- killscreenes, on 01/10/2009, -4/+146So wait, let me get this straight... Jack Bauer talks about war, and that means Obama "kidnapped" him?? This article is whack.
- timedalkat, on 01/10/2009, -5/+140Wait till they find out Jack Bauer is really Canadian and his grandpa created socialized health care there!
- Dumbledorito, on 01/10/2009, -7/+115Are conservatives still using a TV show as a justification for torture?
Why stop there? Why not cite "Supernatural" as a sign that we need to train our law enforcement personnel how to exorcise demonic entities? - WriterSD, on 01/10/2009, -6/+70I like my entertainment to stay that way - entertaining. It's annoying when TV shows start preaching at their audience, no matter what the topic or what side they are on. :-/
- 4321234, on 01/10/2009, -0/+55Funny cuz it's true.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Douglas - georgemason01, on 01/11/2009, -3/+55In season 2 of 24 it turned out the a nuclear bomb detonated on U.S. soil was a result of a plot by oil tycoons looking to start a war for profit. In season 5, the President himself turns out to be the villain. These pro-war conservatives are somehow able to view this show through a prism and only see what they want to, when in reality it is a reasonably unbiased show without any political allegiance.
- AmyVernon, on 01/10/2009, -2/+50This is really silly. There have always been both conservatives and liberals on the writing staff and neocons and raving commies among its fans. Jack has always, always, always been conflicted about his actions, just did what he needed to do. It's a TV show and for anyone to hold him up as an example of what we should be doing or as what we should not be doing is to completely miss the point of life, the universe and everything. Which, of course, is 42.
- radda, on 01/11/2009, -5/+49I always thought Jack voted Democrat anyway. He seemed to really like Palmer, and even told him that dropping out of the election was a bad idea.
Then there's the whole part where a conservative President turns out to be a traitorous douchebag. lolrepublicans I guess. - matrixbandit, on 01/11/2009, -1/+44This whole article is *****. The entire premise hinges on the assumption that the show is changing direction in response to the election of a more liberal president. This premise is PROVEN wrong by the fact that the Season 7 Preview, complete with the court scene wherein Jack Bauer is being questioned regarding his use of torture, was released over a year ago. Look at the upload date for this video:

It's January 9th, 2008
Obama hadn't even cleared the primaries yet. This is retarded. - JJ1983, on 01/10/2009, -0/+42This article is crazy. The story for the new season was scripted more than a year ago, prior to the writer's strike causing the postponement of Day Seven.
- StratoStreak, on 01/10/2009, -8/+43I find it funny people think Obama will be anti-war. You guys are in for a very rude awakening.
- pintomp3, on 01/11/2009, -0/+25Not anti-war, less pro-war than McCain.
- tiology, on 01/10/2009, -0/+23This is a lie. I saw a pre-screening of the season premiere. He was at the senate hearing about CTU; and 5 minutes later he was was whisked away by the FBI. Not giving a spoiler away; but he hasn't changed :)
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -0/+23Welcome to the world of "conservative" talk radio. Rush and Hannity lie out their asses constantly.
- tmyprod, on 01/11/2009, -4/+26Conservative = pro American? ***** you, Michael Wilson.
- pintomp3, on 01/11/2009, -1/+22I guess torture is a conservative value.
- Altair27, on 01/10/2009, -1/+22Title = misleading. I thought this was going to be the plot for the new season.... :(
- HisShadow, on 01/11/2009, -7/+27No wonder the conservative got trounced this last election: most of them seem to be raving ***** lunatics. Are we going to have jackasses forming militias again, and preaching hatred for government? Because last time the conservative forces instilled their gun crazy right wing lunacy in the populace, you created Timothy McViegh. Maybe it's time the neo-con ***** in the USA take a good hard look at the insanity they spout, or has 8 years of the disconnected-from-reality Bush administration made so you can't find sanity on a map anymore?
- manlyandy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+19he killed like 15 people in the pre-season episode already.
- BradHAWK, on 01/11/2009, -0/+17I love the way they treat religion on BSG.
- mu0p, on 01/10/2009, -3/+20Truth. I'm a dyed in the wool progressive and a Jack Bauer fanatic. Cry some more conservatives, the world isn't as black and white as you'd like it to be.
- Tokenmac, on 01/11/2009, -2/+18Wait 42 is just 24 backwords and 24 is just 1 up from 23.
Great now Jim Carrey is gonna kill us all. - TSK05, on 01/11/2009, -2/+18I am a Republican but these are some crazy people. It's a damn show, who gives a *****? I love 24, by the way
""It's clearly a sign the producers are trying to adapt to a new political reality," said the conservative commentator Christian Toto."
Oh noes!!!
"That approach might generate a few new fans, but it could turn off those who saw 24 as that rare Hollywood product that took the threat of terrorism seriously - and didn't feel the need to rationalise taking extreme measures to protect the innocent." .
.... So this will alienate the idiots that thought 24 is real? Oh well, I think I can live with that. - coyote1284, on 01/11/2009, -0/+15Indeed, he is only anti-Iraq war, which, as it seems most have forgot, took focus away from Afghanistan, Al-Qaida, and their backers the Taliban. Obama said he'd go after Osam Bin Laden wherever he is. So whether or not you believe that AQ and OBL even really exist, you can be sure that (I say in respect for my future commander-in-chief) Barack Hussein Obama will return the focus where it started in 2001.
- geezshock, on 01/11/2009, -1/+15"DAMMIT !!"
- Easty, on 01/11/2009, -1/+14Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Good job staying relevant, guys! - ISurfTooMuch, on 01/11/2009, -1/+14They live with themselves because they believe that only their set of values represent what this country should be about. It's a classic fascist mindset. They have convinced themselves that they are right, and everyone who disagrees with them is not only wrong but is unworthy of being called an American. Not all conservatives are like this, of course, but there is a very vocal fringe element who espouses this view. Watch Fox News and read its blogs, and you'll see this in action. I watched that so-called news channel last fall, and they seemed to be broadcasting to a warped parallel Earth that I don't live on. Thankfully, many others felt the same way, as illustrated by the Republicans' crushing defeat at the polls.
- Tarl, on 01/11/2009, -1/+14Why not?
We use "supernatural" for continuing war efforts. - lars5, on 01/11/2009, -0/+12omg... the only thing i have to say to these conservatives can only be expressed in the words of ben affleck
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYMfIvvElBs - BTallack, on 01/11/2009, -1/+13"They believe that the recent glut of anti-war films that bombed at the box office - including Rendition, which starred Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal; In the Valley of Elah, featuring Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron and Lambs for Lions, Robert Redford's political drama with Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep - are proof that Hollywood is out of touch with the American public. "
Or maybe they were just lousy movies. - robojerk, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11I agree with BradHAWK. The show has 2 (You could say 3 arguably) main religions going on.
The Fleet is a polytheist society, worshiping the greek gods.
The Cylons are monotheist, claiming that there is one true
Baltar's cult is a bastardization of the Cylons monotheist society. It involves lots of sex orgies and him as a prophet.
The show in my opinion shows humanity at it's ugliest. Religious beliefs sometimes brings out the ugliest in us. I believe the cylons think they are on a mission of god, first they wanted to genocide the humans, then maybe eventually convert them on New Caprica?
Baltar is a manipulator and a survivalist. I do believe that the cylons have successfully converted him but I do know that he does struggle with the 6 that he sees in his mind, so I still don't know if he actually believes in the fact that he's the prophet.
For those of you that haven't seen BSG, there is a lot more going on than the religion. There's also other things going on, like is it okay to kill the cylons at any cost? Including suicide bombings, manipulation in government, fear tactics. As a Sci Fi show it does focus on the drama more than anything else. - Pixelante, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11Kidnapping Jack Bauer is about as sane a proposition as locking MacGyver in the tool shed.
- HisShadow, on 01/11/2009, -1/+11It's funnier because the US can let the "captains of industry" ground the ship, then pay them trillions to make it better, but claim that you USAnians can't afford to give every American decent healthcare.
- Tarl, on 01/11/2009, -2/+12They were the ones who missed the debates. Especially the third one.
- coyote1284, on 01/11/2009, -1/+10Wait, so the writers of 24 saw into the future from the writer's strike, knew that Obama would be elected, and wrote the script around that? Makes perfect sence.
- Bauer22, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9Ok, Jack Bauer has spent years killing and torturing anybody that he thinks is a terrorist. You didn't think there would be one season when someone would complain about it?
Oh and anyhow, John McCain was on 24 for FSM Sake! http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/02/09/24-cameo-by-s ... - manlyandy, on 01/11/2009, -2/+11nobody likes you
- jakereilly, on 01/11/2009, -1/+10Michael Wilson, director of the documentary Michael Moore Hates America, said Hollywood and grassroots conservatives need to fight harder to "impart their ideas into pop culture" by putting up the money for films that hide a conservative message in a popular format.
He said: "Hollywood doesn't like us. They don't like our pro-American, pro-liberty, self-interested way of life, and they certainly don't think our ideas would work on film.
Pro-American? WTF is this *****? Now I hate liberals just as much as conservatives, but when ANYBODY claims that they are more American than somebody else I turn on the ***** detector. I mean, really? How do these bastards live with themselves?
God damn. - elektronjunge, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8weren't the plot and trailers for season 7 released 2 years ago?
- evilchuck, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8This season was delayed by the WGA strike. I am sure that most of this season was shot before Obama was even elected (and maybe even before the primary season was over). Thats all I feel like saying on this topic because beyond that ***** is everywhere.
- Wildthing, on 01/11/2009, -7/+15Even though I'm religious, I still cringe whenever Battlestar Galactica and Heroes talk about God. I go to church to be preached to. I watch television shows to be entertained.
- Bartboy919, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9What a bunch of pussies. Why don't they grow a pair and deal with it.
- markbrown, on 01/11/2009, -1/+9Dear God, less than 18 hours now until season 7.
/jizz - morphinapg, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Yeah this is stupid, today's premiere was filmed in September of 2007.
- Abomonog, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7BSG treats religion perfectly. On top of dealing with both mono and polytheism in the same show it also shows you the underlying insanity that all organized religion requires to keep it's flocks in line.
The "gods" in the show drop perfect apples at the perfect time (Baltars salvation in court, the singing BSG, and Starbucks timely return to name a few) and it's just enough to keep both the Cylons and Humans dipping and fetching in the name of God(s) all the way to Earth. It's great how so many characters see mere coincidence as signs of their gods. Hopefully, if the trends continue, we are going to see a major religious fallout in the show. Hopefully it's one that involves lots of action, gunfire, and death as BSG seems to do it oh so well. You really need to watch the show from a theology viewpoint or you miss virtually everybodies motivations. - bwagner330, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Im not an obama fan but this is ridiculous the strike cancelled season was going to begin with a congressional hearing as well.
- WiLLGT09, on 01/11/2009, -3/+9*sigh* someone call the waaaambulance.
- Stagle, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7bitch, bitch, bitch, these whiny conservatives need a nap.
- Brassbud, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6Diplomacy makes for lousy TV.
