- Philipp_Lenssen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+85This CBS report has more:
http://cbs13.com/topstories/local_story_305104204.html
"An explosive device left at the eBay-owned PayPal headquarters in San Jose exploded Tuesday night, shattering a plate-glass window on the four-story building.
Some 26 employees were working inside the building at the time of the explosion. They reportedly called 911 after hearing the blast. (...)
The bomb was placed outside an exit at the PayPal building that leads to the company's conference center." - wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+86@ voteforblank -
My thoughts exactly. I just finally got an account limitation lifted after 2 weeks of sending paypal every scrap of personal information I have (and some I didn't have) all so that 2 buyers could actually pay for the items they bought and so I could finally access almost $500 I had sitting in paypal.
I hate paypal. - retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+71Why ebay.. why not the RIAA?
- TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+71Or one of the hundreds of people who got their accounts banned for posting pre-orders after Ebay changed their TOS.
But seriously, who bombs a company now a days? What happened to the good ole days of lawsuits? - gweedo767, on 10/12/2007, -5/+69@wwwdot1jesdotus:
In related news, PayPal has suspended those accounts and is holding their money until further notice. - johnmalc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+67So it was PayPal. Who woulda thunk it.
- DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57I had a customer once who insisted paying for my design services via PayPal. It was odd but she seemed decent enough and I had a corporate PayPal account for all of my monthly web hosting subscriptions so I figured why not? It was only for the $500 deposit.
Anyway, I worked on her project for two weeks whereupon she decided that due to marital problems she was no longer going to move forward with her business. She demanded a full refund, even for the work I already completed. After a week's worth of back and forth, I sent her $500 back via PayPal just to get her to go away. I didn't issue a refund, I just sent her the cash.
Big mistake. Little did I know that PayPal has few if any failsafes to protect sellers in transactions such as this. It turns out that after receiving my Payment the woman then contested her original payment to me, thereby scamming me out of $1K and getting free work to boot.
But the best of it is that PayPal then put a hold on my account and all of my funds for 90 days while they looked into things. I was unable to accept payment for 25+ hosting accounts, had no access to my money inside PayPal and she got off without a problem.
Who could possibly hate PayPal? Now I’m not condoning voilent action such as the one in the above article, but seriously I could see how people could get angry with this company. - Exstatica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+55"Great bomb, fast explosion, would do again A++++++++"
come on its funny. (the bomb isn't) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+53I will digg this comment. You are not alone in your hate of Paypal business practices. I've lost a ton of money due to the way Paypal handles (or rather ignores) chargebacks in addition to how they take money bank accounts.
In giving so many people the shaft this was bound to happen... - trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+56Probably just a couple bank robbers who couldn't find the safe.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -6/+53With the amount of complaints mounting against paypal these past few years, and more and more eBay users getting ripped off and paypal's "screw you we got our money" attitude I'm really not surprised.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+61stfu. nobody deserves being bombed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+48People can't afford lawsuits especially after having lost money through Paypal. They will get the message, eventually.
- PDave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45That's what I call negative feedback!
- nsummy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+45One question? Obviously this happened, but how do we know this im conversation is even real? Hell I should have just made one up and posted it to a blog then posted it to digg. I would have made a fortune from adsense!
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41@lordthor -
Read the article. It was a bomb. Did you even read the description? - TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -21/+52Muhammad Jihad?
- awhiteflame, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33> One question? Obviously this happened, but how do we know this im conversation is even real? Hell I should have just made one up and posted it to a blog then posted it to digg. I would have made a fortune from adsense!
It's too bad they didn't have irc logs. Would've gone something like this..
[Tom] so i was talking to this girl
[Bob-work-] er..
[Bob-work-] I think a bomb just exploded
[Bob-work-] brb
[Tom] lol
[Joe] lol
[Pete] lol - dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34Abusive language will not be tolerated on this server. There are children here trying to have good, clean fun while spraying the blood of their foes all over the office walls.
You have been warned... next time you will be banned! (No porn sprays either!) - jaderobbins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I wonder who's stapler got taken. . .
- Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Someone obviously had 16,000+ feedback 100%, when one day he gers his first negative..
- Enchirito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Fhat the Wuck?
- kraemer007, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Are you high? If this had happened "pre 911" then everyone would have laughed it off because paypal is one of Americas most notorious companies. Just because we did have 9/11 is no reason to overreact.
Since Pearl Harbor, there are a lot of Japanese filling up the Hawaiian islands. Do you flip out about that too? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -27/+49Anyone have any info about how I can donate money (not using paypal) to these terrorists?
- Shopko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22They don't have to. They can take it out of our paychecks before it even gets to the bank.
Income tax FTW! ;-) - garg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28A transformer blew it up thinking that Ebay was Michael Bay.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20quick. go grab those pieces of shrapnel and put em up on ebay.
- Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20It is amazing how no-one is complaining about a building in the USA being bombed. It shows how much the general public HATES PayPal and the way the do business.
- greenvortex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Probably won't be billed as a terrorist act by the mainstream news media. The Illuminati want you to think that only foreigners are terrorists.
- Inverno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/terrorist
Terrorists are people who employ terror tactics (like bombing a building) as a political weapon (in order to gain something, press, demands, etc).
Terrorist =/= Religious fanatics or resistance movements. - chris4404, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Main bomb turn on!
- VSLOATHE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I was with you until you mentioned the FBI knocking on their doors.
Tastelessness is tastelessness, but they're allowed to think and say what they want without fear of governmental retribution within the protections of the First Amendment in this country. - farfle, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Somehow, some way, this is gonna turn out to be George Bushes fault. yep.
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16For great justice!
- kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17The problem is that by and large, the little guy has no recourse against a company like Paypal. They've pretty much written their TOS so that you essentially surrender all rights as soon as you click the Agree button.
Then when they start with draconian methods of charge backs, violations sanctions, etc. this was bound to happen. I don't agree with it, but when a company leaves you powerless and that includes pretty much ALL companies these days, what other recourse does one have? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17hahaha that made my day. + feedback for you.
