- Dradis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29That's awesome. Should be used to terrify businesses that don't have access for the disabled.
- bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Ha! Ignore the ultra-sensitive in this thread and their PC kneejerk reactionary replies..., I laughed. Ladder! That's gold Jerry....GOLD!
- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15It isn't a normal company. It is a husband that built one with love and passion for his disabled wife, and now want to make it available to others. He spent his energy on the chair, not his web site. There is probably not a huge market for this, and he is probably not expecting to make a huge profit. Especially since he will give every 10th chair away.
If you want to aspire to be as good a man as this guy, and if you are a dreamweaver wiz, then why don't you help him out? - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Here's the tank chair gun turret: http://digg.com/mods/Build_Your_Very_Own_Golf_Ball_Cannon. :)
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -17/+29hmm... apparently you have to be disabled to get one. Can I borrow a ladder from anyone?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11It might be better than Dean Kamen's Segway but I don't think it's better than his related invention the iBOT. It's a 4-wheeled Segway on steroids that can balance on two wheels and climb stairs.
http://www.independencenow.com/home.html - SoulMaster2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It may be able to go anywhere, but can it get through doors?
- sithmat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Looks like it can mow the lawn too.
- eklitzke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Uh... it snows in Arizona.
- Darq1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Whos cares when you can plow right through 'em.
- p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Gallery: http://www.tankchair.com/gallery.htm. Where's the gun turret? :)
Imagine one of these coming up from behind you in a grocery aisle?
Looks like a husband built the pilot model (no pun intended) for his wife. Cool.
Project history: http://www.tankchair.com/about.htm - modian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6ladder for burke:

- shelby1076, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I can't wait to be old!
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Pretty cool, considering it was actually made for someone disabled, and not some jackass who wanted to not walk somewhere else, hey, I'm going to go wheeling, in the mountains! How much are they?
- tylerman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5johnny 5!!!!
- Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Looks like her husband is enjoying the chair more than her in the videos.

i think that woman is his disabled wife - Chozabu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5get in that thing with a long coat, dress or something and i think you may soon be disabled - tracks seem to have no guard?
- Ralphy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's freaken sweet but it needs a cannon...
- H2SO4, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9This is better than a Segway
- sgtpinky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is my fave pic from the gallery: http://www.tankchair.com/gallery/image21.htm
Is it just me, or does that woman really look like she isn't having fun... - mattgilberg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3it's like Jamie Hyneman's 7-up Tank machine.
- pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Davros would so want one of these!
- aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I want one. That would rule.
- cybercat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, that is very nice indeed.
I want one with a rocket launcher and oil slick! - bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this would be better if the seat swiveled on an axis as the Tankchair took on obstacles. This way the seat would not lean back so far negating the "going over backwards" sensation.
- conman23456, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Better not upset someone with one of these...
- kenyon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It reminds me of that disabled dude's chair in Ailen Ressurection. Wonder if it has a "concealed shotgun parts" option?
- NewEvolution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I KNEW those treads looked familiar for a reason. Good eyes.
- CJHtxGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ahahaha, I wonder if it will come to life if it gets hit by lightning?
- fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Thank you for your interest in Tankchair. I am not building anymore right now as I am working on a new one that will make my first one obsolete. I don't want to take anyone's money and tell them it what they are buying will be second class in six months. My new chair will be self-leveling and will be able to carry a payload to 500lbs. (227 kilos) It will also be able go indoors and fit in the 40"x30" ADA envelope. I will keep your E-mail on file and mail you once the chair is done. Thank you and keep watching our web page for the new Tankchair. "
- fixit2new, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The tracks:
http://www.mattracks.com/html/litefoot_atv.htm - kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah those tracks are exactly the same
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now all i need is pool of sharks, with frikgen laser beams attached to their heads...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How fantastically badass!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool idea. This thing could evolve into something a little more compact, but just as useful.
- N00F, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree. The pictures of the chair navigating the curb shows the rider tilting back quite a bit. Likewise, the girl on the rut in the snow seems quite uneasy about how the chair is tipping. If the seat was suspended by a series of actuators then it would be able to keep the rider fairly level as the chair navigated obstacles, especially steep stairs.
- rowanjl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Help him out:
1. Don't use dreamweaver, at all. Ever.
2. Don't use bad SEO tactics like filling alt text with useless spam
3. Ask him to email me... - LinuxGalore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, the seat needs to be made independent of the base, maybe use the batteries as a counter weight so it becomes self righting.
- mydiggname, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1All Your Gimp Are Belong To Us!!!
Sorry if I offended ...couldn't resist...:-P - matt0baba, on 10/12/2007, -10/+9The iBot eh? well that just proves that everything with an " i " infront of it is worth ur money...and btw go ahead and mod me down...it just proves my point ... and BTW im not a mac fanboy
- Ratteler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Doushe.
Belive it or not, the letter "i" was used before Apple. Hell.. it was even used before the Internet. Try going outside some time.
Or at least looking up what you're babbling about before you speak.
The iBot predates the iPod and has nothing to do with Apple or Music.
It's a wheel chair that balances like a segway and goes up stairs, as well as allowing the person in it to "stand". - bpowah, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Is there any reason an ATV (perhaps with some minor mods) wouldn't do?
- kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2are you kidding?
- CJHtxGeek, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Happens to everyone; more than half of a story's worth is *advertising*, lol as seen by the recent digg about stories with the words "awesome" "amazing" and so forth... this one has ultimate, with pretty capitols for TANK CHAIR, dont you see how his is soooo much better on the eye?
/sarcasm
but really, better advertising >,> - SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Digg scripting at its best.
