iPhone - Defective By Design
defectivebydesign.org — The iPhone hype hides a basic problem – Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) inside the iPhone means that it wont be under your control. Apple also want you to switch your cell phone service to AT&T – who collaborated with the National Security Agency (NSA) in a massive, illegal program to wiretap and data mine Americans' communications.

Not only is AT&T a company that likes to ***** on it's customers, but they have bad service around here, too. When somebody unlocks the iPhone, then it will become the holy grail of portable devices.

- mrlinux, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6AT&T was bought out by sbc and sbc changed their names to AT&T and bought out cingular. Basically everything is owned by SouthWesternBell, all one company, that bought everything out and renamed itself to seem less like a big corporate capitalist company.

I'm hoping some intrepid hackers can open up the functionality of what really is a promising device.

The hardware is nice, but for the price it isn't really all that impressive, especially since you essentially committing yourself to two years of giving your money away to AT&T and Apple for their less than stellar services.

- Arranmc182, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3when the iphone comes out in the UK unless its on all networks, it will not sell that well cus over in the UK people don't like to switch phone company's just for a phone its what happened with the network 3 in the UK they had 3 only handsets but they didnt sell that well and 3 didnt realy take off till it started to sell the same phones as the other networks

This means that the iPhone will either have to make the iPhone 3G in the UK, or it will be obsolete a few months after it comes out.

At what point will they realize it's not a war to be won? I'm sorry but it just doesn't seem to be worth endangering the lives nor spending the money--building under sea level in that area just isn't sensible.
