- JSager, on 05/02/2008, -1/+13And long live Carrey the dramatic actor. He was brilliant in Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and even, yes I'm going to say it, The Majestic.
- Llanowar, on 05/02/2008, -0/+7I loved Newsradio. One of the best comedies ever.
- Super6, on 05/02/2008, -2/+8What about Bob Sagot? I dont' know how anyone has the restraint to go from his regular stand-up routine (which is hilarious) to the serious family man of "Mr. Tanner"
- jbenson2, on 05/02/2008, -1/+6Rosie O'Donnell? She's neither a comedian nor an actress.
- xt0xicx, on 05/02/2008, -2/+7Wow wheres Tom Hanks? He went from Big and Sleepless in Seattle to Philadelphia, Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and Cast Away
- VeniceCA, on 05/02/2008, -4/+8Will Smith (I am Legend) & Adam Sandler (Reign Over Me, Spanglish)
- inactive, on 05/02/2008, -0/+4I think House is hilarious.
- 2468ben, on 05/02/2008, -0/+3He's on the list.
- 2468ben, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3Dramatic *Television* roles.
- ninjasenses, on 05/02/2008, -1/+3lame
- killbert24, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2They forgot William Shatner.
- bigpeeler, on 05/02/2008, -2/+4Anthony Anderson? I thought this article was about actors.
- DNABeast, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2I always thought Cast-away was such a great sequel to 'Joe vs. the Volcano'.
- kingcam, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2I cant decide if this applies to him; I am inclined to think that he went the other way... although watching old Star Trek makes me wonder if not Kirk was intended to be the comic relief.
- Gizza, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2I've only just started watching A Bit of Fry and Laurie. Its freak'n hilarious. It's hard to believe that the guy on that show is House.
- dudefaceguyman, on 05/02/2008, -0/+2Mark-Paul Gosselaar pretty much jumped from two polar opposite comedy/drama type of roles. From Zach Morris on Saved by the Bell to detective John Clark on NYPD Blue.
- 2468ben, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Dramatic *television* roles.
- kmiller2087, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1how about thomas gibson? went from will and grace for years and years, a comedy (a terrible one but still), took a complete 180 and now stars in Criminal Minds.
- kingcam, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1What happened to Pierce brosnan, I always thought that Remington Steel was a comedy.... Christ, if that was the quality of detective fiction in the early 80s then no wonder the genre is pretty much dead.
- veganvelma, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Robin Williams was incredible in the SVU episode he did recently. It was very One Hour Photoish. His comedy movies are nothing like they used to be.
I agree that the majority of this list is crap. - Username918719, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Robin Williams was first a Juilliard grad who turned comedian... He was also only 1 of 2 people selected in his entire freshman class for the advanced program. (The other was Christopher Reeves)
- RajDhillon, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2Yeah it asks for television, but as long as were on movies, Adam Sandler was also in Punch Drunk Love, which was a ridiculously dramatic role... if that makes sense.
- schrutefan, on 05/02/2008, -1/+217?! 5 or 10 or you get buried.
- VBDon, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1How 'bout including Buster Keaton, Lou Costello, and Jackie Gleason. Comedy has always been harder than drama. That's why most comedians can become dramatic actors but few dramatic actors can become successful comedians.
- snea, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Goddamn. How could they forget Cheech?
- newbill123, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1While Tom Hanks may want you to forget his television career, he still should be on the list.
He did Bosom Buddies and bit parts on shows like Happy Days before moving out of the sitcom world and into forgetable drama like Mazes and Monsters. Yeah, - bigpeeler, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Guess not.
- gr3i, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Not sure why you got dugg down for that. He was pretty good on Full Frontal... not the greatest show of all time but most of his sketches were pretty good.
- chinolofus, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1ediie izzard is brilliant on the riches. that show is one of the best on tv right now.
- chinolofus, on 05/02/2008, -1/+2hes useually really good in dramas and thrillers. comedies...not so much.
- veganvelma, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Hugh Laurie is fantastic.
Oddly enough, I've got House on right now. - newbill123, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1While they seemed to overlook most of the people involved with the Mary Tyler Moore sitcoms (Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, Gavin MacLeod, Valerie Harper, and Betty White among others) who all went to take on dramatic roles, they really overlooked the man whose voice practically defined drama for a generation... Ted Knight.
From after school specials to saturday morning cartoons, when you heard that man's dulcet baritone you knew that the ghost was about to make his first bowel-churning appearance to Shag and Scoob but no one would believe them. Or that the bad guys were just about to put Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in tight, kinky S&M restraints where they would laughingly explain their plans in detail yet the Super Friends would be powerless to react.
Just because the guy would talk about Scooby Snaks or Aquaman saving the day doesn't mean that his dramatic roles were anything less than genre defining to millions of viewers!
And, oh yeah, he did some adult drama as well. - tapeworm77, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Where's Bryan Cranston? He went from Seinfeld/King of Queens/Malcolm in the Middle to Breaking Bad. If you haven't seen Breaking Bad yet you're really doing yourself a disservice... awesome show and awesome actor!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irH4ENkuxb4 - yacks, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1I miss NewsRadio and Phil Hartman.. stupid crazy wives :( Though I'm sure NBC would have ruined the show anyways..
- kmiller2087, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1i made out all the way through the majestic.. im pretty sure it sucked though
- Kendralee5, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1!
- yacks, on 05/02/2008, -0/+1Buried for considering Courtney Cox a comedic actress.. she's just an actress.. nothing comedic about her.. she was the least comedic of the group. I think the title should read.. "17 actors who jumped from comedic roles to dramatic roles"
- warragul, on 05/02/2008, -0/+0... and going the other way we have a young Leslie Neilson as the spaceship captain and romantic lead in Forbidden Planet.
- nraphael, on 05/02/2008, -0/+0David Jason anybody?
- junkin07, on 05/02/2008, -0/+0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdHcZB3L3uA
- DougO, on 05/02/2008, -2/+2Eric Bana (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0051509/) was a comedian on Australian TV before Blackhawk Down, Troy, Hulk, etc.
- cjacks9, on 05/02/2008, -0/+0This list kinda blows...anyone who did comedy for years then has done one or two t.v. episodes of a dramatic nature shouldn't count. I don't see that as a successful transition.
- ogisdan, on 05/02/2008, -4/+3I love Dennis Leary. Rescue Me is pure sex.
- adikt, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1I would hardly call Full House dramatic
- warragul, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1I'm with you. Don't let him ruin any more movies.
- OfNumbers, on 05/02/2008, -2/+1Sagget*.
- batsaru, on 05/02/2008, -1/+0this kids this days dont respect the good old day they tink they own the world but i say clean the eart and clrean the counciuness of the the apartment. - spinaltap87, on 05/02/2008, -4/+2Should I digg this for Richard Belzer or bury it for Dennis Leary? You know what, for even including Leary on this list makes the author an id-oit.
