Oh sorry hadn't noticed someone else put screens lower below - stephen2417, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17You have to be logged in.
Other then that, its very nice and clean. - kingkool68, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12http://img452.imageshack.us/img452/7626/newda8fr.gif
Compare that to the main page! - skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Make sure you login _before_ going to the super secret page.
- davidv, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Ironically found both on deviantart ^^
firefox "Truth" http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/28635671/
windows visual style "Foton" http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/15733908/
Looks better with Y'z shadow and Y'z toolbar on. (aerokuro 2) - ashura001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Nice. It's a definite improvement over the old design. Everything has a much smoother feel to it now.
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Is it me or the header is just like digg? anyway it looks awesome!
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8here are some screenies for those that are not members..

edit: fixed the 3rd link, thank god for the edit feature - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Call me stupid, but what exactly is deviantArt.com? Can someone sum it up in a few sentences without comparing it to some other services or sites. Thanks.
- nathanmock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I guess it isn't so "super secret" anymore. :p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I looked through it (the site) and read the FAQ and help... it did not say exactly what the site was all about. In addition to that the link does not go to an article, so there is no way to RTFA that doesn't exist.
Before posting, try following the link yourself adinb - kefs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://help.deviantart.com/117/
What is deviantART?
deviantART is an online art community for artists and art lovers to interact in a variety of ways, ranging from the submission of art to conversations on a number of topics. In its purest form, deviantART is a means for expressing yourself in a variety of ways. - FAQ answer #117 - losershoes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Beat me to it!

No wonder why all deviantart downloads have been put to a hold on temporarily... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5They get over 20 million page views a day, digg turning up doesn't help either. There's 1.5 Million members, over 20 million pieces of art, a new piece every 2 seconds 24/7. Some of the servers were hand built by the admins
- kingkool68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's a hacked MS visual style called Crystal DLB 2. I love it!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm guessing they're coding it and checking it using firefox, and that, once it works in firefox they plan to expand to the other browsers... just haven't reached that state in the process yet. It's not uncommon for someone to code to one browser first and then expand to the others.
- urothane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I used to participate in the mess that is DA, but one day (before the scandal with Jarkoff) I actually read what I agreed to and got sick to my stomach thinking I actually agreed to let someone rip me off. Add to the fact that while art can not truly be defined, the 12 year olds copying manga and comic books and pretending to be porn stars really turned me off. They need to be more restrictive on what art is and isn't, rank it like Digg ranks stories that are good and then the site might be worth something.
- bowe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2okay so it looks better, but is it still slow as death? Deviant Art is one of the few pages on the net where I actually have to wait a significant amount of time to load. And I'm always on high speed.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Take a look at this. A new "parties" feature.
http://daniel591992.deviantart.com/invite/party/ - sofa0ne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow…I think I have too many personal issues regarding deviant art.
I won’t even get going with censorship or copyright issues…
I will however bitch about something that I just don’t understand.
Why does devArt cripple non-paying users by causing the pages of paying members to load slow and display small thumbnails? You would think that a paying members art would load faster even for none paying users and that they would also display it with large thumbnails to increase the paying members’ visibility.
Maybe I am missing something?
Overall opinion devArt gets a facelift…yay (special Ed voice…) but it still functions like crap. - mrWoot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Is it just me or does it load faster too?
- LazyBoy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4wow its alot cleaner to clean thers no news on the front page. But i like it.
- Pentarix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually that's not half bad.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Who the hell would mod me down for asking what deviant art is?
- kalphegor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2can someone hack the cookie to not expire anymore?
http://kalphegor.deviantart.com/gallery/ - davidv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know if you browse on the left of the current design theres a tab where you can set the minimum size of wallpapers that you want to find.
- mesostinky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yup still slow as crap. Beeb that way for years.
what a horrible site. Hire some admins who know what they're doing already.
Oh and to the person who was spouting about the millions of pictures there. Ever hear of a site called Flickr? They are either too cheap to pay for the necessary equipment or simply don't know what they are doing. - praseodym, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's somewhat stupid that they only support Firefox. I can imagine that they don't support IE at this point because of the lack of standards, but see no reason why browsers like Opera and Safari aren't supported.
- roguepixel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2well its not as if Digg was the first ever site to have a header like that.
I think its a good redesign, definatly needed - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are left right buttons at the top that allow you to navigate someones gallery. Not incredibly intuitive though, hopefully they'll find another way.
- Zlatty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow this looks pretty cool
a new face seems good for dA given that it has had the same color layout since forever - blendmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3well, its just a beta, and Im sure they'd get it to work in other browsers when they finalize the design
- skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The v5 redesign looks absolutely amazing! Not only will it greatly enhance my experience of using dA from time to time, it also has great graphic and web design principles (I'm a graphic/web designer).
I can definitely see myself using dA more because of the redesign. - zatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2woah that is HOT, its about time DeviantArt stepped it up
and the visual effects are niiice - YumZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very nice except for the deviant page. I don't like the ugly light green colors. Browsing is so much better though.
- samuelcotterall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Um, a little bit Web 2.0 bandwagon for my liking...
But then, I'm a deviantART veteran. - Ezku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, I find it scales down to 800px width quite nicely. And, as someone commented already, everything seems fine from an IA point of view. There are rough edges, but I think I'll be enjoying DA more after this release.
- Sibertank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Darnet, I knew I should have posted this, but I was too lasy lol.
I actualy think its a little too... well.. hard to say, but I llike the current version. - Tetsuo6995, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'am confused ... but i'am quite lost on DeviantArt ... Can i download freely the wallpapers ? Is there any method to download a litte more easily some of these great wallpaperes ?
thanks ..
Not really the subject of this digg but it would be so cool to download "packages" of DeviantArts .. - M4v3R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1+digg for the info.
The layout isn't that nice. It looks empty and not polished. Good that this is only an alpha, maybe in final version they'll add more polish. - chadwick359, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I'm really kinda unhappy that it's Firefox only at the moment, I personally don't know of any pages that Firefox will display correclty that Opera won't, but I would really like the chance to see this, but as an Opera user, I get hosed.
(Note, Opera users, not even identifying/masking works for this, unfortunatley) - chadwick359, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Most likely just doesn't have an advanced search yet, I can't think that they would eliminate it.
- w00ters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Much more screen space and usablility increase. Awesome.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks decent, not very impressed. Since they took like a billion years to update their ugly old webdesign!
no digg from me! - duckedtapedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Opera is worse at some types of dynamic applications than IE.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Largest art community on the Internet/Earth. Free gallery, with no size/space limits at all.
- beedeecee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Seeing as much of the DA community are digital artists, I doubt they're concerned about lower screen res issues.
- mirrorkills, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im not really liking it.. a lot of us spend a lot of time there and that backgound is just too bright
http://nyssajbrown.net/blog/?p=36 that link says it best imo.. *not my blog* - poobalam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The new DeviantART looks awesome. I wonder how they did the "Categories" menu. Its like iPOD menu, anyone knows how they build this menu?
- ChrisGranger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's an ALPHA... PREVIEW... and I'm sure all mainstream browsers will be supported when the final release comes out.
