- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+69i love that networks are FINALLY catching on.
- GregR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33It would be nice if this worked in Canada!
- JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32That's awesome, but I prefer my HD rips :)
- Sandwiches_Time, on 10/12/2007, -12/+35Sweet, breaking the law is awesome.
- alexonix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24I agree, except for the Japanese people part, Hiro makes the show worth watching!
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21"Wheres Episode 1?? Thats the only one i missed!"
You didn't miss much. It was all politics, the introduction of a dodgy CGI character, and an annoying little kid going "Yippee" when he flew the spaceships. - JC-Sharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Dugg the story because NBC seems to be really getting it. People want this content, and I think other networks are catching on. I saw TBS advertising some show saying "if you missed it, watch the full episode online." Digital media is the new wave and you can still make money off of it. I have no problem watching content online for free if it means watching a 15-30 second ad. Much Music in Canada has really got a good thing going on with their site, you can watch music videos, interviews etc, the quality is actually really good, and all you have to see is a 15 second ad every 5 videos you watch.
It's nice to see a change finally. - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14"Sweet, breaking the law is awesome."
If he's just saving copies of the shows from a cable/satellite service he pays for, then what he's doing is no more illegal than what a VCR or Tivo does. - nibr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15In Canada, I get:
"We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location"
Only for U.S. viewers I guess.. - mohamedmansour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Too bad its only available in USA. Not available in Canada or any other country. And proxies are too slow :/
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I remember hearing something about this a while ago (for other shows). I also remember it not being available outside the US.
"We're sorry, but the clip you selected isn't available from your location."
*sigh*, eh?
EDIT: wow, seems I'm not alone in Canada. - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@Stonedonkey:
source > find ".swf" > put in address bar
Or just click the full screen button in the lower left corner of the movie. That's how the real browser ninjas do it. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Despite the similarities in premise, The 4400 and Heroes are vastly different thematically. Personally I like both shows, but honestly I like Heroes better, most likely because of the Network TV budget making things seem a little less cheesy and the writing is more compelling. However come on guys, why does everything need to be this vs that. So we have 2 super hero shows on right now. How many cop/doctor/lawyer dramas are on TV right now?
- teddyrux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11First Gmail registration and now this...Being a Canadian has never been so Internet-unfriendly.
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yeah it seemed like they we're going to do this at first because of the success of DVDs, but they've finally figured out that people who are going to buy the DVDs are going to buy them regardless or are not going to watch the show on TV and jsut watch the DVD,
and those that aren't going to buy the shows won't pony up $30 bucks just because they missed an episode or two. - somnus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I find that really lame. Showtime does it, too and I really don't get it. I'm still viewing the advertising on the site if I got in!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Having all the episodes in 1080i is better than watching them in a small box over the internet.
- JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15And horrible acting...and has gotten progressively worse over time...and has horrible production value in comparison to Heroes...and has less likable characters, etc.
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"I really need to find that sword..."
Hiro FTW! - GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I am completely and utterly addicted to this show now.
- Dayz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Wheres Episode 1?? Thats the only one i missed!
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@EbowUK
heh, took me a minute to get that :-) - Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This is quite annoying. We pay for NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, FOX, the CW and many more American networks, yet we are still treated like we don't matter.
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Same in Sweden, not surprisingly.
I'll just download the torrents instead, as per usual :) - flyingspatula, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10"We're Sorry, but the clip isn't available from your location".....
Something screwy is going on. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Because whoever bought the rights to Heroes in the UK doesn't want their thunder and ratings stolen by people watching it online before they show it? Come on, this is common sense stuff.
- JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15Oh no, i'm such a bad guy for downloading HD rips. I'm sorry that I get the HD signal and would like to keep a copy on my HDD also. Why do something like that when I can go online to crowded servers and watch a low quality version of it.
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Can't watch outside US + Show not airing in my country = http://thepiratebay.org/tv/417/S01/
- Jrr6415sun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6it's called advertising.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7its ok, just head over to dailymotion.com to watch em all
http://www.yourtvlinks.com/the-office.html - Chicken2nite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well, if he watches the episode on that cable service and then downloads them instead of taping it, then you have an argument, kinda. It's still not as legal as using a VCR, as the VCR has been brought to court and has been ruled fair use.
The only way that the networks can compete with piracy is to compete on features, where it's free and on demand. With this site they seem to have a leg up on torrent rips in that you don't have to wait for 4-8 hours for it to download and can watch it right away. This is the sort of thing I wish would be included in something like the iTV, where you could access various sites where they would stream you video with embedded ads which you could watch on the telly. That to me would be the future, and once the tubes get wider then they'll be streaming 540p or 720p or something like that.
Of course, that would in theory cut out the cable companies, so I figure they might get a piece of the action by carrying the content locally to their customers, allowing NBC and the rest to save on bandwidth as the cable companies would only need to send the bits from localized servers instead of across the country. And so everybody would win. - pardonator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7That sucks, why exactly is it US only? UK here :(
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Nice!
- alcimedes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's really intelligent and forward thinking on NBC's part. I know they're getting their asses handed to them in the ratings, might be enough of an incentive for them to try something new.
- DannyPage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I just downloaded them all.. and now they do this?? *sigh*
- eddie72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4God, I hate Sylar that Douche.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ass, I hadn't watched it yet
- lcmatt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That sucks im not allowed to watch them as im the UK, oh well back to torrents then.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Dailymotion.com for canada kids, all episodes except for 11 (unless it's been upped since the last time I checked)
- MyDocuments, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4did anyone else think episode 11 was ***** badass?
- flyingspatula, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That's an inconsiderate spoiler for those that haven't seen that episode yet.
- blobzorz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You already froze yourself for the wii, back off the freezing for a bit
- swimmingbird67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3do they have that for the office?
- SpaceDigger8998, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seems that they're all there other than the all important episode 1. I'd like to watch this but I hate jumping in after the first episode. Oh well, at least it says coming soon.
- zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I might not have torrented all the episodes if I knew they were going to do this....Nah who am I kidding. Doesn't matter now, anyway since I'm hooked and have started watching them at airtime.
- LethalGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well this certianly explains why I got a C&D email from NBC through Cox cable for downloading episode 104. This was on a public tracker I used cause I couldn't find it on demoniod at the time. I bluffed my way out with unsecure wireless router. Still, now I see why they were watching such an old torrent.
- Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The last two episodes really did step up the action in the show, but I hated 11 cause their making me wait so long for 12. :(
- Zadkiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i cant view them either...oh canada.
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2w00t, and this comes after I missed last nights due to my mythbox being set 12hrs ahead :P
