- sometimes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There is also a demo site found here: http://www.eyeos.org/?section=Test
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I installed this on my server. Seems like it will prove useful. I too, wish it used AJAX...
But... AJAX functionality is planned for v0.9, according to the Dev Wiki, and looking at their release history, that will be coming VERY soon (within a month or 2 would be my guess). At any rate, I cant wait to upgrade. This is a great product! - xamox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is very similar to Java Network Launch Protocol (JNLP) Applications. These are very cool and run much faster than this. Better idea too because it downloads a small amount of the application on your side, so you/server share processing of data.

Google these [JNLP based] programs:
1. jftp (a file transfer client that supports SSL, NFS, SMB, FTP, etc)
2. jdiskreport (a utility that analyzes a harddrive)
3. jext (A text editor)
4. jIRCii (An IRC Program) - gbm85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree. Makes more sense to use VNC or SSH.
- Jasoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Froze Safari at one point, looks messed up in FireFox.
Yep, it's an awesome proof of concept. I digg. - BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice concept, can't wait to try it out.. digg++
- DiGiTaLFX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or just vnc i suppose
- terssi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Maybe they should make it compatible with Dashboard/Konfabulator/Microsoft Widgets?
- Doomhammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Although this is a dupe, I didn't see it before... And this is a REALLY sweet concept. Perhaps i'll try to write an app for it or something.
FunkyDigit: User error, it works fine for me, Ubuntu Linux / Apache / PHP4 - ericpp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Too clunky... maybe do some precaching so clicking on the icons so the windows don't have to load the images
- FunkyDigit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, great... It kept crashing and made the text information unreadable. I'll stick to OSX.
- cavicster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting. I have it installed but I don't think that I would really use it.
- serpico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really don't see the use for this with its limitations and bandwidth issues. I feel better knowing my OS is sitting on my harddisk along with my personal data.
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bandwidth intensive
- link470, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think this owns the other two online OS's we saw yesterday.
- jbond03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DOESNT WORK IN IE, but who uses IE anyway?
- nthitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0neat concept, but the lack of ajax, well, it sucks.
- theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know what to do with it once i save it, what do i use to open it?
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"dupe nazis : terminated"
gee, i didnt know people loved to see repeated stories again...why dont i just submit a story about eyeOS again, and see how you would rate it. - kemie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0reminds me of http://www.computadora.de
- dignan2681, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this does own Robin and FlyakiteOS. I wish my os looked this good.
...guess I should get a Mac - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks like ***** :(
- dewey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would love to see this in AJAX or something for increased speed.
- Jules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I got an idea, call it googleos, then loads of people would be praising it...
- jbond03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lets hope google will buy their rights and make it googleOS and a million times better
- Dustin3737, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When i clicked the things at the top on the demo, it all overlayed the past link, doesn't work right...
- thecoolestcow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ugh, I hate it when people diss new, cool things. This is the first implemenatation of an idea like this, stop saying it's stupid. Instead of sitting here commenting about it, why not suggest it to the eyeOS team?
- PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pretty cool. The biggest issue, it seems, is that every time you open/minimize/restore/close an app, it reloads the page, which means that any time you do that, you have to save what's in each window or you'll lose what you're working on. Until that's fixed, I don't see anyone using this.
- Prod_Deity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Interesting concept, I'm gonna try it right now.
- ericpp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0... and maybe some XMLHTTP requests so you don't have to reload the entire page when clicking on icons
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0People need to let dupes die
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1dupe nazis : terminated
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0oh yeah, +digg, interesting concept

53 days ago... -_- - DiGiTaLFX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its still pretty clever. Not sure if I'd use it tho! Surely a java applet would make a much better implementation? I suppose it wouldn't be as small tho.
