- nwagers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How hard is it to make her dinner, get a couple of flowers, and spend some time with her? She wants to know you care about her, not that you have money...
- THMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2TH has "50 ways to please your lover"
http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/02/50_ways_to_plea.php - GeekyGirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hmmm. These might be OK for some women, but most geeky girls do NOT want pink thumb drives shaped like lipstick or magenta phones. I want sleek and black tech gadgets (like my black 4GB Nano!)
- jaxun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ha! I guess every guy has to experience the Disappointment Factor at least once to understand that 99.99% of women do NOT want tech ***** for Valentine's Day.
I like to call this the "Homer's Monogrammed Bowling Ball for Marge" Phenomenon. I have been there, so I speak from experience. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why "for her"?
- andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I bought a domain name as a gift and set it up to forward to my gal pal's blog. all you need is her password, a few bucks, and a little time, and now she has something that she can call "her website".
- louisianna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lipstick shaped thumb drive? no thanks, perhaps a regular 1gig thumb drive instead? Pink is fine - i'm a geek girl and i like pink - but i'd rather have a nice card or perhaps computer wallpaper you made me for v day insead.
If your a geek girl you probably already have ipod, digital camera and a nice cellphone ( this was just creepy in the article btw - "If you‘re the paranoid type and prefer to make sure you know what she is doing at all points of the day, then a cell phone is the gift for you.") If i want some geeky tech item i'm more than likely going to buy it myself. Would have like to see more inovative geek gift ideas in the article rather than just the standard. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I can't believe nobody's made a vibrator joke yet."
um, the first post was a vibrator joke... - --c3--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No geek girl is interested in how much money you spend (and we prolly won't like it if it is pink). This may be a semi-made up holiday, but it's a holiday to show appreciation---not how much you can spend (which spending a lot of money before something serious at V-day is weird anyway). Ger her something she'll use everyday or something that she asked for---if nothing else-- make.a.card.
- gbrushtwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article is retarded. Just buy her some damn flowers and get it over and done with. Not everything has to be bastardized with stupid technology all the time...
- MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Next year I wanna see Best Buy advertise
"This year for Valentines day, get him Plasma" - dallsop, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1Some Interesting Jewelry Articles. http://www.jewelryauctionsonline.info/

- ch1ckster, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Ah, commercial or not, valentines day is a great day to spend together as a couple and a good excuse to be overly affectionate and get lots of loving ;)
- carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1uhhh, this author sleeps alone
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Get her a nice "Geeks Are Sexy" thong :)
http://www.cafepress.com/geektechnews.45482318 - DrunkNomad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seriously, why is a tech gift "for her" if it's pink or some other fruity pastel color?
Being the female geek type, I'm still befuddled why the pink USB drives are being pushed onto me, like I give a damn if it matches my earrings. I just want the damn thing to work. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"And if you get her an iPod for V-Day, you better step up for her birthday and Christmas (or your appropriate December holiday)."
Indeed. I can see going big if she's your wife, but why your girlfriend? That's a big commitment to make. You might as well just wear a shirt that says "I have to pay for sex". You can't buy a big gift for vday and then give her a card or a $100 gift for her birthday, xmas, anniversary, etc.
Learn to pace yourselves, dumbasses! - Huckleberry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it was more for the geeky guy to give to his not so geeky girlfriend.. but then is she going to hate him for it in the end... well probably but I dont think I ever bought flowers on Valentines anyway and I am still together with a great women...
- ThePerchik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dont mean to upset you, but if your girlfriend is not a geek I have news, she likes Gucci, Prada, and LV!!!
- Luci, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1***** pink. Why does it have to be PINK?
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Single here, but I can't help but think, are these really that great of an idea? The geek girls who've posted here aren't interested in the pink, and most girls I know who aren't geeks are more interested in how thoughtful or romantic something is than in how geeky cool it is. That aside...these are freaking expensive gifts! Course, I am a college student, so I don't have a huge budget.
- a1shahid, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1So nice mentioned here for valentines gift. Floursh!
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This list! You should have called it "completely obvious tech gifts".
Is there anything on this list even worth mentioning? None of these are unique or interesting. OF COURSE a girl will like an mp3 player, digital camera or whatever. What about tech gifts for girls that we don't already know about? - LocDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Valentines Day Gifts that will Reduce Your Chances of Getting Laid to ZERO"
...would have been a more appropriate title. - lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"iPod. She'll pretty much have to"
obscure family guy reference, nothing to see here - Rajio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Seriously, why is a tech gift "for her" if it's pink or some other fruity pastel color?

Yes, seriously. it seems like they put everything that was electronic and pink and said "hey, give it to your girlfriend on valentines day! its pink, therefore she'll love it, right?!" - bytesmythe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My wife is a total geek and loves pink stuff. I got her the magenta RAZR a week ago and gave it to her early. She went nuts over it.
I just wish they made more stuff in purple (royal, not lavender). - wellgrounded, on 01/27/2008, -0/+0Whoah - depressing posts. What happened to romance, or am I just way too old-fashioned.
How about...
http://www.house-of-cool.com/valentines-gifts-c-13 ... - paulchu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what a dumb article: mp3 players, cell phone, digital camera...
DID I REALLY NEED TO READ THAT ARTICLE TO KNOW I COULD GIVE THOSE AS GIFTS? - knightmare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0little late...and i already got the ipod for xmas
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about this... Just don't buy anything.
If you insist on celebrating a fabricated commercial holiday, at least spend it with your significant other doing something nice, not just consuming. - jjflex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I highly recommend The Great Wall of Love as a last minute gift for the super technie couple..
- RomieZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lmao djiddish98
- maram500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I generally avoid Valentine's Day for one simply reason: Why take one day out of the year to say you love some one? Why not do that same thing 365 days a year? Huh? Yeah, that's what I thought. We as a society forgot about what Valentine's Day is really about--an ancient pagan holiday filled with some lewd acts.
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not many to choose from....
- hriwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0isn't this is a little late?
- frickindeal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Like these aren't a bit expensive, and a bit OBVIOUS?
And if you get her an iPod for V-Day, you better step up for her birthday and Christmas (or your appropriate December holiday). - J_Omega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0She wants SHOES! (... with internal USB drive.)
- lzqrain, on 12/09/2008, -0/+0However, I think chocolates, roses and jewelry traditions are the most romantic gifts forever. I often find some great gift idea on http://All4Gift.com
- merdeisel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the DSC-T7 and the olympus both suck. i got the canon SD550 and got my girl the 450. highly recomend them.
- smith006, on 01/09/2009, -0/+0In my opinion dazzling rose would be the unique gift you can give your beloved on the valentines day.
http://www.lovebegetswealth.com - Dolphinese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not a tech gift, but it's hilarious: http://www.theorgasm.ca
(It's fairly work-safe.) - xile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I got her was a wirelss mouse for her laptop.
*****. - utch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For the people that have girlfriends with ipods or MP3 players you can get them some of their favorite cd's or songs through: www.allofmp3.com. Great Cheap gift idea. Make it personal though don't pick all the stuff you want to hear, but the stuff she likes. www.mp3buzz.net (plug)
- alucinor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a huge endorsement for WINE, an acknowledge their hard work badly needs. With many companies looking to Google as the leader of the tech industry in many ways, Google porting a Windows app to Linux via WINE could set an important precident that help in the "war" to balance out Microsoft's monopoly on the client and bring some choice to consumers.
Companies will see Google porting apps to Linux, and these same companies will note the ease at which Google's able to do it, because of using WINE. They'll soon follow. There's a lot of Win32 code out there ... Linux adoption is impossible without "embracing and extending" the Win32 API.
For all those "but it's not native" screamers out there: it ~is~ native. WINE Is Not an Emulator, folks. It re-impliments all the functionality of Windows as a subset of Linux functionality. Remember, on the technical side of the IT world, Linux (and UNIX) is far superior to Windows. It's on the business side of IT that Windows has Linux by the balls. - badminus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Girls like mp3 players, cell phones and digital cameras? Who'd have thunk it!?!
- inancy, on 02/08/2008, -0/+0Valentine's Chocolate Gift. Whether it is for someone you love, a friend, a relative or a colleague our exclusive sweet bouquets will make their day!
http://astore.amazon.com/cheap.chocolate.store-20 - multifaceted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is a lame list.
How to give a gift to a woman. Give it some thought no last minute stuff, the price doesn't matter just don't buy the gift from a gas station.
That it from a girl, if you really want to impress a girl give her a random gift for not reason except you wanted to. -
