... and the item? "Boston Legal - Season 1 (2006, DVD)"
I have a feeling that, if this kid wanted Boston Legal on DVD for Christmas, he's old enough to understand that mommy and daddy got ripped off by the bad man on ebay. - strikerK, on 10/12/2007, -13/+738maybe he died or something and they havent found him yet.
- firepowered, on 10/12/2007, -5/+447maybe he got hacked?
anyway i doubt the people will get their money back, paypal will make up some bs so they cant. - JoWiGo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+397My favorite comment:
"GOOD PRODUCT FAST SERVICE, WILL DEAL AGAIN,AAAAAA++++++++
Follow-up by woodgt350: WRONG FEEDBACK LEFT,DID NOT RECIEVE PRODUCT, TOOK MONEY,STARTED PROTEST ACTION" - spyder91, on 10/12/2007, -3/+238This is still in my opinion the best feedback from a seller ever:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedbackMemberLeft&memberid=andy46477&items=-1&item=-1&de=off - krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -1/+221something like this usually is a hacked account. people log in via public computers, get phished, or get a virus and they don't even know it until it's too late.
- strikerK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+182theres that single positive feedback in the midst of all those negatives, bet that guy feels lucky
- jordkett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+165well if you see.. all of the complaints started on one day.. and they bought the items in november.. they gave the guy money 6 weeks ago, and they all realized it the same day
- abbtech, on 10/12/2007, -12/+159That's nuts, guess the guy wanted to get out of the business and rip off a bunch of people in the process.
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+139it's not a "valid business strategy" it's called stealing! It is a good scam, I'll give you that though
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+146"Pump it and dump it" lol
- Siker, on 10/12/2007, -13/+146Wow. I wonder how much money he made that way.
When you think about it that might be a valid business strategy. A good ranking is 'nice' but it's probably not that hard to start over and build a nice ranking again since most people are trusting by default. So maybe you can build a nice ranking every year and then just dump it during high season after collecting lots of money. Pump it and dump it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+127same thing happened last year.. i think the guy got away with $160,000 from not sending out ipods and cameras
- MisterEd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+106This guy most likely has had his account hacked. Scammers usually target Powerseller accounts since they know they can pull off this type of scam.
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -3/+100Doesn't look like the first time he's done this...
Probably registered a new name every year :- - plamoni, on 10/12/2007, -2/+86I agree with firepowered... which is more likely? A guy who has been doing honest business for years all the sudden starts ripping people off for no apparent reason? OR that he fell for one of those "update your account info" phishing scams and now some jackass is posting fake auctions to rip people off?
Honestly, I would be very surprised if this guy really just turned around and started screwing people all the sudden... But I would still like to see how this thing turns out... - kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -7/+85What's the big deal? He still has a 97% feedback rating.
- grammarpolice, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73Maybe his ***** got hijacked and he never knew anything about it. Its easy, someone gets in changes the email account and if the guy is retarded he probably has the same password for paypal as his ebay account. Change those account's notifiers to send it to another account and kaboom! I know I don't log gin to my accounts for months at a time.
Why would anyone want to destroy that great of a history?! I wish I had so much positive feedback. - digid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+68you sir are wrong. and so is the rep who told you that at wells fargo
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+56AAAAAAA+++++++++ WILL GET EXPLOITED/RIPPED OFF FROM AGAIN. SELLER IS GOOD AT STEALING MONEY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MONEY TAKER. WILL BUY AGAIN********
- EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -5/+54"You think maybe after the 30th or so negative feedback in a row, all saying "this guy is a dic he scammed me" people would stop buying from him. I guess nobody reads feedback."
Read the date and time on those feedbacks. It'll all happen within an 2 day period, and considering it's an auction site no one had a chance to check out his feedback. He's a power seller, and they all got ***** at the same time. So yes, people DO read feedbacks. - gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45@ olor1n
Visa has fraud protection and I'm pretty sure AmEx has something similar - mayhemt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46I guess hes planning christmas in cayman islands..
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41That's against the law. You're only liable for up to $50 worth of fraudulent charges, and not even that with some cards.
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41The Royal "we". You know, the editorial...
- phatmikey, on 10/12/2007, -25/+63No, it's about celebrating the Pagan festival of Yule. Sorry to break it to you mate, but the whole Jesus thing is just a fairy tale. I bet you think Jesus was a white guy with long hair too. :)
- Toon, on 10/12/2007, -15/+53Okay, granted, the situation sucks, but this caught my eye.
"Bought from this guy because of his rating NEVER AGAIN! Sad Xmas for my kid now!"
I clicked to view the item and it's a DVD of the television show Boston Legal.
Maybe some good did come of this whole thing. It's a Christmas miracle. - biff198, on 10/12/2007, -6/+43maybe he IS you!!!
*gasp!!! - brooklynboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38I'm curious to know if anyone here actually bothered to take the time and actually read what was being purchased and what the terms were, or did everyone react the same way the alleged ripped off customers did and react to the feedback and NOT the details?
Here are some details of the alleged scam going on here:
This is the most recent item referenced:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270057744768
The bidding ended on November 21st, 2006. The terms of the shipping say quite clearly:
"Due to high demand, item may take 3-4 weeks to arrive."
The negative feedback was left on December 8th - less than 3 weeks before this thing is supposed to arrive. That means the seller has a legitimate two weeks to get this item to this person. Why did this person panic?
Here's another:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270056569506
Item was sold on November 19th, the terms are 3 to 4 weeks for delivery, and yet the negative feedback was left on December 7th - the guy again still has a week and a half to get this item out.
I smell something very fishy here, and I'm not so sure that this guy is a scammer.
Here's my problem - this item:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270055819555
In the feedback for this we see first:
Positive - "positive experience" posted on November 20th, 2006. The item was purchased on the 17th, which means that the Ebayer received the item fine.
But then this person changes his / her mind and writes:
"
Follow-up by slappann: this turned out to be my worst experience, item not rec'd, dont buy from him!!!!" and this was posted on December 8th, amongst all of the other negative feedback, as if this person simply caught wind of everyone else's negative feedback and decided to jump on the bandwagon. Why is that?
Something very very strange is amiss here... I say we reserve judgement for a week or two and be fair. - dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38 The joke "Only Editors, Royalty and people with a tape worms should use 'We' in a sentence."
- qwickone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35I didnt digg it because I care about his rating, I dugg because it's another way scammers are working and I'd like to be aware of that since I'm spending a lot of money this time of year. I dugg it so that other people would read it and be aware too.
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Heh, Digg field trip.
- nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -15/+47@hammydude: all the negative feedback is within a few days regarding auctions that ended a while back. so the bidders didn't see it coming. all in all, pretty smart plan. wait till you're tired of being on ebay then rip off as many people as you can. it's mean, but it's smart. goes to show, doesn't matter how much trust you've gained, you can always break it.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -11/+40"Pagans celebrate how they like. That doesn't change the fact that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ."
Christmas was originally a drunken public sex orgy in ancient Rome.
On that note, I say we bring back the true spirit of Christmas! - 35chililights, on 10/12/2007, -10/+39thats not completely correct, i had a 6 cent charge at a gas station pump reversed for the principle of the thing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30When I sell stuff I always answer as "We" too. It means nothing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28@nipterink
"it's mean, but it's smart."
The crook may think he's smart until he run into an ebayer whom fraud insurance is a box of matches and a gas can. - blackmariah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26That might be Wells Fargo policy, but Wells Fargo is the ***** bank to ever ***** exist. They're the UPS of banks. Every policy they have is designed specifically to protect their ass while ***** you in yours. Run away and find a REAL bank. I did so and have been trying to convince other people I know to do the same.
- akcoder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Contrary to whats being said, you can get your money back from PayPal. As long as you haven't fallen for the "register your bank account" scam that PayPal pulls, just dispute it with your credit card company.
I had to do that this summer when some ass wipe sold me a "like new" Motorola v400. Turns out the phone was beat to hell and died after 3 days. Disputed the payment with Citi Bank, they credited me every last penny and all is well.
If you do register your bank acct with PayPal and dispute the charge with your credit card company, they will just pull the money out of your bank account (It hasn't happened to me personally, but I've read about it happening to a lot of people). - dirtyharry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20His account has to have been hacked. All of a sudden all of his ads have the following:
"Due to high demand, item may arrive in 3-4 weeks."
I find that a bit suspect. - thefreshbeats, on 10/12/2007, -8/+26For a complete list of "what's the problem with PayPal", visit www.paypalsucks.com.
PayPal is notorious for locking accounts without reason... oh, and they charge a ridiculous 5% for transactions, on top of the 5% that eBay already charges to sellers, plus insertion fees. PayPal is a monopoly, that's whats wrong with it. - milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I can imagine what happened. Likely the same thing that happened to me.
Alot of the neg feedback he has is obviously unwarranted as it was left before the package was supposed to arrive. It said 3-4 weeks and much of it appeared long before that.
I used to be a 14000+ pos feedback silver power-seller, sold Mary-Kay cosmetics. I had a mass purchase of 200 items and they immediately(and I'm talking about a mere 5 minutes or so) left negative feedback simply to spite my business. It turns out the buyer sold Mary-Kay and they get some type of commission from the headquarters according to how much they sell and she was doing this to put me out of business.
She succeded as ebay support just couldn't imagine 10 buyers at once trying to sabotage me.
I can easily see the same thing here (come on, feedback after 2 weeks for an item that isn't supposed to arrive for 4 weeks). - cbasst, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27

makes me assume it is more than one person's account - earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Credit card companies hate it when their customers are defrauded. And these credit card companies have great investigation teams, high powered lawyers, insurance, and more power internationally than the US government. They don't hold their customers accountable, they protect you to keep you a customer and find their money elsewhere
Always pay by credit card - Elric1977, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Maybe it's more about the lessons learned than his actual rating moron.
- qwickone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17That's so wrong. I've called Citi before for products I was billed for that I did not receive, they did their fraud investigation and I got my money back the same day (while theyre investigation was ongoing).
- johnnyoc3, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26not for the majority of America. they are just in it for the goods and then become atheists for the rest of the year ;) how American.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The scary thing...his approval rating is still 97.5% with over 1200 feedback. If you don't look at the latest complaints, you'd think this guy has a pretty good track record. I guess it goes to show...always look at the feedback detail.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17He left a negative feedback for someone 2 days ago. He's not dead.
