- divinediva, on 10/23/2008, -0/+35This wouldn’t be the first time YouTube has allowed longer content.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 10/24/2008, -0/+23Video rentals didn't kill the drive-in
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 10/23/2008, -2/+18This is going to become a long-term trend. I believe in the future,
most feature length movies are going to come out on the Internet.
And it will do to the theathre, what video rentals did to the drive-in. - Philbert, on 10/24/2008, -1/+16However it's still Youtube quality... I'll watch my free online movies at Hulu thanks.
- Gump9005, on 10/24/2008, -0/+11Too bad when you go full-size you still see the progress bar on the bottom.
- inactive, on 10/23/2008, -0/+11I love it! The major studios will fight this as long as possible but it's only a matter of time, in my opinion.
- Regulator980, on 10/24/2008, -0/+9I just want to say, I really miss Stage6 :(
- legoalert33, on 10/24/2008, -1/+10horrible outdoor screening and high definition movies or projectors killed the drive in movie.
because drive in movies suck ass in quality. - Winkleman, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9I noticed the other day that YouTube was allowing full episodes of Jericho to be shown.
- jwolcott, on 10/24/2008, -0/+9No, they killed the Radio Star.
- themastersb, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7Oh great. I never thought I'd see "This video is not available in your country" on Youtube.
- garionw, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7but I'm sure it'll only be in America
I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but Australia will probably miss out all together - InoMan, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7Four Eyed Monsters?
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7Your comment was bound to suck, since your username is easily the crappiest pokemon ever.
- unitedkronos, on 10/24/2008, -0/+6It sucks that the first full length film was unviewable in the UK, I hope this doesn't happen to all the other titles they plan to show.
- ChaSchva, on 10/24/2008, -0/+6Not to mention what services like Netflix are doing to the video stores.
- jotty, on 10/24/2008, -0/+6That sounds like a set-up to a Family Guy joke.
- drex8, on 10/24/2008, -0/+6Video killed the radio star
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWtHEmVjVw8 - tenchiws, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5Title is inaccurate. There was a feature length movie produced by a couple of college student geeks about their wacky relationship put up over a year ago. It was featured on the front page and everything. Can't remember the name of it or I'd like to a source. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
- lament, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5Nor the first time that they've had a "feature length movie." They did a promo with Sigur Ros and had their "Heima" film playing in full when it came out.
- CarStan, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5thats right, i've watched the entirety of Nosferatu on YT over 2 year ago.
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=MEOsb6CRvNU - feureau, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5I see you have constructed a new flash player.... Your skills are complete.
- AgmLauncher, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4When they have GOOD full length movies, I'll care.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4Giant screen with sweet sound, nice place to go with mates.
And most people don't have a forty ***** seven inch lcd tv.... - vpotok, on 10/24/2008, -2/+5unless I have an HDTV the size of a screen in a movie theater, I'm going to be going out to see Batman 10.
- freethinker89, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3*****. Four Eyed Monsters, a 71 min indie film was broadcast last year on Youtube. It was up for months, and is still there as a private video.
Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8rRFFi_stY - CrimsonBlur, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3WhoDoneIt, I also have a 46" 1080p Sony LCD and a nice surround sound setup. It's almost like seeing it in the theater... almost.
Going to a theater with a screen 2+ stories high with a bunch of people is still way better. - B3000, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3Yes, it is much better than the normal pixelated garbage that is youtube. It still isn't great, but at least you can go to full screen without making your eyes bleed.
- B3000, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3There have been a number of full length movies on youtube, including this doc about a cross country segway trip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdR41fe9Zeg
The first 10-15 minutes kind of suck but once they hit the road it gets really, really good. - crossmr, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3that's because its a dead show that didn't run long enough to syndication. They can't do anything with it. Starting it up again at this point would be foolish, and they can't sell it
- openingsound, on 10/24/2008, -3/+6Sigur Rós, Rós, note the accent. oh god im a pretentious *****.
- gotcheaprice, on 10/24/2008, -1/+4I still like the whole theater experience, though I guess I could do without all the stickiness.
- B3000, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2It is actually improved quality, about the same as hulu's 360 resolution setting. Still not great, but better than most youtube content and adequate for viewing. Unfortunately the movie seems quite bad. I only watched a few minutes of it though so maybe I'm wrong.
- legoalert33, on 10/24/2008, -1/+3Hey dumbass not everyone has HD TVs the size of the wall.
- ahtu, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2It was full of movies and tv series before it got really big and they started to restrict the content
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2Go on a kangaroo killing spree to show how pist you are!
- da7a1us, on 10/24/2008, -1/+3 Drive-in movies are the same quality as those projected in theaters. Film is made printed at 4K resolution, so its going to be a lot more high def then anything you can get at home. Unless the theater is projecting before its completely dark or they are using ***** lamps the movie should look like any indoor theater.
- tzvete, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2It sounds good, but I'm very disappointed by the fact that lately You tube puts censorship on many videos. It would be very nice to have a site, where everyone could upload really anything.Only then we could get really objective news and so on.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -1/+3Bjork. ***** the umlaut, Iceland is dying.
- buddamus, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Does anyone know how to watch this form the uk?
- DigitalBrian, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1If they improve video quality they also increase coding times and loading times, it is a vicious circle, I think the quality is alright as long as the video creator knows what they are doing.
- DigitalBrian, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1crap movie
- Meocross, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Fail. Veoh Networks has done feature length movies for 3 years now.
- DigitalBrian, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1hear hear
- pmpk, on 10/25/2008, -0/+1Buried as inaccurate.
Another feature length film that has been featured on You-Tube is Sigur Ros' Heima. - ChaSchva, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1It will be interesting to watch where this goes. This really broadens the viewer base. Ambitious.
- kjcdude, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Direct link to the actual first movie - http://www.youtube.com/ytscreeningroom?v=rKgbIz6CM ...
- Electricpigdigg, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1A shame some of the movie content cannot be seen in the UK. But it's a good step for letting anyone anywhere watch movies or episodes of shows. That is until they sort out all the copyright laws etc!
- Squidwalk, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1I was thinking the same thing when I read this article.
From the wikipedia article:
"On June 8, 2007 the entire film was initially released on YouTube for one week, but this was extended until August 15."
Buried for outright lies. - kinseyincanada, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1is it at least in decent quality?
