- jsreid, on 10/10/2007, -4/+74enough with the "Breaking!" headlines.
- xpose, on 10/10/2007, -6/+48I was going to watch this no matter who directed it. But the fact it is Kevin Smith is even better!
- LowROI, on 10/10/2007, -1/+37Buried for "breaking" abuse :(
- Vapid, on 10/10/2007, -10/+32This is breaking news and hits front page of Digg? God help us. That recent post about Digg being predictable is totally accurate.
- Ventolin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24This isn't "breaking". Go read a thesaurus and find something new.
- DoTheFandango, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Are people digging him down for his opinion or grammar?
- guise, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Snooch to the nooch
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18""The Japanese dudes are gay, right?" He was kidding."
Not that there is anything wrong with that. - dokbeast7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14When i first read the title of this story in the rss, i read "kevin rose" and I was like WTF? This makes a lot more sense.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1337. Superman sucked 37 dicks.
In a row? - horizontaleight, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Knock off the BREAKING ***** already.
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Season 2 is coming in the fall, this is coming in April (thought originally they had said the Origins series would come before season 2.)
- Toshibi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Nah, that's when Heroes takes it's Hiatus but after last year when NBC did that and their ratings went into the toilet for the whole network, they set up Heroes: Origins to keeps people watching...we get 30 Episodes of Heroes this next year instead of just 24!
- edru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8seriously - and even if there is "breaking" news - im sure kevin smith directing a show isnt one of them..
- bastardo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Cool news, but dugg down for gross misunderstanding of the use of "BREAKING!"
No, Kevin Smith directing an episode on ***** TV is not BREAKING news, goddamnit. - bIuebonics, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8dude, seriously, you've been here for ~1.5 years and you're surprised? i know some people are slow learners, but wow...
- glitch47, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I work in hollywood. This is common knowledge about why so many feature directors will direct tv pilots. They get paycheck for creating the "look and style" of the show.
But if you're looking for a source:
"If a pilot goes to series, it can be much more than a one-time payout. If a pilot gets a series order, the director will see a royalty of somewhere between $1,000-$5,000 an episode even if he doesn't go behind the camera again for any of the episodes."

- glitch47, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6
I don't know why I bother with Digg anymore.
If you actually provide information or try to engage in genuine discussion, you just get dugg down. - guise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The source says he is writing as well as directing the first episode so ,im sure there will be plenty of banter in the dialogue
- mashw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8What kind of person regards this as breaking news? It's good news but it is not breaking for ***** sake.
- bIuebonics, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5if you have problems with his use of the term "breaking" in context to the article, then i'm pretty sure a thesaurus full of SYNONYMS (assuming there is even a definition in relation to this usage and it's not just figurative speech) isn't going to help the issue...
- SilentRamble42, on 10/10/2007, -13/+18Now if only Heroes didn't throw away all it's credibility in the season finale.
- glitch47, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Well, that's a lot of money for Kevin-- if you direct the first show of a new series, even if you never do any more work on the show at all, you still get a paycheck for every single episode that airs from then on...
- xeroclass, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Try not to suck any dicks on the way to the Fortress of Solitude!
- thrallie, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10wait..April? Thats when heroes starts up again? What the *****! I need it sooner!
- commonsence21, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's already broken, with that crack down the middle.
Thank you, thank you. - nico623, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5BREAKING ! Kevin Smith still running on Jay & Silent bob skits
- ElCazador, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3@ glitch47
I dugg you up. That was a good explanation, thanks for it. Please keep on contributing, or else the idiots will win.
If you have something worthwhile to contribute, do so. If you like what others say, say so. And digg'em up.
I for one don't care about the popularity contest. Sticks and stones..... but being dugg down will never hurt me!
(Geez, now I'm just ASKING for it, ain't I?) - gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5He's also the director of that new show Reaper on the CW, which is actually pretty funny from the previews/reviews.
- feshmania, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Mallrats was one of my favorite movies back in the day, Dogma is a great movie, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was exactly what it was meant to be, and Clerks 2 was pretty damn funny if you ask me.
- BevansDesign, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm pretty sure he only directed the first episode (like he's doing here).
Don't bother with previews and reviews. Just check your local Torrent site for the first episode. - saahmed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I think he was trying to mimic the hilarious Japanese dude on Heroes.

Eh *****, just go ahead and tell me what the hell you're talking about. Just because you like the series or Smith, does not mean either are part of a system other than Hollywood's. - JiMiThInG, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2A story that involves both Heroes and Kevin Smith should be on the front page...at least much more so then another iPhone story..
- bIuebonics, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2he sucked a whole bag of dicks...
- actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Thank you, sir. Didn't know that's how it broke down. Lucky DGA bastards.
- emmcubed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2In addition, there was a time he was slated to direct the new Superman...(back even as far as Nick Cage was being considered for the role and Tim Burton had bowed out).
- emmcubed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Are you at all aware of his involvement in comics over the years? For example, I believe he penned a whole Green Arrow series, as well as contributing to many others. Seems like a more than logical choice to me.
- kringle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Actually, IMHO, I think Kevin Smith will do an awesome job--the guy knows his comic books. Check out his interview on Geekdrome: http://revision3.com/geekdrome/2006-02-20
- mrballcb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Here's the video of the announcement. Tim Kring and the cast of Heroes are all present when he announces it and Kevin comes out (of the closet?)

Good Lord, I wish I could get Ali Larter to hug me like that. - revital9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Smith is a great director. Jay and Silent Bob RULE!

P.S. I dugg him UP. - Thepirateking, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Afleck was the bomb in phantoms Yo!
- cemshid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Here's a video of Kevin Smith at Heroes Panel!
http://www.heroesrevealed.com/news/sdcc-2007-kevin-smith-to-direct-a-heroesorigins-episode/ - gopher043, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Didn't he already make a gay superhero movie? I believe it was Dogma starring Afleck and Damon.
- actorboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Source please.
- 8bit_Hero, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4(from a big kevin smith fan)
This can go both ways. He's directing so he might contribute to the story and dialogue but on the downside he is not a visual director. i'm in the wait and see camp. - nova9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Kevin and Jay.
