- Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is sad indeed as he was definitely one of the funniest comedians ever. He will be sorely missed.
To those who are having a fit about this not being a tech story. Please understand like any other huge site, Digg is having it's growing pains. However a recent Digg story points out that the folks at Digg are going to spread out into more categories that are not tech related. This is certainly inevitable. While the categories narrowly represent technology I have never found any information on this site that claims that this is a technology only site. I'm sorry if you guys don't like this, but I am only stating what I know is to be true - kwelling12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who cares if its not a tech story. Its big news that obviously people care about or it wouldn't be on the front page. I remember when digg first started one of the first big stories was the death of Dimebag Darrel, yet nobody complained about it then. Get a life people.
- Afroman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You guys need to chill a great man just died..
In the words of Eddie Murphy quoting Richard Pryor
"Tell him I said Have a Coke and a smile and SHUT THE ***** UP!"
RIP Richard. - spikepeck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although not a tech story, this is a super loss.
- theWaterboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One of the old kings of comedy; Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Rodney Dangerfield, and Steve Martin.
All of them entered ground-breaking territory with their humor-- all of them managed to talk about taboo subjects, and mainstream life in the same breath.
:( - IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You will be missed Richard........Thanks for the laughs!
- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pryor was the man and led the way for Eddie Murphy and all those who have come since.

- dimplemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Indeed one of the original Kings of Comedy. RIP RP.
- GameCop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is such *****, what the hell is the point of posting an article when someone get's theres on the main page after you posted it first when it's the same damn article!?! :-(

- GameCop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@masterzora
But did your Grandma make funny movies? I don't think so. :P - theDrizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0who gives a ***** if its a dupe...who gives a ***** who posted it first...you all disgrace this man, whos considered by many to be the greatest comedian of all time.
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2RIP my brother.
Shut up about wether its relevant or not. This is user drivin' site and we decided what's of interest--tech related or not. So shut the ***** up! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1you people whine like such nerdy little bitches its not even funny, jesus
- r3wind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stir Crazy was awesome yeah. I saw this in the sun in the uk - it had a line there about cocaine. He once was supposed to have said. "i'm not addicted to cocaine, i just love the smell" - LOL, i can imagine him saying that. Top bloke. Need more people like that.
- Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Thankyou Masterzora, then I do stand corrected. Other than the fact Digg is going to expand into non tech catagories, I have no further comment. Have a nice day.
- bedouin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why aren't every single one of his LPs on the iTunes Music Store -- or at least the ones from his box set.
- dombi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RIP.
- filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RIP. MS is an evil disease.
- tsocx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lol... I don't read much comments on the stories I digg.. but from reading this one's and the other's comments, I can only gather that most of the people that bitch about dupes & who gets credit are really hard-up for attention.
- hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0dupe, no digg
- vypergts, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0how does a dupe and the original make it to the front page at the same time?
- Afroman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@masterzora
It's not that.. was your grandmother a pioneer in something? Did she break any type of borders?
Richard Pryor is the cause of alot of the great comedians we have to day white or black. Him and Red Fox are chillin right now drinkin and playing dominoes.
If your grandmother was someone important then yeah! i would have dugg.. BTW if i died i know i wouldn;t be on digg. - Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0One of the funniest comedians ever...sad day indeed.
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@kwelling12:
What do you mean obviously enough people care? There's not a way for those who think it doesn't belong to vote against it, except to report, and you can't see the results of the report until it is finally taken off. As you can now tell, enough people care that it's not a tech story to take it off.
Besides, bag when digg started, non-tech wasn't a major issue like it is today. Back then, the vast majority was still tech news. Today, the vast majority is NOT tech news. - R_Cubed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I agree with masterzora. This is not a tech story.
- fucknut52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0sad day indeed. "Stir Crazy" (1980) was my personal favorite. The scene when Grossberger is introduced to the cell, just precious visual comedy from Richard. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081562/quotes

http://www.digg.com/faq - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"@Phatlip:
How do you not realize? It yells at you when you are submitting it!"
I was in a rush when I posted it as I wanted to get it up first and didnt pay attention.
lol - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@GameCop:
Does that make her death any less important?
Yes, I know you were joking, but I've got a feeling someone else will say "Hey, he's right!" - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@Afroman:
The point is that people aren't inherently more important than other people. Many people die daily, and it doesn't make sense to say that Pryor is anymore important than any of the others who die. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Two of the same stories should not be allowed.
- Ffats, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Not a tech story, shall remain diggless
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@d@rkn3ss:
NO! - fiend.lord, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The retard who dugg this...GOD DAMNIT, people just ignore the multiple warnings that the story already exists in some nerd attempt at glory. Get a life!
- GameCop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0DON'T DIGG THIS! THIS IS A DUPE!
