- diggitny, on 02/10/2008, -6/+256Made it on the news. Major win.
Watch Scientologists "handle" an SP (suppressive person) who shows up to their party. "What are your crimes? Murder, perhaps!" Great stuff: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pPol_m8wm8Y - Archcoder, on 02/10/2008, -13/+168I'm in ur news.
Raidin' ur cult. - crypulse, on 02/10/2008, -8/+131I love how they claim that WE are the terrorists.
- shooby, on 02/10/2008, -0/+88Guy Fawkes is the name
- ryanonfire, on 02/10/2008, -0/+83blowing up your Parliament is the game
- TheSmiddy, on 02/10/2008, -0/+79my contribution to the rhyme is lame
- LittleFishChan, on 02/10/2008, -11/+80That was a good idea to wear masks. (The V for Vendetta mask was cool :D)
- ryanonfire, on 02/10/2008, -9/+68Digg this up! Don't let the scifags bury it
- Goobernutz, on 02/10/2008, -2/+49That is the most frightening thing I've seen in a long time! These zombies must be stopped!!
- spudnic, on 02/10/2008, -4/+41Same as any protest, raising public awareness of an issue.
The fact they got on the news shows they did indeed achieve that goal. - shooby, on 02/10/2008, -5/+42Will YOU be at your local Church of Scientology today?
- DuxDucis, on 02/10/2008, -1/+38Yeah that vid was pretty ***** creepy. Shows just how mindless the followers of Scientology can get. Man these guys are like drones, spitting out rehersed lines and questions. Aparently anyone who questions Scientology gets labelled a Child molester or a wifebeater.
- inactive, on 02/10/2008, -0/+35That is actually the Guy Fawkes mask, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes
;) - Tarnum, on 02/10/2008, -15/+47The "V for Vendetta" mask was a nice touch.
- jimmick, on 02/10/2008, -6/+33Xenu help us
- carnag3aus, on 02/10/2008, -2/+26WTF, those guys are morons, Yer he looks like a child molester to me, stupid *****.
- acceleration, on 02/10/2008, -1/+25Channel 7 goes right around Australia, you're not special just because you receive it too.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 02/10/2008, -3/+26Oh my god...it's my own town! Anon you have officially gained my respect, well done everyone! I've walked past this place so many times and wanted to go in there and give them hell. In fact my brother and his friends were banned for sitting in L Ron Hubbard's chair (the one they keep on standby for when he returns).
- bizland2, on 02/10/2008, -3/+25Although this is great, what makes it a Raid, from a protest 0.o
- Berkana, on 02/10/2008, -0/+21Write also to feedback@digg.com and let them know the bury system needs to be reformed. Right now, burried stories aren't even marked as such, whereas they used to be.
And don't give me this nonsense about Scientologists participating in the democratic system of digging and burying. Scientologists can't even browse the web freely; their cult requires that all internet access by members above a basic level be filtered through the CoS approved web filter, which keeps them from seeing any material critical of L. Ron Hubbard, the Church of Scientology, or anything written by known former Scientologists:
The Scientology Net Censor
http://www.shipbrook.com/jeff/CoS/censored.html
Operation Clambake: SCIENTOLOGY CENSOR SOFTWARE CRACKED!
http://www.xenu.net/archive/events/censorship/word ...
Salon.com on the "Scieno Sitter":
http://archive.salon.com/21st/feature/1998/07/15fe ...
Any burying activity regarding Scientology, especially anything so coordinated and systematic, is the action of high level operatives, not digg community members participating in free speech and a democratic process. Such activity is nothing short of an abuse of the system to censor digg of material they don't want others to see. - sleepwalkers, on 02/10/2008, -0/+20Remember, remember the tenth of Febtember.
- zlimness, on 02/10/2008, -4/+23Protesting is for liberal hippies! Anon is a cyber terrorist, therefor it raids. ;)
- ryanonfire, on 02/10/2008, -1/+20They got on television!!! By protesting they only had a chance of telling a couple thousand people about the issue, now because of this video they will reach millions of Australians, not to mention the international audience who watches it on youtube etc.
- ryanonfire, on 02/10/2008, -1/+20They got on television!!!
- spudnic, on 02/10/2008, -1/+17Everyone on Digg might, but you're average Joe on the street probably doesn't. More people know, more people help.
Get enough people on side and you have a real chance of changing things like the tax exempt status.
On top of that if more people who know what Scientology gets up to less likely it is more people will join, people might leave, etc.
No one thinks Scientology is just going to disband because a few hundred people turn up to protest them. - chthonicdark, on 02/10/2008, -12/+28Giant Spaghetti Monster FTW
- DaveMutty, on 02/10/2008, -3/+19For more photos of adelaide go here
http://flickr.com/photos/23632728@N03/sets/7215760 ... - acceleration, on 02/10/2008, -1/+16Small town?? Adelaide is the 5th largest city in Australia with a population of over 1.1 million, how can you call it a "small town"?
- iknowhtml, on 02/10/2008, -1/+15Yep, those do appear to be apart of Digg's rules. Now, if you care to demonstrate how these specific Terms of Use you have pointed out have ANYTHING AT ALL to do with this NEWS REPORT, I would be glad to hear it.
Or are you just trying to keep all us SPs silent? - mechagazoo15, on 02/10/2008, -2/+15Group of cyber-terrorists made up of religious bigots? epic lulz for anon.
- murphy11211, on 02/10/2008, -0/+13Great stuff something actually happened. I'm looking forward to tomorrow (Australia is a day ahead of America) to see what the American masses will pull off. I'm assuming, and praying, it will be a lot bigger and wide spread.
Do us proud America! - ace1220, on 02/10/2008, -2/+14REVEAL YOUR SECRET!
- Frost9999, on 02/10/2008, -4/+16Some positive exposure was achieved. People that know nothing about Scientology will now stop and think about it.. "is it a cult?" "why are people upset with scientology?" etc. I remember when I worked across the road from the scientology building in Auckland I would often wonder what their 'church' was all about but I never bothered to look them up and just assumed it was yet another branch of christianity.
- cuntmate99, on 02/10/2008, -3/+14it may not look like it's much but at least it's getting covered. any press is good press
- Murdats, on 02/10/2008, -0/+11well its night now, and I am still working, so no.
- sl9sl9, on 02/10/2008, -2/+13LIVE FEED video from the London, UK raid! http://www.qik.com/video/18515
- spyrochaete, on 02/10/2008, -0/+11The only way to win is by playing by the rules. That's why Scientology abuses copyrights and the legal system, and that's the battlefield its opponents will have to take as well.
- nshady, on 02/10/2008, -1/+12The last place I expected to see a sizeable turnout was in my town of Adelaide.
Awesome. - spyrochaete, on 02/10/2008, -0/+11If you go to one of these events without a mask you WILL be photographed, identified, and possibly followed. Lots of stories of this on the Chanology wiki.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 02/10/2008, -2/+13Why is everyone digging this guy up for saying this is his local news when he's clearly not even Australian, and posting the wrong name of the anchor? It's Graeme Goodings, not Stan Stevenson, see:
http://www.seven.com.au/news/profile_040131_graeme ... - Haecceity, on 02/10/2008, -0/+11Yay for "cyber-terrorism groups of religious bigots."
- AJRiddle, on 02/10/2008, -0/+10FLYING! ITS THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER! MAY HIS NOODLY APPENDAGE STRIKE YOU DOWN FOR YOUR BLASPHEMY!
- lcarsdeveloper, on 02/10/2008, -0/+101) If you did your research, you would see the Adelaide protest was NOT illegal or unlawful. They paid $280 for a permit and were escorted by the SA police.
7) The link is to a Youtube video, not a blog or affiliate scheme, and this is an original post. It was a television clip, therefore the category is correct.
10) This video does not advertise anything, it's a news story.
You fail, troll. - CSharpSauce, on 02/10/2008, -2/+12I prefer to just digg stories. Its by far easier then standing in -10 degree weather.
- ZenMojo, on 02/10/2008, -0/+9The white masks and suits were a great image. From now on, everyone at the raid wears a suit!
- Archcoder, on 02/10/2008, -0/+9Spider expert convention and pajama party are also acceptable terms.
- tikiman453, on 02/10/2008, -1/+10>to honeymustardn: how are we supposed to end scientology if we don't tell people about it? and everybody does not know about this. i'll bet half the country doesn't even know what scientology is. digg is a very small percentage of people in the world. it's going to take some time and if you aren't committed enough to try and take it down then ignore the posts. this isn't a "make the people who think they're being trendy and unique happy" site. this is a news site, where the members vote to make the most popular stories on it. so obviously people care about this enough to make it front page stuff. it's time you pull your head out of your ass and come to terms with that.
- al13n, on 02/10/2008, -0/+9No, there aren't any scientology churches in my country.
- echofactor, on 02/10/2008, -1/+10Was proud to say that it was a successful protest. We spread enough public awareness and even made the regional news.
And 90% of all cars that passed the honking stations obliged. - Azarken, on 02/10/2008, -0/+8l2 4chan noob
