- SpazticChips, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8ahh, this is terrible.
eBaums steals everything, they don't deserve this, they need to go hire people to do/find things that arn't copyrighted and such. So many things wrong with this. - cusoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I hope they call it "The Yiddish Cup Show"
- iheartbeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I think USA/FOX pulled an incredible move ahead of everyone else to sync online and tv media for the first time. Imho it'll be a great success."
ABC had a show called dot comedy that aired random internet clips, and there's a reason you never saw it -- it bombed.
IMDB page - Speak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Eduardo: Uh, TV and Online have already been synced a few times... like that iFilm show on VH1. And Eric is going to get legally ***** on if these things he's been stealing off of the internet go from being stolen and put on a website with ads to being put onto a television show with ads. It's a popular website, but TV is going to be making more money and getting more exposure for these things, and the creators of these items are going to want to get what's theirs.
I think you need to realize that what bothers people the most isn't always going to be what affects people the most, but what people themselves can affect the most sometimes. This is something that people can be involved in and watch closely. The only reason you're disagreeing is because you're probably a 12-19yr old who thinks that whatever people care about is obviously wrong, because you care about much more important things like My Chemical Romance. - ninjadan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The best part about all of this is the fact that you morons bitch about how the RIAA and MPAA defend their copyrights and how you should have free access to music and movies, but as soon as someone wants your *****, you're all up on the "give me money" bandwagon.

you're making the wrong connection here. think of it as if music and movies were given out free, and then some dude starts sticking his name on everything, repackaging it and taking all the credit for it. - metalrock76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey they added a new message to the bottom of their homepage.. "If you are the original creator of material featured on this website and want it removed, please contact the webmaster."
- edto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Everyone rips each other off, VH1's show showed some clips that belonged to other parties and sites that had consent forms.
- Unknowndude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Woohoo, PLAGIARISM FOR THE MASSES!
I wonder how watermarked thier show will be. - redivider, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ninjadan

"Good job on not having a clue what you're talking about. No one has a problem with the RIAA/MPAA going after the scum that's taking the content for a profit taking credit for the work by putting their name over that of the original artist.
eBaum isn't about fair use, it's about taking the work of others and putting their name all over it in the name of making a buck. Anyone with a semblance of common sense can note the difference."
---------
So AllofMP3.com falls under fair use? What about all the torrent tracker sites that serve ads? There are lots of people making money from music and movie trading and they're not necessarily claiming the original work to be their own.
I don't know much about ebaumsworld, but from what I can tell, he's not actually claiming that they created all of the content. Just that they provide a pretty big selection of stuff that was submitted from all over the web. To me this is the same as the song lyric and tablature sites that collect all the content submitted from users and put it all in once place. Then they put ads on the site and make money.
The difference is, when it involves the RIAA everyone complains about their rights being taken away. But in this case the guy is just a con artist.
I'm not really taking either side, I just think its interesting. - Anth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh, and dont forget that since Fox is helping out, the EULA you agreed to when you signed up for MySpace means that any original content you post on MySpace is usable by Fox to put on TV.
- diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Um, TV shows regularly play clips from other shows.
It's called 'Fair Use.' - Zorlak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A better link to get details on the show is posted here (As the digg link requires subscription.);

Sorry if this is a re-post, didn't see it in the comments when I scrolled through though.
Anyway, I always hear rumors of ebaumsworld stealing content, which is partly why they have been attacked lately. I don't think this is so true, as they are now offering to pay people for their submissions, and make people agree to a disclaimer when they submit content. I don't know that they are responsible for the theft, if there is theft? I don't think they'd be getting TV deals and legal support on the hack attempts if a lot of their site was based on illegal content that they don't have the rights to use... I could be wrong though. I could be very wrong. I try to stay neutral when it comes to ebaumsworld, lol. In any event, for those interested, I hope this link provides a more informative outlook. :-) - gODfall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ebaum is feeding off controversy, i bet a million dollars that all you bitches that just complained aboot ebaums will be the first one to watch the pilot show. Anyways i knew there was a reason to cut off my satellite, cuz i was paying for nothing but crap...damn american t.v.

- TheGalacticFork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Let's hope it fails and bankrupts ebaumsworld.
- Bretso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Weebl's stuff has been removed, but Ebaum is still an @ss for stealing his stuff.
- tazamore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1THIS IS GOOD!
Now Ebaum's theft victims will have a corporation with deep pockets to sue.
Remember:
1. Add copyright watermakr before uploading.
2. Wait for Ebaum to remove watermark and broadcast.
3. Sue broadcaster.
4. ...
5. PROFIT! - pcminute, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Quoting dancentury:

---------
WHO WOULDNT!? - rhizome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0of course, all of this begs the question of why he hasn't been sued for copyright infringement yet. lots of people sure talk about it, but why hasn't it happened yet?
- BESTenemy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been telling you, the recent hack attack would bring Ebaum nothing but publicity and $$$. Who's laughing now? Through legal accusations yet total lack of legal action against such people you're only only putting money into their pockets.
- TokyoGodfather, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Yes, USA/NBC is stupid enough to open themselves to lawsuits because they dont know most of the stuff on ebaums is stolen from other sites."
Hollywood knows. Like someone mentioned earlier, Hollywood is very savvy when it comes to background checks. The article about this in on the front page of Variety.com (the largest source of news for hollywood folk) says,
"But eBaum's World has also been a center of controversy -- critics say Bauman steals and often manipulates content from other sites for his own."
Many of you may not know this, but Viacom (owners of Paramount, MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, etc) once threatened to sue eBaum when he had content on there that had clips of Judge Judy, Dr. Phil, & Tim Meadows. The article doesn't mention them trying to sue the original creators of the vids (as i assume Eric didn't create it himself), only Eric--probably cuz he was the only one "making money" off them.
Interestingly enough, he took the clips down when VIACOM asked him to... - seanalltogether, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ebaumsworld will no longer be able to hide behind the argument of "we assumed the copyright holder anonymously gave us this material through our submit page" BS that they've spouted for so long to rely on content.
- ExplosiveNixon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ten bucks says he covers up USA's watermark with his own.

"Can anyone explain why NBC/Universal is collaborating with Fox's production studio to pick up a show that hasn't even produced a pilot?"
i used to work for Fox TV Studios & for Sci-fi Channel, which was owned by NBC/UNIVERSAL through USA-TV (USA owns SF Channel.)
Both studios--FTVS and USA are not known for making alot of money for their studioes. (FTVS is not to be confused with 20th Century Fox TV, a completely diff unit of the Fox Entertainment Group.) FTVS focuses almost completely on "alternative" as in, unscripted (reality) tv. in fact, FEG actually doesn't mind the fact that FTVS loses money, cuz it helps keeps their taxes lower.
essentially, to answer your question, the main reason why both networks are probably gungho about this is because
1) in hwood, everyone is trying to jump on the digital bandwagon
2) this fits under unscripted, which makes it a) cheap, and easier to greenlight since they don't make that much money b) fits under their mission statements
plus, eBaum, as many of you mentioned, has name recognition on the net. I wouldn't be surprised if eBaum or his rep SOLD this package with the idea that "everyone on the net hates me. they will watch the show because i'm known. do a search for my name on google, and see how many hits i get."
recently the nets have noticed that having shows on itunes boosts the ratings of the network versions of the show.
they probably assumed google hits converts to dollar signs in the long run.
oh, and i know this is long winded, sorry, but another reason is, USA is desperate to make a show that can follow WWE (wrestling) in its programming lineup. Wrestling was a huge breadwinner for USA in the past, and USA lost it to SpikeTV for awhile. They just got it back now. USA thinks that an eBaum show would hit the same demographic as WWE, and are probably hoping that if it does it will either A) carry the WWE ratings boost over into other time slots for more ad dollars B) convince WWE's producers to not leave USA again (if they know there's a slate of other shows on the network bringing in the same demo)
In all of tv, no network has ever been able to launch a show that can follow wrestling, so its no wonder USA is willing to take a little risk..
sorry for talking so much.. - trancelgic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Showtime should give EHOWA a show. I'd watch that one..
- PimpsofPinellas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They selected one of my clips for the TV show and sent me release forms I had to sign saying the material was mine, and giving them permission to use it. I also had to send them a copy of my drivers licence. Why is everyone being a whiney pants, Ebaums World is awesome. You are all crying about them stealing material, and none of you download free music? Give me a break. If they play my clip it will be good exposure for my TV show. www.PimpsofPinellas.com
- t3hCyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I couldn't read the article, that site is weird... Anyway, I hope this doesn't turn out to be like VH1's Internet Junk special or whatever. The videos were purposely made to look blurry and the resolution was toned down, I suppose to give it a more "Internet" view. I just hope that this "Dot Comedy" thing isn't just rehashing all the same things that are stolen for his website.
- nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"If I remember correctly, that's how the guy who did the "Badger Badger Badger" cartoon found out (I could be wrong on that, it's been a while)."
Oh, Weebl found out all right...and if I Remember right, he got Bauman in a whole ***** of trouble. - rolandog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with rekrat. although eBaum has failed in the past to give appropriate credit to the contents authors, they need to start doing it on a more public media. It would be nice if they could come up with something like G4 in the sense of web broadcasting their content after it was aired.
- manvsmonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Don't be a simplistic dumbass.
With music and movies... people share, and it's a question of the business evolving instead of persecuting people.
Nobody is stealing Metallica songs, and then posting it around all over the net saying, "I recorded this! It took 6 months! I'm Metallica!!!" The difference is it's a question of wiping creators away from doing all the work. - mendigg, on 02/17/2008, -0/+0Everyone rips each other off, VH1's show showed some clips that belonged to other parties and sites that had consent forms. http://s-ftl.com.ua

- mooseboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They have clearly lost their yiddish cup.
- zero_bit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ninjadan - the difference is eBaum is profiting from it by putting a tag on it and redistributing it.
I don't think anyone here would argue the legality of downloading music and then burning and selling it at stores. - zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is absurd. eBaum is an abomination.
- SpeedyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bring out your ebaum ringers!
When you take stuff from other sites, remove other sites' watermark, and put your own on there, you're claiming it as yours. When you put code in your website to DDoS SomethingAwful after scores of requests to remove all the content that you've taken from there, you're establishing malicious intent. When you're making money on all that after the original owners never did, you have an absolutely certain case to sue for damages.
I'm sure that as soon as USA gets wind of this, they'll quickly move to distance themselves. - TokyoGodfather, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh, here's the link to the variety article

though u might need an account to view the whole thing. - stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A deal between Fox and eBaums. How ironic. A news network that lies 24/7 and a website that claims ownership of stuff that isnt theirs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why does Rev3 not have a contract set up with major networks? At least they're original to some aspect.
I wouldn't care if Eric Bauman died. - bacomage1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can anyone explain why NBC/Universal is collaborating with Fox's production studio to pick up a show that hasn't even produced a pilot?
- xerox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1looks like it will be another 3 episode sort lived fox show.
- redbeard36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There've been easily a dozen of these Internet clip shows on TV and they always fail. Martin Sargent did okay with Unscrewed, but they did a bit more than just show the clips.
- patjamas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what exactly would this show be about? (the article wouldnt load for me) seriously, the baumans dont write anything, that would be the same as giving max from ytmnd a TV show. maybe a site like somethingawful where theres writers already, but a humor link repository doesnt seem liek anything that could be translated to TV besides 'Look at this video someone else made!' we dont need a americas funny home videos of the internet.
