- WUThad, on 10/12/2007, -5/+57The 24 writers took the week off so the writers of LOST took over for them last night.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -1/+32Am I the only one who found it hilarious when fayed shot that guy and randomly shouted "I hope your friend is dead!" a minute later? It was so out of character it was funny
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -6/+29Fayed: I hope your friend died
- Danners, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Also reminds me of the Sealab 2021 episode entitled "Bizarro"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSp0Au2THIc
Take him away for interrogation, bizarro style! - quantumHobbit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Me too, I think South Park ruined 24 for me. But it was a great episode by the way.
I cross checked his MySpace with Youtube. - kevin_qnn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14i was laughing out loud at the end of the episode. don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing
- blobzorz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12He said Vice President Boothe? I thought it was Daniels.
- SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Gradenko knew he couldn't escape CTU. So he had to go along with the plan. He thought he could get away with Fiad. When he got into the bar, he said something like "We're trapped" to himself. This was when he realized his best chance of escape was to turn everyone on Fiad and then run during the commotion, hoping CTU would be busy with Fiad.
It kinda worked, but it was desperate. Unless he had treated his arm quickly with a tourniquet, he didn't have long.
And he also knew that there was no way the amnesty and everything would work out. - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14I think you mean BIZARRO SPOLIERS
- iricund, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9We should probably warn SPOLIERS beyond link.
- zerotothe5th, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This was the best episode so far in my opinion. I was very very disappointed with the ending though. It was unrealistically stupid how Wayne is all for the strike now.
I had been worried that the show was just going all action and no plot, and it was for a few episodes, but now it's getting much better. It was a well written episode.
The scenes from next episode looks really intense too!! Looking forward to it. - yalphi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Jack can't die. He already has a contract through Season 8. Which means its already known he wont die next week, so why lead us on like that in the preview for next week's episode. Also, surprisingly, Chloe wasn't even in last nights episode!
- econoar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I actually think it's the opposite.
but, that's just me... - ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Neo-con agenda? So Doyle is cast in a negative light until he overcomes his prejudiced views against muslims, starting wars is portrayed as a last resort unless you're evil or crazy, and racial profiling is displayed as evil and ineffective... and yet it's neo-con? If anything, it's progressive -- though I'd say it takes a moderate stance most of the time.
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6He has nicknames for many of the characters. That's one of them (based on the actor's name, which, in case you didn't know, is Powers Boothe).
- mannbearpigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think Palmer's bluffing to get the ambassador to take action
- kevin_qnn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@variant
>i'm gonna take a guess and say you found the end of the departed funny too.
not at all. it was just such a random plot twist. it was like palmer turned into the incredible hulk at the end there. and some of the dialogue was laughable too "the ends justify the means" "i hope your friend is dead" - bytor4232, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I thought they really turned it around last night. I was getting board with this season, but now, I'm hooked.
- mannbearpigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Jack Bauer is a beast
- skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"The 24 writers took the week off so the writers of LOST took over for them last night."
I hope the writers of Heroes does it next. Then Jack Bauer can just read Fayed's mind thus saving 15 minutes of the show for shooting and big explosives! - variant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7i'm gonna take a guess and say you found the end of the departed funny too.
- crazybrit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Best way to find out would be to start watching it.
- maf54, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4thank you for the warning. I can't even watch the next episode's preview.
- KeerGondeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3President doing a 360 huh. Wouldn't that take him back to where he began?
I think you mean '180'.
PS: http://www.d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/ -- for some help on your last sentence. - skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WTF is that supposed to mean? Seriously.
- SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+524 is neither. It's completely what you interpret from it.
- Jonty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe we didn't have any harmless/armless puns.
- Eddm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If only this was aired on Sunday rather than Monday, it could have been passed for an april fools. Some crazy ***** went down.
- romeyinfc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What and get rid of the 15 minute of Jack torturing someone? Save the mind-reading, the torture is just as great as the explosions and action.
- PaulLev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I thought the episode was superb - one of the most chock full of twists in the history of the series ... http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2007/04/24-season-6-hr-16-palmer-and-daniels.html
- SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2AFAIK, it was still a nuke.
- mannbearpigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did anyone else call Gredenko's severed arm as soon as they told him about it?
- Eddm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, skyfire, noone tried to call his arm up on the phone.
Yes I saw it coming too. It was pretty predictable. - CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm with you 100% on that. I got the feeling from seeing the preview for next week.
- nithins, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5why is jack bauer gettting lesser screen time as the season progresses???? It makes no frikkin sense!!!
Its almost always the case that 24's side stories are completely hackneyed and pointless. One exception was President Logan and Martha from season 5.
However, we all watch 24 primarily to watch Jack kick some terrorist ass! I've pretty much had it with the side stories this time around - the milo-nadia 90210 story, the pointless bauer family affair, the even more pointless walid-sandra story! I really hope that the writers really put something good together for the final third of the season.
If not for Jack...24 is one of the most boring shows on TV right now.
8 months ago after the season 5 finale - i said 24 is the best show on televsion right now. Can't believe how badly the quality has dropped..... - iricund, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10It was utterly bewildering. Body parts, nuclear weapons, random injections, covering up, and smatterings of the neo-con agenda poking through. Far too odd for my liking. I like my plot twists to be twists, not completely random.
- SultanTravi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Really? I liked this episode, as did the author of the article. I thought it was great and different.
Plus, I got to rub it in everyone's face that I was right all along--Throughout the season I always vouched for Doyle when everyone else was mad at him.
And just for kicks, a little fun video about a bizarro day at the office.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FiFKS62wQAA - scuvball, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4We should boycott. Palmer was grandstanding with the nukes? no thanks
- yalphi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think an RFID would have worked. The idea behind the radioisotope, was so that he couldn't digg it out. If my understanding is correct, RFIDs are typically placed in the skin, and therefore probably easily removable. The radioisotope technology does not seem to exist, or least not to the extent in can be detected for up to 50 miles. This technology is being worked on, though. I suspect the writers do some technical research for the show.
- myxyplik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was wondering the same thing. Maybe now that Mr. Kiefer has a producing gig, he has to spend less time being Jack. I'm not sure which season is worse now: overrated season 5 for being too damned outrageous, or this season for being too damned meh.
- CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no digg down, I agree...apart from the meds swapping theory...
you can't please all the people all the time though. I've never seen an episode of 24 I didn't like. - SteamyV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Jonty: Mostly Armless?
- NeoRicen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone hasn't been watching me, so far this season appears to me to have deliberately gone out of its way to be anti-war etc. I'm a liberal so the conservative angle the show usually took irked me slightly but this radical turn this season seems a little silly.
- AMERICANcitizen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2you guys are insane.
24 is great. each season gets better, this season is no exception.
and i think palmer is either being blackmailed, or his meds were swapped out out with steroids or something (and now he's got roid rage)
and about next week.....isnt jack wearing a bulletproof vest?? he usually has one in the field.
please...digg down - i like 24. - Travisx2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did Wayne Change the Target or the payload!?!!!?!?!?!
Either target Training camps or some symbolic target,
or
Just normal cruise missile..
- ringo380, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't know what you see as different about that dialogue. 24 has always had over-the-top good vs. bad one-liners. The good guys practically have halos around their heads, and the bad guys are downright evil. There's not much in between. Sure, the good guys do some hardcore things, but they always end up in the right.
I love it, definitely, but there's nothing new about it, and not in a bad way. I've come to expect great contrasts like that in 24. When I want ambiguous, middle-of-the-road characters, I watch Battlestar Galactica. Both styles are equally great. - yalphi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kiefer has stated that at some point Jack will die. The reason they can get away with this according to him is that the 24 hr time format is the star of the show. If you think about it, every season has 24 episodes, and if you think back to last season it got to a point where so much had to be resolved in lessening time. I doubt we've even seen anything close to the climax and within the next 5 hours the plot is only going to be more insane.
Back to Jack, I think they are slowly adjusting us to the idea that Jack is not the main character and that each character is of equal importance. Jack and Chloe are the only two left that have been around for a significant amount of time. That being said, she's probably going to die late this season or early next season.
I think the end all goal is that they're banking on 24 being famous for 24, because no other show has such a predictable format worked into its plot constraints. We always know that whatever crisis arises, it will somehow be taken care of in 24 hrs. - CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2dugg up for sealab reference!
- hmemcpy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Did anyone else find it ironic that Boris "The Blade" had his arm chopped off?
- yalphi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kymike
Really, the issues are what everyone is talking about in these comments. They have to find a way to retain viewers. They understand that they have to go beyond where they went the previous season, as well as stop using the same nationality of terrorists or type of "bad guy" each season. Last season you had "bad guys" in the white house as well as killing off main characters. In fact the writers have a lot flexibility with killing main characters right now, as they feel it's something that makes the show different than any other show. I really do think there's something that's gonna blow us away soon, and you never know, it could all start with this missile attack. I believe Kiefer has some say in Jack Bauer's future. But basically whenever they feel it's time for Jack Bauer to die, as far as retaining viewers, he's going to die. Kiefer loves the role, but says that if it starts to get old with viewers, then that might be the time to go. Right now, it definitely wouldn't make sense. -
