- Matrix_Prime, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24maybe its just me, but I don't see any news or links on adult swim that says anything about watching things online
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Good news, everyone!
- tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23Why don't the two of you go make sweet love under a bridge somewhere.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Yay!
And is anyone really surprised this is america only? They probably wanna see how hard they get hit before they go world wide. And there might also be some licensing issues. - natemcsp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Hey,
Here's a better link for more information: http://www.adultswim.com/fridaynightfix/index.jsp
-- Nathan - MaLaCoiD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11This won't go live until Friday. This digg is a heads up to cancel your dates. By dates I mean instances and raids.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11They better have their best show yet: Venture Bros.
- fleetskeet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12R.I.P. Captain Murphy
- AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Wow... if anime can can satisfy all of your needs you must be doing some strange things with it!
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I'd download Robot Chicken, but that's about it. The anime on Adult Swim is pretty lame compared to the zillions of fansubs zipping around the net. I, too, am interested in seeing how well their servers can handle the load.
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I'm sorry, but I'm not finding the main article/page or whatever that is talking about this, as it's nothing more than a generic link to the adultswim.com homepage.
What would be even cooler is if they allowed you to not only watch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, but also watch it via the Internet at the same time. That would be wicked sick (yes, I know that's a cliche statement, but I don't care).
UPDATE 10 seconds later: Matrix Prime's comment came in like, right before mine, so this isn't a double comement. Had I seen his comment before, I would have replied to it. Just sayin' is all. ^_^ Thank God for digg's new Edit Comment feature! - SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This won't just be Fridays anymore. It'll be 24/7.
- SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Futurama will NOT be available. These will be Williams Street shows, with some anime as well.
- definiteform, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Quinn: Stimutacs?! My God! Do you realize what you've done?!
*Requiem for a Dream moment*
Quinn: Gimme another one.
Sparks: Haha, that's the old pepper.
This will be just as addicting. - AloneOssifer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Both Futurama and Family Guy are not included in this lineup.
But it's not like you can't see them on Fox, TBS, DVD, and (soon) Comedy Central
http://www.digg.com/links/Futurama_to_Air_on_Comedy_Central - dkarlson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah, it does suck. I just dig thru the javascript garbage until I find the links for the .asx files...then I take the real .wmv links and use SDP to stream/save the whole thing to my desktop. Not bad quality, and you don't have to watch them right then....
- thewhitefedora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Me neither
- SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There are advantages to being in the same company as AOL. Which basically means a ton of bandwidth. We haven't had any trouble so far!
- SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4We're putting out a news story today, but there was a press release about it yesterday. And Futurama will NOT be available, unfortunately.
- SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4We are indeed showing some anime, Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig to start with.
- SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You're wrong. Full shows. But yes, there will be advertisement.
- boohiss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Pretty sure this doesn't include Futurama. Yes it's free.
http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/cabletv/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002199770 - jerr0328, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Uhm, I don't think they will have Futurama. I believe I saw the bump on adult swim for this and its basically friday night fix except not just on friday...
oh, and news article is pretty old. Titles and actual date are the only thing that's new (except no article, it seems) - SwimTorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe you could go to youtube...if you don't mind really bad quality and sputtering streaming. Plus the fact that getting it from us is legal. ;)
- Zeerus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Anime on demand, now that's what I love. Combined with the Anime Network, this should satisfy all of my needs. I'm a little concerned though. They're sure to have thousands of streams, and their bandwidth is gonna be huge, especially if this gets to the frontpage, but will their servers hold this, and if so,w ill their be a delay in the streaming quality of the videos.
other than that, I can't wait, and the new season of Robot Chicken looks awesome - maskott, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5ATHF - Number 1 in the 'hood G!
- jamms, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4now if they would wrap all this content in an rss feed and allow us to download it forever, we'd be talking.
- bgentry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Along with this and iTunes, I have no more reason to pay for DishNetwork. That is, if their servers are up to par. Normally 'streaming' would scare the hell out of me but hopefully they've thought of ways to handle the server load.
- GLIM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah I dont see the news article either? How am I missing this?
- liquidedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Let's hope they have more capacity than Comedy Central's pathetic attempt. It's usually faster to just wait for the Daily Show to come on rather than download the clips there.
- Reality3k, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yeah. Shows that attempt to desensitize the PC nature of racism are so liberal and communist.
- killtherat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Adult swim has been expanding ever since it was launched, taking more day of the week and more hours (heard they were going to begin the programming block a half an hour earlier pretty soon). Why don't they just get spun off into their own network?
- SupaDawg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+611pm - 6am. Continental United States only.
Very unfortunate. we don't get A.S at all (legally) in Canada. - msilverman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So, kinda on subject, does anyone know when new Aqua Teen episodes are going to air?
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well...this is a quality reminder...but the news broke nearly 2 months ago
and as said before...it is Friday Night Fix but all week... - Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Streaming sucks... I'm not going to plant myself in front of my computer on a Friday night to watch tv shows. I mean, come on, that's just stupid. I'll stick with recording the shows I want through my MythTV box. If this was download-able content, that would be news. Maybe someone needs to come up with a stream recorder that you can program like TiVO/MythTV?
- AndyManCan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree with that RSS feed comment. I mean how hard would it be? You have the content, right? Wrap it up in a feed, and boom!! You have international delivery! Think of the add sales!! You would have viewership of 100s of thousands, and just put 1 second add spots, and sell those (randomly distributed in the video feed). It could work, but it would take a concerted effort, and something better than adult swim, I am guessing. Adult Swim is however free to prove me wrong! (Crosses fingers)
- jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2All those who complain about it being streamed into Media Player should zip it up!! You can full screen MP, and thank the lord its not Real Media Slayer. Quicktime has better quality, but you can't full screen it, well, unless the PRO version let's U, even on the embedded web client. Another plus is WMP, IMO, is the easiest for ganking the content and saving it off. Oh! flash would look good, but for god sake's let me full screen it on my 19" LCD mony!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4youtube.com anyone?
- Rell812, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Cool, now maybe I won't have to wait 'til three AM or whatever on a Sunday to watch Futurama.
- zander106, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I like the concept of Adult Swim -- they show some great anime, and I like how they're rocking it a little old school with Neon Genesis Evangelion and Lupin The 3rd. But as long as the shows are not subtitled, I just can't really get myself into watching dubbed anime.
Anyhow, looks like this is the year of online TV on-demand. With the launch of In2TV, and with word that ABC and CBS are going to start streaming shows on their site, as well as more shows on the iTunes Music Store (why don't they just start calling the iTunes Media Store?), this will probably be the breakout year for networks officially offering TV shows to a mass audience online. Exciting times. - LordStandley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is awesome. Good for Cartoon Network for taking the step in the right direction. Ever since I moved back to a small town I cant get Cartoon Network. So Im glad I'll finally get to watch these shows once again.
I hope other channels start to take notice and follow in the steps.
This is a big move for IPTV. - allarise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4...with the strength of ten gorillas!
- CrackHappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am SO happy about this.
I am glad to see more networks joining in on the IPTV bandwagon. As a fan of AS, I always regret not being able to watch all the shows I want to, and as I really like it, I won't download the torrent as it is missing the ads. Being able to download this from AS directly, with ads in it is fantastic. Supporting a show like AS with ad revenue is, in my estimation, a worthy cause. Even if I completely ignore the ads... they still pay for it. And providing those advertisers with more targeted data and better eyeball rates through that will, I know, make AS more money and thus allow them to show us LESS ads because of it. This is a GOOD thing people. - mt2k3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I didn't think they would be showing any anime, that would be a licensing issue I would assume, as well as Futurama and Family Guy, seems they are only showing original CN shows. (No complaints though, Boondocks and ATHF are more than worth it :) )
From the Mediaweek Article:
"Shows that will be offered on Adult Swim Fix include The Boondocks, Moral Orel, Aqua Teen and Harvey Birdman. Each week, seven fresh episodes will be available for on-demand download" - jafojsharp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sealab baby, been missing that lately. "Bizarro I luv U, Bizarro I luv U!!!" - Bizarro Quinn
- CrackHappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Guys, FYI, ^^^^ SwimTorrent WORKS for Adult Swim - digg it.
- speel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ah i really dont get it .. some one please explain?
- allarise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Venture Bros or Harvey Birdman
- Ares, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5same here, where did it go?
