- Skyfire, on 04/19/2008, -8/+150You think they'll auction it off on they're own site?
- swaxhog, on 04/19/2008, -3/+1401. Buy company
2. Try and figure out why you bought them
3. Profit. Wait, Loss! - richman241, on 04/19/2008, -2/+90If google buys skype, they could create the best phone ever.
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -5/+70Google could do so much with it - esp with the gphone. Personally I'd like to see them add a 'Skype' layer to Google Earth.
- RevJonathan, on 04/19/2008, -6/+57Seriously, eBay has got to be the worst Tech company out there.
- jpt62089, on 04/19/2008, -4/+49I hope someone that is productive (Like Google) buys it. That would be awesome!
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+45And get scammed by a person not paying.
- unluckier, on 04/19/2008, -6/+50"they're" ? Really??
- marnaq, on 04/19/2008, -0/+37I'm calling Australia to ask if the toilet swirls in the other direction.
- tnoy, on 04/19/2008, -1/+25If Google buys it, will it go back to being a beta version?
- StaticHellfire, on 04/19/2008, -0/+24"Read More - Page 2"
GAHHH!!!! When will they learn???
Stop putting 300 word paragraph's on single pages....the internets can handle more words than that you know.... - Daggity, on 04/19/2008, -0/+16GrandCentral integration!
- wukillabee, on 04/19/2008, -17/+33FAIL
- legendxx, on 04/19/2008, -0/+14You joined 2 years ago and you still have no clue how digg works?
- mrloco, on 04/19/2008, -4/+18you forgot ????
- Cruelapollo, on 04/19/2008, -0/+12I'd love to be able to call China and ask them what time it is.
- dexter411, on 04/19/2008, -0/+11Inaccurate title.
- iainc, on 04/19/2008, -0/+10Dumb question: what the heck did they buy it for then?
- jakem1, on 04/19/2008, -0/+9About as fun as me calling to tell you to watch out for planes flying into buildings?
- BrendanSheehan, on 04/19/2008, -2/+11No the best phone ever would be a 32GB, 3G iPhone with a native Skype app, oh and the phone also is free, has a battery life of 4000 years and pays you to make calls.
- SSUK, on 04/19/2008, -0/+9You think they'd realise not being able to leave negative feedback is a bad thing then?
- Tyrghast, on 04/19/2008, -0/+8im just gonna stick to a good ol 'refrigerator running' joke
- abhiroop, on 04/19/2008, -1/+9I don't see the point of skins! I mean you're using it to call someone! Do you skin your home landline?
- nwshc, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7Here is a tip for you people that only say "Epic Fail" all the time: shut the ***** up. We all know about 4chan, etc. and you are not in the least bit cool by spouting stupid ***** memes all the time.
- Skyfire, on 04/20/2008, -0/+6Dang. Sorry about that.
- adameros, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Talk about a misleading headline. I think "eBay might sell Skype" would be more accurate, as there is a big "if" as to whether they will sell or not.
- adml_shake, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Well it was kinda confusing as to why they bought it to start with. They were all gun ho on getting it then once they had it just kinda sat on it.
- alexanEmpire, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Cool! So I can use the "Buy It Now" option on this item called, Skype.
- WatchDogX, on 04/20/2008, -0/+5Why only 180TB
- eric4ok, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5I hope they accept my check for way more than the bid amount and mail back the difference.
- SealandRes1, on 04/19/2008, -2/+7Reminds me of Microsoft buying VirtualPC from connectix.
It's hard to remember, but there was a time when vmware was considered to be bloated, slow, and generally crappy. - SSUK, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4I wish people saw the irony of posting "fail" comments sometimes...
- pixelperfect, on 04/20/2008, -0/+4It also allows a second set of ad's to show (or to be blocked) on the 2nd page.
- Paradiddler45, on 04/20/2008, -0/+4Because his post becomes more delusional and unreasonable as it progresses?
- Skyfire, on 04/19/2008, -1/+5Sorry for the double post.
- Andytom, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4No but I can buy any color landline I want
- strictnein, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4Count me in as one of the people who still doesn't get what Ebay was thinking. $2.6 billion for Skype? Why?
- beankitty, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4i love skype. it just doesn't work with ebay. hmm i have a question about this auction LET ME CALL THE SELLER, LOLOLOL
- agentmedia, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3I hope Google buys it, that way we can have one big corporation in control of all of our communications
- kenvsryu, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3northwest airlines costs less than skype.
- killbert24, on 04/19/2008, -3/+6They could use Skype to allow ebay shoppers to call ebay sellers. I know someone who runs their whole business through ebay and uses the phone to talk to customers all day long. What is so difficult about connecting skype with online purchases?
- Snakedal337, on 04/19/2008, -3/+6That's step two, in this case he chose not the censor it :P
- AxsToro, on 04/19/2008, -1/+4Why only 32GBs?
- kendrew, on 04/19/2008, -1/+4with ebay and paypal.... and how the BUYER can scam the seller now...
- najdorf, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3Why would they need skype if they have google talk?
- known, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you. -- Oscar Wilde
- IEatHamburgers, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3If Google does somehow get it I hope they open up the Skype protocol or switch it to SIP. Oh, and count me as another vote for Grand Central integration!
- bugninja, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3I may be a small business man, but I would think of these things BEFORE I spent a couple billion dollars.
- 2oonhed, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3FTA : Ebay originally believed that Skype would oil the wheels of its online markets by making communications easier between buyers and sellers, while also supporting new business models such as "click to call".
BIG FAT ***** LIE......what eBay THOUGHT was that they could monetize Skype by invading subscribers privacy and marketing to them with ads & spyware & adware. But I think they found out that as a telecommunications service that some of those plans bumped up against FCC & PUC regulations.
What they SHOULD have been doing is continue to develop it as the telecommunications channel that it is. If they had done that instead of treating it like a toy it's value would have increased for sure, or at least remained steady and DEVALUED by 1.4 BILLION?....(my gawd)
Proof is right there that it's not just our politicians that are simian monosyllabic idiots. People in charge of big businesses have a similar delusional grasp of the world. - goldendome92, on 04/20/2008, -1/+4i wonder if they will sell it on ebay?
