- ZhiZaki, on 11/14/2009, -2/+120Seriously? Angel? Pft whatever. It ran for 5 seasons.....that's not "Too Soon", that is "Average Life Span" of a solid show.
Here's a list for everyone who doesn't want to look:
1. Angel
2. Bionic Woman
3. Birds of Prey
4. Brimstone
5. Firefly
6. Invasion
7. Jericho <---- ***** loved this show!
8. The Lone Gunmen
9. Millennium
10. Star Trek: TOS
11. Terminator TSCC
12. Tru Calling
Random list here if you ask me. - Pecheckler, on 11/15/2009, -10/+112Firefly could have ran for 10 seasons!
- Bravoscuba, on 11/15/2009, -10/+109Dugg for having Firefly.
- Igrift, on 11/14/2009, -2/+59Lesson learned, stop dealing with Fox or they will cancel your show regardless of popularity.
Well, not true, before they do that they will move your show around 100 times making it damn impossible to attract new viewers, then they cancel it. - e2madina, on 11/15/2009, -8/+63Where's Futurama?
- Crimeodial, on 11/15/2009, -0/+54Space Above and Beyond?
- executex, on 11/15/2009, -9/+53Dugg for Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles.... canceled way toooo soon.
- borez, on 11/14/2009, -1/+41Before bittorent I'd never really watched a lot of American TV shows apart from the select stuff we got over here in the UK.
But... after four or five years of it I'm starting to hate this culture of pulling shows just as they're getting good. It's like, if you're going to cancel a show, at least let the season play out and conclude it so it actually finishes. It's damned annoying and, quite frankly, an insult to those watching the show leaving it up in the air like that. - yeeaauuh, on 11/14/2009, -1/+36No Dark Angel?
- Shogi, on 11/15/2009, -3/+35Bionic Woman wasn't canceled soon enough. It genuinely sucked.
Defying Gravity needs to be on this list. - boeingb17, on 11/15/2009, -3/+34You really need to examine your definition of Science Fiction.
Vampires are not science fiction. Zombies are cool, but not science fiction. Vampire slayers, although written by an author who went on to write science fiction, are not science fiction.
Call me a purist, but next thing you know, they'll be calling Lord of the Rings science fiction.

- newbill123, on 11/15/2009, -0/+24Here's an odd one... Babylon 5
It was the threat of cancellation that did this one in and undermined the last year of it's broadcast run. The story was very high on continuity and planned story arcs over a 5 year period. When the writer/creator, J. Michael Straczynski, saw the network was on going down in flames, he wrapped everything up in the fourth year. Cutting out less important plot points and compacting everything down into a very high paced fourth season.
When a new network took over and a fifth season was green-lit, there wasn't really anything left to say that was of the same high interest level or importance of the previous work. It really kind of floundered looking for a reason to exist in its last year with an abundance of one-shot episodes and no real ability to create the huge story arc that had propelled things so long.
I enjoy what was presented and am happy that it wasn't one of those shows where nothing was resolved in the end. But had things been paced and spread over two final seasons as intended, I would probably have a lot more appreciation for the show and its small details.
But I can't blame the writer or production itself. The threat of cancellation, rather than cancellation itself, is what did this series in. - kster, on 11/15/2009, -1/+25Farscape?!
- shawn789, on 11/15/2009, -6/+27Have you ever seen Firefly? I'm assuming not because if you had, you'd be just as outraged as the rest of us that Fox ***** over one of the best show that it's ever aired. No. THE best show it's ever aired.
Here's some advice. spend an afternoon and watch the entire series. Rent it, Hulu, NinjaVideo, whatever. If you can't devote an afternoon to the best show ever, at least watch the movie. After you've done that, come back to us and extol your new found love for the best show ever along with the rest of us. - dagamer34, on 11/15/2009, -2/+22It got "uncancelled", so I don't think it counts. New episodes on Comedy Central starting mid-2010.
- FlyingSquidwolf, on 11/15/2009, -1/+21LOL @ Bionic Woman
- reed311, on 11/15/2009, -11/+30Enough with the the Joss Whedon *****. This man is the Ron Paul of television/movies. This article is just an attempt to promote this guy's mediocre television shows. Angel ran for five seasons, most shows would be lucky to even run for half of that.
- borez, on 11/15/2009, -2/+21Interesting point, although I couldn't really give a ***** about feeling warm and fuzzy to be honest, it's all about quality drama that concludes to be honest, you don't go to the cinema and watch half a film. I do however own the complete set of both the wire 24, The Wire and quite a few other American shows on DVD and If I hadn't found them through bittorent... I wouldn't have bought the DVD's so you're wrong on that account.
- reyoo30309, on 11/15/2009, -8/+27And some how we are in for more seasons of Heroes, Fringe, and Smallville.
- boeingb17, on 11/15/2009, -4/+22...and Angel became Science Fiction when?
If we're going down that path, then I thought the XFL was canceled too soon. - Eurynom0s, on 11/15/2009, -4/+21Dugg for TOS and Firefly.
- snafubar, on 11/15/2009, -0/+17Good news, everyone!
- reticulate, on 11/15/2009, -1/+17It had rats in it?
- spookyttws, on 11/15/2009, -2/+18Not a great list. But I will say I'm glad Fox is at least airing the rest of Dollhouse and giving them a chance to have an actual thought out finale. The ending may be rushed into 2 or 3 episodes, but that's a lot better than just ending in the middle of a season. I hate it when they don't even allow the creators to give any closure to the fans.
- waynefoolx, on 11/15/2009, -2/+17Some of these were no brainers (star trek, firefly) some were noodle scratchers (tru calling, really?) but props for the Millennium mention. That was a darn good show.
- Heiliger, on 11/15/2009, -1/+16One vote for Journeyman.
- RazarX, on 11/15/2009, -4/+19Harsh Realm.
Stargate Atlantis. - 350Zed, on 11/15/2009, -4/+19British TV is like American TV, but with 90% less suck.
- weizilla, on 11/15/2009, -1/+15undugg for the crappy Firefly highlights video containing loud crappy background music added on
- adml_shake, on 11/15/2009, -1/+15No Space Above and Beyond?
And I'm sorry, but the Bionic woman was a horrible show. - Truzen, on 11/15/2009, -0/+14Dang, everyone else beat me to it. But yeah, Futurama is coming back.Comedy Central, mid-2010.
- Maraud3r, on 11/15/2009, -1/+15I miss Rodney. =( Best TV character ever!
- Ne007, on 11/15/2009, -1/+15Farscape. It had a good run and deserved more than 4 seasons.
The only one I'd like back on that list was Invasion....that was a great show that left me hangin.
I'd put Blade the series on there because it was really good imo.
SciFi definitely isn't mainstream and those kind of shows get the ax quickly. I try not to watch a show until it has been renewed for season 3.
.....but I did start watching flashforward......that show is destined for a quick ending because it is good scifi. - jrm125, on 11/15/2009, -1/+14Needs more Seaquest DSV
- flyinfoofighter, on 11/15/2009, -0/+12You guys are too fast! Rest assured Futurama will be coming back to Comedy Central in mid-2010.
- teamgwho, on 11/15/2009, -7/+18buried for including fringe
- allnuts, on 11/15/2009, -0/+11Invasion! I just rewatched it on DVD. The last scene, arrgh. I can't stand not knowing what happened. They could do a movie or a TV movie showing how it is 5 years later. The kids would be older, relationships would be changed. Great possibilities.
- booyahbitch, on 11/15/2009, -3/+14I think Serenity did more in rentals and DVD purchases after the release than it did in the theaters, probably because people want to own it and watch it over and over...or at least I do! :o)
- boeingb17, on 11/15/2009, -7/+17Was going to digg the story for Firefly, but decided against it when I saw the company Firefly was in. Don't dilute awesomeness with shows like Bionic Woman, Dollhouse, and Tru Calling.
This list should have been "Top 3 Sci-Fi Shows That Were Canceled to Soon." I'm going to let the rest of you argue over which other two shows should fill the slots. - nmerouze, on 11/14/2009, -5/+15The season 5 of Angel was the best! I understand why it can be considered "Too soon".
- RonReezy, on 11/15/2009, -0/+10instead of fox getting every sci-fi show and canceling it too early, why doesn't the sci-fi channel get the show first and have a long life on a channel made for it?
- deaker, on 11/15/2009, -1/+10Defying Gravity. Ch131.com allowed me to finish the first season, but that is it.
- Stormwern, on 11/15/2009, -1/+10I can understand why it got cancelled, they painted themselves into a corner with the mutant circus and prophecies in season 2, but season 1 was fantastic.
- DrVic, on 11/15/2009, -1/+10Where the hell is the Dresden Files?
Tru Calling?! wtf! - sauron256, on 11/15/2009, -0/+9Atlantis suffered from a distinct lack of character development. It was annoying when a character (most often Rodney) would have a life-changing moment where he would learn not to be so brash and rude, only to come back next week exactly the same as he had been.
- revenz, on 11/15/2009, -1/+10angel was a brilliant show, i generally think it was better than buffy. season 5 was amazing, seeing angel and spike together like that.
season 4 was the weakest just because cordy couldnt really pull off the "bad guy".
anyone who says that show was crap is an idiot.
but no it is not scifi - aargh01, on 11/15/2009, -0/+9Good to see some love for Brimstone. That show had a better devil than anything I've ever seen... nowhere else will you see the devil stop to tie a drunk's shoelaces together. You know, just for the lol's. Awesome.
- usaaki, on 11/15/2009, -2/+11Best of All "The Lone Gunmen"
- hoodedrobin, on 11/15/2009, -0/+8Millennium...
You knew it couldn't go on after 2000 right? -
