- Caruthers, on 10/12/2007, -22/+245Thank you.
- datter, on 10/12/2007, -16/+160How in the world can you label a news article about a TV show "Breaking"?
- SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -9/+134Finally! Actually, I thought this most recent episode was good and that it seemed to finally be going somewhere.
- mlschop, on 10/12/2007, -10/+117i'd say after the long winter break, season 3 has had the best stretch of episodes since S1
- Shabadoo, on 10/12/2007, -13/+90BREAKING on ANY story is a bad idea. It's obnoxious.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+60Then don't watch...problem solved. *****, people are so bitter about stupid ***** on here.
- chrisirmo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+48I copied directly from the blog headline and forgot to delete it. Yes, "breaking" on a TV story is a bad idea.
- daborg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31"This isn't breaking. Damon and Carlton have been saying this for about a year now."
Yes it is. Wishing something and having the wish granted are two different things. Just because Damon and Carlton wanted it was no guarantee that ABC would agree to it. - 1jaxstate1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I'm one of the few who still enjoy Lost. It has been stated in the past that they were looking at a 5 year run. Keep up the good work.
- jtrost, on 10/12/2007, -17/+41This isn't breaking. Damon and Carlton have been saying this for about a year now.
- eatmorgnome, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28So what do you mean exactly?
The series is still running, so obviously there are unresolved questions.
But you seriously can't say that they haven't been giving us answers. For example, a big chunk of Season 1 was about the mysterious hatch. Well the first episode of Season 2, we see exactly what is in the hatch. And we find out stuff about a bunch of hatches. Also, one of the major early mysteries were the Others. Well, we know tons about them now too.
And another exam...
Oh... wait...you're just another one of those puke posters who puke the same tired old cynical statements every time certain threads appear.
Nevermind - modsuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24LOST has never been for viewers who are looking for instant gratification. If you want instant gratification watch episodic TV instead of serial dramas.
I think many of the commenters on LOST are just trolls who stopped watching after about episode 7 in season 2 because the plot wasn't moving fast enough. If you actually stuck with the show into season 3 you'd find that it's been quite rewarding to longtime viewers as they have been connecting lots of dots since the show came back in February. - keyboardduder, on 10/12/2007, -15/+37breaking is a cheap-attention-getter. Stop it.
- mrjeffery, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26BREAKING: This word is the new AMAZING
- Tyr7BE, on 10/12/2007, -9/+28What are you talking about? It's BREAKING!! That means it's new!
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22"BREAKING on ANY story is a bad idea. It's obnoxious."
What if it was a story about somethin breaking?
Like this:
BREAKING Glass Falls From SkySkaper Injuring Dozens!! - kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I saw this story and turned to my friend to say...
"You know what happens next? A bunch of people will say stupid crap about how great it is that Lost is ending, smugly. They will get dugg down. Others will say it's a great show and get dugg up. But TONS of people will whine and bitch about how the word BREAKING was used in the story and completely ignore that fact that even if they didn't digg, they still came to the story and commented, therefore the cheap, effective tactic worked."
I've been here too long. And yes, the friend is imaginary and resides in my mother's basement with me. - modsuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17This doesn't really merit breaking news status. It has long been speculated that the show would run 5 seasons, this is just confirmation of that. I'm glad to know officially they have an end point because I'd hate them to stretch it beyond 5 seasons for the sake of the network.
- Chongo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I was one of the silent "pukers" for the first 5 or so episodes of this season. As a critical fan, I am becoming more and more satisfied with the progress of the show. Sure, there is no way around "stringing" the viewers along... Its basic business... get them to come back next week.
I think the creators are listening to the reactions of the audience and are slowly gearing towards making us happy. - Sblader5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I'm a huge lost fan, but I'm glad they are actually setting a time frame for its end, otherwise it would just get long and drawn out. All good things must come to an end eventually.
- KlayBorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Stop putting Breaking: in titles unless its something really dramatic and important,
Examples where it is suitable:
Deaths
Terrorist attacks
Assignation attempts
Impeachment
Declaration of war - Kaosu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Oh dear. Including this story, the last 3 front page stories have breaking in the title . .. .
- thezettabytes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17@donelson "Yes, but if you look at the viewing figures, it's ALREADY TOO LATE."
What planet do you live on?
Lost = Top 20 show in total viewers
Lost = Top 10 show in the advertiser friendly 18-49 demo
Lost ahead of shows like heroes rating wise - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Well, we finally got what we wanted. A conclusion to Lost on a reasonable timeframe. Great news, couldn't be happier. Really proud of you guys for sticking to principle and not selling out.
So... see you guys in two years for the jihad against Digg with submissions of online petitions to save Lost? - dagamer34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11You see, what I've learned from watching countless series of anime is that series that have definite numbers of episodes (26, 52) are often much better than series that go on until the public gets tired of them because they won't pull drastic ***** at the end to attract more viewers and each and every episode will have some purpose in the overall plot.
- koretico, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16[BREAKING] nothing new....
- mlschop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11because it was never official. just because the producers said they wanted to cap it at 5 seasons doesn't mean ABC wants that. and what the network wants it gets...
- bebop717, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12What's with all the breaking titles on the front page I counted 3.
- nukethewhales, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Yea. Too bad you can't block a show like I block you.
Oh well. - Skitals, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Guess I'm one of the few that still likes this show. I will be sad to see it go. You can argue whether the plot ever really goes anywhere, but I think it has some of the greatest characters, ever. I also love its cinematic aesthetic and production values.
- GoatBn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The second half of season 3 is comparable (but still not as good) as season 1. Dont let season 2 ruin the show for you...invest some time in season 3 before you make up your mind.
- Scientifik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12So it's still going to take 44 episodes to wrap up what they have now?
- timdorr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Uh, that's kind of the point of the block system, isn't it?
- th3heretic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12My god, there are 3 breaking stories in a row !
- daborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Dude i heard this in Sept/October of last year."
No you didn't. You heard that the producers has it planned out for 5-6 seasons and that they'd LIKE for it to run to that length. That is not the same thing as ABC agreeing to keep the series on for that long exactly and not cancel it or try to drag it out longer. - Mossman85, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8makes sense. my theory is he was hungry.
- Blackbow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10LOST = Best written show on TV. Too bad 90% of the U.S. TV audience has severe ADD.
- reed311, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'll be sad to see it go. I think Lost is the greatest television show of all time and is the only show I've watched in the past 5 years. I think 5 seasons is good, I don't want it to run on too long and then have to do a rush-job finale.
- BumbyKnuckles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Bout damn time
- Mossman85, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Lost is the ultimate DVD experience. There's a lot of frustration when it comes to getting answers to the mysteries of the show, but if you watch it on DVD straight through and have patience, it's a rewarding experience. I think in four or five years from now after the show is complete and out on HD-DVD or Bluray it's going to be worth it.
- das7282, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I wish people would stop using the word BREAKING in the damn titles. From now on if I see BREAKING in the title, I'm going to bury the story as Lame. Having BREAKING in the title makes the story Lame!
Please stop! - crazybrit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7That was part of a bigger storyline.
Douche much? - ronfez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hopefully they keep Brian K. Vaughan on as a writer.
Razzle Dazzle! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I hate you.
- jockser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why not a spin-off show like: CSI: Island or a movie: meet the others.
- dorianh49, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Both are better than "AWESOME".
- haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Although I am a huge fan of lost, I am glad its finishing... if the network said 'Wait 6 seasons and you mich actually find out what is going on' i wouldnt be a happy bunny.... unless they had an episode daily...
- conman16x, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6DeskFLyer talks too much. That makes me mad.
- conman16x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You're buried for being like the 20th person to complain about the use of the word "Breaking:"! So there!
- tripleplay369, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I thought we already knew this. Either way, Wednesday's epidode was life changing.
