- kurupttek, on 06/24/2009, -5/+96μTorrent FTW!
- IHaveCrayons, on 06/25/2009, -3/+54I used to use Azureus for a long time, but it just kept getting more and more bloated... finally I switched to uTorrent and the lightweight client is far superior.
- eramos, on 06/25/2009, -6/+48Azureus went the way of AIM and Winamp... decided because it was the dominant app they could do whatever they wanted. And hence became a bloated, ***** app. Then abandoned.
Transmission FTW. - inactive, on 06/24/2009, -13/+53Transmission, bitches.
- Spuy767, on 06/25/2009, -0/+30Those asholes ffrom 'Vuze' raped your azureus client.
- r0ryb0ryalis, on 06/25/2009, -4/+31I have gone through many clients, but none can compare to μTorrent.
- Type1, on 06/25/2009, -2/+27utorrent for those who don't want their torrent program to use all the resources available!
- rnawky, on 06/25/2009, -1/+25I think it has something to do with the fact that it's under 300k and doesn't run on Java
- ennuisquared, on 06/24/2009, -11/+31μTorrent raped my Azureus client.
- Netik09, on 06/25/2009, -2/+19Azureus/Vuze lost the plot.
- LethalLink, on 06/25/2009, -4/+19Dugg for μTorrent
- MatzahMan, on 06/25/2009, -3/+17I just downloaded utorrent today, works very nicely
- narutica, on 06/25/2009, -2/+11Azureus went to ***** when it became Vuze
- skipgamer, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8Heh, you thought AIM was good, that rules out any validity of the rest of your argument.
Winamp is fine btw, just chuck a classic skin on it. Not as good as it used to be but the Media Library is still the easiest / quickest to use of any media player I've tried (and believe me I've looked around) - msmatt7, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8Started out with Azureus but I agree.. Vuze sucks... μTorrent FTW
- hybridcreation, on 06/25/2009, -0/+7Seriously. Switched after it became a multimedia portal.
- deathfix, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6On Linux, sure. I much prefer μTorrent when I'm using Windows though.
- 3242130193, on 06/25/2009, -2/+8Yup. It's the only specific one on the list that doesn't have adware according to Wikipedia. All others are nonfree, except the mainline client.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_BitTorrent_cl ... - kaiteng, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I was once Azureus/Vuze customer and like it, but have changed to µTorrent just because it's more lightweight.
- kamikaze134, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5The only thing that keeps me using Vuze is the plugins.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 06/25/2009, -2/+6I'm using μtorrent right now :)
- hymneforthedead, on 06/25/2009, -3/+7***** UTORRENT! TRANSMISSION FOREVER!
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4This is why you should use Halite (open source). It's basically uTorrent without BitTorrent Inc.
- cyssero, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3I remember the original client in Python that raped the computer, then the Java clients until I found a decent C++ one (BitComet). But after μTorrent (since it launched) there's been no turning back.
- wakingrufus, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3i really like the RSS feed feature in Vuze. But if i could find another client with similar functionality i would switch. I know a lot of people would rather run µTorrent in WINE rather than run the linux version of Vuze or transmission or any other, but to me, that seems silly. there are plenty of decent BT clients for linux.
- emorgan33, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3God knows how many times I've switched between Azureus and μTorrent. For now, I'm using μTorrent, as I've found it to be very stable. It gets the job done with minimal fuss.
- bagpulistu, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3that's some good quality old-school c++ programming. nowadays most apps are bloatware.
- solefald, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3μTorrent for Mac is *THE* worst piece of Mac software i have ever seen.
- bills534, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Yeah I'm still on windows 3.1 too.
- hybridcreation, on 06/25/2009, -1/+4µTorrent of the win. I've use them all and it definitely is the best, easiest to use, least obtrusive torrent client there is.
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -1/+41. Enable PeerGuardian and update blocklists.
2. Run the newest uTorrent client and observe.
3. Check PG blocked log. Viola! 10 attempts to send data to BitTorrent Inc blocked!
4. Admit you were wrong. - scarwars, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2That's why most of us only use µTorrent v1.6.1
The last version pre-'Bit Torrent Inc.'
http://www.filehippo.com/download_utorrent/2253/ - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Nice find scarwars. Is that version still stable and reliable?
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Wth is this *****? Someone click them and report.
- hybridcreation, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Can someone delete this *****, please?
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3alternatively, mew torrent
- kerbe6, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2BitTorrent, Inc.
- masamunecyrus, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1PeerGuardian 2 blocks UDP connection 72.20.34.145:6881 as "BitTorrentInc". This IP actually belongs to utorrent.com, but is in the range of BitTorrentInc. It has something to do with DHT -- I'm not sure what -- but if you disable DHT in the preferences, it will stop.
- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1There is a simple trick to make PeerGuardian 2 to work under Vista. Download the Vista/Win 7 version, open the program and click "disable". Once disabled, click on check updates and update. Close PeerGuardian (make sure it is closed, not hidden in the tray). Restart the program, and enable it again. Should work perfectly after that.
- masamunecyrus, on 06/26/2009, -1/+2Uh, Transmission = Linux, Mac
uTorrent = Windows
Not really any rivalry going on, here. - unrealmp3, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I use Transmission on my home server, which I control through its web interface from my Windows PC. Works like a charm.
- AtomB, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1Wow, what a dumb comment. μTorrent for Mac works fine for me it just isn't as feature rich as some of the other choices out there. There are some god awful mac apps out there but the beta version of μTorrent for Mac is not one of them.
- AncientPC, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1That's why I run rtorrent. :P
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -3/+4BitTorrent Inc. and MPAA/RIAA probably burying my comment.
- livings124, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1We should be developing faster, more streamlined software that does more and more intensive things, which will require faster hardware regardless.
- expertsSEO, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Even I use uTorrent instead of BitTorrent from around past more than a year ;-)
- maximm, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1i used azureus for a while it was the best. Then it got bloated and 50mb downloads and 15mb updates every other day were annoying. UTorrent is so small and has all the functionality of vuze.
- AtomB, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1After using both Transmission and Vuze on my mac I get way faster download speeds with Vuze. I can put up with the bloat if my downloads finish in a 4th of the time.
