- freakish_beast, on 05/27/2009, -1/+16"Sesame targeted lower-income, urban kids-the ones who lived on streets with garbage cans sitting in front of their rowhouse apartments." I was one of those kids, damn proud.

- daivos, on 05/27/2009, -0/+12Sesame Street annoys me now. I don't let my kids watch it.
What happened to Big Bird, did they decide not to renew his contract? He used to be the star, now it's all about f'ing Elmo. Not only does Elmo have the last 20-minutes of the show to himself now, but he's often part of the first 40-minutes as well. All the great original characters, like Bert, Earnie, Grover, and Big Bird have taken a backseat to Elmo and a bunch of other annoying new characters, like the spanish monster, whatever her name is.
They should rename the show, 'Sesame Street, featuring Elmo'. - matthewf01, on 05/27/2009, -0/+10Still to this day I frequently reference "Heeeeeere, fishy fishy fishy fishy!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFTjeaDlxDI - dagnabbit, on 05/27/2009, -0/+8This one was memorable for me, in that it scared the crap out of me when I was 4 years old.

I love Sesame Street. - airwalke, on 05/27/2009, -1/+7Surprised they didn't include those Yip Yip aliens... those things scared the living crap out of me when I was little.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qxWGr8VhzQ - Lark7, on 05/27/2009, -0/+5Sesame Street was so much better with Jim Henson.
- dlm85, on 05/27/2009, -0/+5Sesame Street was a big part of my childhood. I remember when Big Bird was the only person who ever saw Snuffleupagus. I had no problem with the special relationship Bert and Ernie had. The show taught me to count in sapnish and I still remember one spanish word from the show, agua. I think my first crush was on Maria. After all of these year I was able to sing along with I Love Trash.
- heavystone, on 05/27/2009, -0/+5School Pageant: Flower was pretty damn funny.
But were the hell is the Rubber Ducky song? Hell, I remember that song even today! - apec766, on 05/27/2009, -0/+5Slimey the Worm being sent into space was one of the greatest childhood memories of television that I have.

- edud, on 05/27/2009, -0/+4Sesame Street was good until they added Elmo. He is like the Jar-Jar Binks of the show.
- NakedJedi, on 05/27/2009, -0/+4I am a little behind on this series. Have Ernie and Bert come out of the closet yet?

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web& ... - Coffeedemon, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3That is what happens when you fill your "writing" team up with 18-20 year olds. A list like this needs a longer term perspective.
- NakedJedi, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3Missing episode where everyone can now see Snuffleupagus. Previously on Big Bird could see him.
- jeffh4, on 05/27/2009, -0/+3Snuffleupagus reveal:

- kitsua, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2One of America's best ever creations, by one of it's greatest heroes, Jim Henson.
I have always loved, and will always love, Sesame Street. - kitsua, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Pure joy;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHqL2Oy-yJw - jeremyduffy, on 05/27/2009, -1/+3The one I'll never forget is when that hispanic monster "Rosita" was introducing the Spanish word of the day which was Aaa goo aaa (sounds like Cat poo splat). I stared at the screen, unable to look away, trying to figure out what she was saying. Then water started filling the screen and it was then that I learned that Rosita doesn't speak Spanish and neither must anyone that works on Sesame street if they didn't catch that.
- MemoryDump, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2omg I remember seeing this! it scared the ***** of me too!
- lovek, on 05/27/2009, -0/+2Love the clips, but the article is a lightly re-written and heavily-shortened version of what appears in the latest issue of Newsweek.
Check out the original. It's worth a read: http://www.newsweek.com/id/199141
