- Lucas123, on 09/17/2009, -1/+9Why doesn't she just put the Huffingtonpost.com on television?

The paradox to end all paradoxes.
Oh, unless, of course, the entire point of television is to make money by catering programming to groups that will watch your shows and subsequently purchase products advertised on said shows. Which it is. So everyone can shut the ***** up about the mainstream mass media. There is no liberal mass media. There is no conservative mass media. There is only the cash-grabbing mass media. It's about money, and it always has been, and it always will be. - DirtyDiggberal, on 09/17/2009, -0/+4I wonder if she'll have an episode about tax evasion. Oh, right, that would hit a little too close to home:
http://articles.latimes.com/2003/aug/14/local/me-a ... - EatingPie, on 09/17/2009, -1/+5I don't mind political commentary in art even when I don't agree with it, but I hate being banged on the head. Really becomes about agenda rather than producing good quality, artistic shows. Somehow I really think Huffington will simply going for "Democrats good, Republicans evil," and make it very clear in each episode. Really will just be filled with agenda, rather than fun-to-watch, make-you-think kind of art (think Children of Men... obviously not a comedy).
-Pie - EddiePotato, on 09/17/2009, -0/+4Dugg for sparing the caps.

- DavidNiven, on 09/17/2009, -6/+9Well, they certainly know how to do comedy on their website, so...it should be an easy transition. Now, of course, they'll have to compete with other comedy television shows like Olbermann.
- smacksaw, on 09/17/2009, -11/+14I thought they were just get a few cameras and go to a teabagger protest and interview them all day. They'd have enough comedy gold for a 5-year run of an hourlong daily show.
- therightscoop, on 09/17/2009, -7/+10Arianna = douchebag.
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -1/+3She isn't any of those things.
- brainboy7777, on 09/17/2009, -1/+3boo.
- inactive, on 09/17/2009, -0/+2I don't have a problem with Rupert Murdoch producing a ton of comedy or drama shows on FOX TV. I have a slight problem with them controlling most major sports (local teams should be broadcast on local channels), but its a mild annoyance. I don't understand why conservatives should have a problem with Mrs Huffington producing whatever she wants.
But by all means, call the whambulance, protest the production studio and make a big deal out of nothing. - jdames1980, on 09/17/2009, -2/+4This is going to be a giant abortion.
- LastVisibleDog, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Is it called Huffington Post TV
from propagandist to comedy....it could work - TVarmy, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Agreed. The media boils down to profit motive. We saw news about MJ's death for three weeks because, guess what, consumers were legitimately curious, even if they wouldn't admit it. They wouldn't play stuff nobody liked unless they could make money that way.
Likewise, we have Fox News and/or MSNBC not because there's some sinister cabal of wealthy elites that wants to spread biased information. The fact is that they're the niche news stations, aiming for people who definitely swing to one political direction. CNN tries to hit the middle. It's the same reason why Coke and Pepsi don't taste exactly alike, even though they could easily reformulate their tastes to be more like the other. It's not that one taste is better than the other, they're just aiming for different customers with different tastes. - MatlasK, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1The sitcom will be called "Left Wings."
- enantiodromia, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1"stay tuned..."
</stan_smith_voice> - enantiodromia, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1I am pretty sure both sides can agree CNN f'ing sucks. Every time I watch it, I am left with a bad taste in my mouth.
- Atario, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Is it "The C Street Follies"? The story of a wacky secret cult that aims to spread religion by government infiltration?
- TVarmy, on 09/17/2009, -1/+1Maybe she's on staff to be more for coming up with realistic political dialog/situations? Kind of like how crime dramas and medical shows have consultants from those fields to keep the shows somewhat grounded in reality?
- TVarmy, on 09/17/2009, -2/+2No, Fox would get a bailout because they would rally up their viewers to call poor revenue "censorship," and would get people to picket saying the Obama administration was "socialist" for not "lending a hand" to an "honest" "American" "institution."
- spider-man, on 09/17/2009, -0/+0ho hum another TV show I'll make sure to miss.
- unfromcool, on 09/17/2009, -0/+0Because that's what CNN already does. I swear that channel has just become them going on their own damn website and showing it on TV!
- EddiePotato, on 09/17/2009, -1/+1Dude. Don't call chicks that.
- AndrewDB, on 09/17/2009, -2/+2.. hm. That's a good idea. It might put Fox News out of business.
- idbjoshm, on 09/17/2009, -3/+3Intelligent woman, very articulate. Never considered Ms. Huffington funny.
- alazapram, on 09/17/2009, -1/+0Fox the broadcast TV network and Fox News Channel have nothing in common but three letters and Rupert Murdoch.
- turbog20, on 09/17/2009, -6/+5Yo Arianna, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time.
- alazapram, on 09/17/2009, -3/+0Children of Men was terribly boring, and I'm baffled as to why you would bring it up in this context.
Arianna Huffington, if you've ever watched her interviews, is hilarious. Very sharp wit.
It's been a long time since we've had a popular comedy with an overt political agenda (was "All in the Family" the last one?), so I'm looking forward to a revival of the genre. I'm tired of everything having to be "balanced" and "neutral". - DirtyDiggberal, on 09/17/2009, -10/+7Buried for HuffPoo.
- HotSaucePanCake, on 09/17/2009, -6/+2Charles Gibson and HuffaPoo are going to mate, you just watch it. Some sort of crazy ass baby.
