpace, on 01/18/2009, -15/+27IT'S IN THE FRACKIN SHIP
- galewgleason, on 01/18/2009, -5/+17So if Ellen is the 5th, that means that none of the people tested by Baltar's Cylon detector came up negative, which means that everyone may very well be cylon. Dee realized this when she picked up her jacks and had a memory like the other final 4, which would be why she was so nonchalant about killing herself (she's just going to come back). When they all realize that there are no humans they'll see how silly they were to be fighting one another and live happily ever after. What do I win?
- oldhick, on 01/18/2009, -2/+14"You don't get out much.", we're talking about TV, not touring the world. Second, maybe he simply has different taste than you do. Based on your comment, it appears you don't truly understand Battlestar.
*The show takes itself way too seriously. - some of us like that.
*The show writes itself into corners and then makes some bold move to back itself out. Perfect example, Cylon's can't really die - yeah, they're machines.
*The dialog. It's a soap-opera in space. - yup, did you ever see the original. That's exactly what Battlestar was originally, and that's what it is now. It's just a good one.
*The acting isn't always stellar... - it's TV.
Some like it, some don't. For me personally, it's definitely one of the best TV series I've ever watched. That's my taste. - mattw, on 01/18/2009, -0/+11Wow. When will the internet cease to amaze.
- knute5, on 01/18/2009, -1/+12The truth is ... Starbuck killed Laura Palmer.
- Kronos6948, on 01/18/2009, -0/+11I guess you didn't read the article either.
- sharkd, on 01/18/2009, -0/+10Smoke her a kipper, she'll be back for breakfast.
- amk29j, on 01/18/2009, -1/+11I don't like "apples to oranges." There are many similarities between apples and oranges. They're both fruit, they both have outer shells, they're both sweet, they both are acidic, they are both delicious.
But seriously, Star Wars has epic plot holes and horrible acting (esp. Episodes 1, 2, & 3) . It's more like comparing an avocado and an orange. - betheturtle, on 01/18/2009, -6/+16Starbuck is a hologram. Has been the whole time. Did anyone ever put their hand on her shoulder?
Oh, really? Guess I should have watched it. - knute5, on 01/18/2009, -1/+11I thought this was one of the better episodes - yes, I noticed a drop-off during 3 and 4. What we thought were the two big questions (Earth? Final Cylons?) have been answered ... maybe. But the 10-episode story arc that will end the series begins with a connection between the Capricans and contemporary Earth, where somehow we have a Cylon link, toasters AND skin jobs. And Starbuck, WTF?
I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. - infinityredux, on 01/18/2009, -0/+10Why does it matter if he's making it up as he goes along or if he had it all planned since he was born?
What makes a show good is a good plot, characters, acting etc. Not the point in time the writers come with ideas. -
