YouTube user sues Google for his slice of the traffic
arstechnica.com — Some YouTube users are now able to make a living, or at least part of one, from the videos they post to the site. One user is now suing Google's social video service to get a paycheck.

- ironeus, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2I see more hits in BennyBaby's future.
- Cararan, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1Ohh Goodness... :-/
- coolboy0286, on 08/15/2008, -2/+6Wow, it surprises me how people are so driven by greed these days.
- coolboy0286, on 08/16/2008, -1/+1It surprises me more at how diggers actually dig you down because you said the truth.
- Bennybaby, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0When you say greed, you're talking about YouTube, right?
And how they steal everyone's content and don't pay a dime back, despite promises to?
Obviously you're talking about YouTube, you wouldn't be talking about Ben Ligeri, their employee of two years who never got paid, despite written promises by YouTube to pay for traffic, which is now 20,000 hits per day.
On BetterStream.com, everyone is a partner from the day they sign up. How can local shmocals do it and Google can't.
- wezults, on 08/16/2008, -1/+6He should wait until Google actually figures out how to make money off youtube.
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0Google already knows how to make money off YouTube, by placing banner ads next to videos, but they only do it with .00001% of the videos. Why don't they monetize all videos? Why that's an excellent question. To convince people that they don't know how to monetize YouTube so everyone will feel bad and they'll escape federal lawsuits. Then when everything settles down and the precedents have been written for YouTube, then Google will pull out the old money-making tricks. I mean, really, Goog spends almost 2 billion on something and they don't know every angle of how they'll make money. They're smarter than everyone on Digg.
- srg13, on 08/16/2008, -0/+4What an idiot... This guy deserves nothing.
- NikF, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1A million bucks just because the guy wasn't allowed to try and earn 40ยข a year on Adsense? What is wrong with these people?!
- vbdotnetrulz, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1He has 432 subscribers. Just did a quick search and both smosh and nigahiga have over 450,000 subscribers each, but you don't see them suing Google.
- Bennybaby, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0432 subscribers on one of many accounts.
And you're comparing Bennybay to the number one subscribed person on YouTube, who has been repeatedly promoted at the expense of YouTube, and off Bennybaby's videos and traffic, not the other way around. Wake up.
- Bennybaby, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0432 subscribers on one of many accounts.
- narupo, on 08/16/2008, -1/+1His influences are GOD.No wonder he is an idiot.I hope he loses the case and the court fines him.
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0someone can't take a joke. Don't take things so seriously my devout believer.

- topherwheeler, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1After watching a couple of his videos, I am certain they aren't worth $1,000,000.
- revjustin2, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1If Mr.BennyBaby wants more money, then Mr.BennyBaby needs to get his own damn website.
- Bennybaby, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0Mr. Bennybaby's done just that. And not for money. To make every artist an instant partner, who earns money off his work. The way it should be, the only way it should be, and no one can argue otherwise.
BetterStream.com was just launched and will be full functional within two weeks.
It will be more functional than YouTube, it will display videos at at least five times the quality and speed.
And it will give every single user adspace. Every single goddamn user. And we're not just doing that to punk poor Google. We're doing it because it's the only way to do things without scamming Artists, like every other site does.

- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0One thing cannot be denied. Google is probably smarter than everyone who uses DIGG. And Google is CERTAINLY smarter than everyone combined who feels that Google is the poor soul in the case of Ben Ligeri vs. Google.
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0And Google is most definitely 100% smarter than all those combined who make opinions on a 100+ page lawsuit based on an article written by a company sponsored by GOOGLE.
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0Google is brilliant!
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0Google makes brilliant look dumb!
- Bennybaby, on 09/08/2008, -0/+0Google exploits.
The end.
