- adr4, on 01/31/2008, -12/+103I love lost, I've seen every episode, but it makes no f@#$ing sense. The only reason I still watch is I figure if I've come this far I might as well see it through till the end.
- piratebr0adcast, on 01/31/2008, -1/+78All I know is that I would totally bang the blonde fertility doctor chick. I am not even joking around.
- Hangly, on 01/31/2008, -9/+794 Questions J.R.R. Tolkien MUST ANSWER RIGHT NOW but probably won't because he despises his fans.
1) Just who the hell is Radigast the Brown? They mentioned him once and never explained how he relates to the story. I'm losing sleep over this.
2) If Tom Bombadil so badass, and why doesn't he help during the final battle? I need this resolved immediately.
3) According to AD&D 2nd edition, magic users are not permitted to use swords so why is Gandalf permitted to use Glamdring?
4) "Lufier" is not an anglo-saxon word, bonehead, it's French. The correct anglicization is "luffer." You sure screwed up there, Tolkien. You *****. - inactive, on 01/31/2008, -7/+55Man, everyone need to chill and just enjoy the show. I wonder if they had DIGG when Gilligan's Island was on TV, if people would be complaining about where the Howells get all their clothes since they were only supposed to be on a three-hour tour. Hey, where DID they get all those clothes?
- senorcool, on 01/31/2008, -7/+54#3 about Libby: Libby and the other girl Michael shot were arrested in Hawaii for DUIs. I thought thats why they both got killed off so abruptly.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -1/+40Did anyone else think Michelle Rodriguez played the exact same character she's been in every thing she's ever been in?
- lordtyros, on 01/31/2008, -10/+48I ***** love LOST

- trogdor282, on 01/31/2008, -0/+24Also every other chick on lost.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -10/+34True fans of the show realize that the writers are telling a story, and the know what they are doing. That is why they have stated and end date for the show. If you don't like it then don't watch, but those who can stick with it and appreciate that it is pretty amazing are in for the whole ride and loving it. So ***** anyone who only catches a few episodes here and there, b/c you can't watch it like that. So go ahead and bury me, but if you actually watched the show, I think most people would appreciate it...
- Gaulven, on 01/31/2008, -3/+27Heh, the URL is "http://www.cracked.com/article_15838_six-musicians ..."
Guess we know what article they used as a template! - novakane, on 01/31/2008, -2/+25In fact the title of the episode they were killed in was called 'one for the road.' I laughed cause it seemed like such an obvious stab at them. =)

- samfishercell, on 01/31/2008, -0/+13I love how people pop on here to say they've watched 1 (or 2, or 3) season(s) and now "hate the show" because they aren't "getting any answers" and "they're done".
Think of how ridiculous this show would be if they gave you even some of the answers up front. If you watched the first four episodes, and there's some guy in a bunker pushing a button, and people are getting killed off by black smoke, most people would drop this show and run to the fluffy embrace of American Idol.
As far as pacing, the writers have had a clear plan of where they're going since the beginning. The problem is, with the way American TV works, the Lost team couldn't waltz in and declare that they had a show that would last 3 seasons and then be done with it. I'm thrilled that abc is giving them the chance to actually end the show, and I do expect this to more than positively impact the show as a whole. Now that the team has a fixed endpoint in place, there won't be anymore filler episodes. Even the writers/producers have acknowledged this problem and have claimed we won't have anymore episodes of people "sitting on the beach and watching the waves". Up until this point it had to try and balance the mysteries/answers as best they could since they didn't know how long the show would go for.
Beyond that, I'm constantly amazed at how some people either miss answers completely, don't bother looking into the hidden nuances of the show, or simply appear to not be intelligent enough to think for themselves. Lostpedia.com is a great reference for those who don't care to look into the ARGs, jigsaw puzzles, novels, etc. that some of us enjoy using to add to our understanding.
I don't claim to have all the answers by any means, but I do try to watch with more intent than finding out who Kate will kiss next and expecting my answers to be delivered to me on a silver spoon. Lost has been a great, original, enjoyable ride thus far, and I'm sticking with it till the end. - darksyns, on 01/31/2008, -1/+14I dugg you up man you speak the truth. I'm so tired of people still bashing the show...even though they either haven't seen past season 1 or part of season 2.
- phronko, on 01/31/2008, -2/+15Plus the zombie season.
- crussell96, on 01/31/2008, -3/+15no genius, the fact was that the title was called "Two for the Road".
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -2/+14The giant four toed statue is obviously Homer Simpson's from the Odyssey episode.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -3/+158.6.7.5.3.0.9
- Hangly, on 01/31/2008, -13/+25Lost is fun precisely BECAUSE so much is mysterious about it. The story is becoming less and less interesting because they're explaining way too much.
If you want excruciating detail you can go all aspergers-spectrum on, there's always Star Trek. This isn't that kind of story. - deweather, on 01/31/2008, -3/+14 I love LOST. It's been on the air for 3 seasons, of course they aren't gonna answer the big questions. (i.e. monster, what the island is, statue, etc...) They have answered other questions, like the where the polar bears came from, what happens if they don't push the button, is there an outside world, etc...
The writers have an end date and I have all the faith in the world that they know exactly what they are doing. I'm pretty sure most people will hate on the end of the show no matter what (much they way they do the show itself). I'm enjoying the ride and give credit to the writers and abc in allowing such an ambitious show to exist.
To all the people that are saying "LOST SUCKS, har har" Please give examples of shows you DO like. It's a pet peeve of mine. I think it would help gauge how seriously to take your opinion.(ex. If you say I love Heroes: season 2... I know to ignore your opinion.) - Mossman85, on 01/31/2008, -5/+15lostpedia.com has a lot of great info on that list. The numbers were explained in the Lost Experience alternate reality game in 2006. In the official Lost podcast, the writers said the statute is an end game mystery (so is the smoke monster)
- dunnylovehun, on 01/31/2008, -13/+23That's the genius of this damn show, the totally insane theory presented by newman above, and all the other retarded theories they present in this article got me thinking, 'wait could that be it? I better start watching.' I actually think they have some big reveal at the end that's going to explain most of it. But the article's right, nothing can explain ALL of it without something along the lines of: IT'S MAGIC, FOLKS!
- DivisibleByZero, on 01/31/2008, -3/+12Shows that start out with an objective or mystery can only go one of three ways:
1) They solve the mystery in one or two seasons, the show goes off the air. I figure this is how most of the shows are planned, but once it becomes popular, they need to keep it on the air so the dollars keep rolling in, so this rarely happens.
2) They solve the one problem, then introduce a new one. Problem with this is it only gets another season out of you. Notice how seasons 1 and 2 of Prison Break were good, but three sucks. They HAD to break out of prison in season 1. And instead of ending the show with them breaking out, they made the tolerable decision to spend another season on the run/exonerating themselves. But where do you go from there? If you said "back to prison...but in Panama this time", then I'm glad you and the other writers are on strike. You're an idiot anyhow.
3) They keep the mystery going until it gets old (and advertising revenue dries up), and they cancel the show...often without even resolving anything. Star Trek: Voyager is a good topic of discussion here. They canceled it without resolving the story, but a bunch of trekkies talked them into going back and filming a last few episodes. Tied up the storyline, but I would have much preferred it if they had all ended up dead out in the Delta Quadrant. Seeing "Admiral" Janeway bossing Picard around in Star Trek X was just wrong. My theory is that they just gave her a promotion for the publicity and to bury a simultaneous sexual harassment scandal between Barclay and Troi. - akohut, on 01/31/2008, -5/+14The writers have said they have an ending for the series planned. I forgot the magazine (maybe "Entertainment Weekly," but I'm not sure). They said it wasn't the whole "purgatory" thing, and knocked off several other theories as well. I wish I knew where it was printed; it was a really interesting article.
- 2000, on 01/31/2008, -1/+9I don't know... the link I see on the site is: http://www.cracked.com/article_15838_5-questions-l ...
Although anything can be substituted after the article ID like this: http://www.cracked.com/article_15838_10-reasons-di ... - DrMonkeyLove, on 01/31/2008, -6/+14I've stopped watching because I'm not convinced that the writers can come to a coherent conclusion based on everything that has happened, and I just don't feel like being disappointed. If the ending is reasonable, then I'll go back and watch it from the start.
- dickgrayson, on 01/31/2008, -2/+10i TOTALLY thought you were joking around.
- insane11, on 01/31/2008, -0/+8Actually, I think I remember some podcast explaining how Michelle Rodriguez agreed with the writers to just play a role in season two and agreed to leave the show sometime during that season.
- bxblox, on 01/31/2008, -10/+17Lost is a trap. If you didn't get into to when it started consider yourself lucky. Most of us have accepted that there simply aren't any cohesive answers to the questions we have. The writers are just making it up as they go along...
- tyywebb, on 01/31/2008, -2/+9Those have all been refuted by the writers.
- metapop, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7digg me down if you like- here's my theory. i'm surprised there aren't more people posting theories, it's all "wtf is up with the black smoke!!1!!1".
the title "lost" refers to much more than just oceanic 815, it refers to a lost civilization. the 4 toed statue is probably the main evidence for this. this civilization utilized the special features of the island (electromagnetism as evidenced by the hatch, fountain of life or something like it as evidenced by locke's paralysis not being a factor on the island) yet ultimately was its downfall due to this island's particular benefits- undoubtedly it was discovered and fought over by different groups hundreds or thousands of years ago, which is why the 4 toed statue is destroyed... it's also why linus is protecting it so fervently. in the same way that desmond was "saving the world" by pressing the button, linus is "saving the world" by keeping the island a secret... it's an interesting parallel. now that the (obviously) bad people have found the island, we'll learn more about what the island's secrets/history is- in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if almost the entire 4th season is prequels to what has happened historically up to this point, and we only get to see what the people on the boat are really like until the finale. whether i'm right or wrong, it's going to be a great season, i have no doubt about it. - tyywebb, on 01/31/2008, -0/+7You've got to have faith, brothah!
- timusca, on 01/31/2008, -3/+10That's true for Michelle Rodriguez, but Libby was written to be killed since the beginning. The writers said so in a podcast...
- Gonz037, on 01/31/2008, -6/+13taste like a crab talks like people
- smithil, on 01/31/2008, -2/+9That question has been answered many times. 2010.
- fatdog789, on 01/31/2008, -0/+6Voyager had a full run. Are you sure you're not thinking of *Enterprise*, which was canceled, and then brought back for a final few episodes?
- kymike, on 01/31/2008, -6/+12Seriously. I will watch Lost to the end, just to see what happens, but there is no doubt in my mind that the writers are flying by the seat of their pants - especially in season 1 and season 2 (I think they started to realize the corner they had painted themselves in and tried to correct it a little bit in season 3.) I don't care what the writers/producers say: They had no idea where this story was going in season 1 and season 2.
It's just like what JJ Abrams did with Alias: Every season, it was like a whole new show (and not in a good way.) It's as if he gets bored and then wants to change things. Alias was really interesting in the beginning, but completely ruined by the end. Lost is doing a little better than Alias, but I agree with every point in the above article. The whole thing with Walt (who showed signs of supernatural powers, possibly causing the death of his mother in the beginning) and Aaron (remember, really bad stuff was supposed to happen if Claire didn't raise him herself) just seems to have been abandoned. And I agree that the whole story of the numbers will likely never be answered. - Hangly, on 01/31/2008, -2/+8Is everyone here autistic? I thought it was obvious I was being sarcastic. The Lord of the Rings is an awesome book. Just enjoy the story and don't analyze it as if it were Fermat's Last Theorem.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -3/+9Lynus Green is people!
- Hangly, on 01/31/2008, -2/+8Whoops, I timed out.
Leaving questions unanswered is a technique of good writing, especially fantasy writing. By leaving ends loose and having events and characters move *through* the story (as opposed to being contained entirely inside it) gives the story-universe a sense of scale. For the world to be convincing it needs to be bigger than the story that takes place inside it.
Tolkien used this to very good effect. The "loose ends" I listed were deliberate. I'm sure the "unanswered questions" in Lost are deliberate as well.
Think about it. An episode recounting backstory on the 4-toed statue would be about the lamest thing ever. Do you really want to know that badly, or would you like it to remain a creepy-weird mystery? - insane11, on 01/31/2008, -1/+6Prison Break is an still a good show, but I agree that the first two seasons were better. As for LOST, it's still fantastic. With an end date set for the series, the writers, assuming they ever get off strike, can hopefully balance the show out adding more mystery but answering plenty of questions at the same time. Hopefully they answer all the questions we have by the end of the series, otherwise I'll be pretty disappointed.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -6/+11That's just a dumb thing to say. It is not a show like According to Jim, where you can come in and figure out the story. It isn't a standard serial drama either, b/c so many complicated things are going on. I'm positive there were many more dissapointin shows on tv. Guess what, I watched all 3 seasons and I know what the black smoke is and it is an awesome story that is being weaved by the writers. People like you who see something they don't understand and turn it off, won't appreciate it. And that makes it all the better to those of us who do appreciate it. So thanks for being closed minded, and I hope you keep not watching!
- Goldbricker, on 01/31/2008, -3/+8What a ***** article. Their number one question that they want answered is easily answered with a simple web search. http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Numbers It's an equation for predicting the end of the world and the Dharma Initiative was set up to try to change the equation. Well researched article ***** Cracked.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -6/+11The writers don't care about making you happy.. They know what story they are trying to tell, and they know how to do it well.. If you don't have the patience to stick with it, then that is your loss I'm sure..
