http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J-bao0Qu1w&watch2
watch the whole movie(yes, the entire thing) on youtube there..
Thought i'd mention that while im at it.
Anyways, about the flash player,
its alot smoother in my opinion to rewind and fast foward.. i had problems doing that before. And the graphics of the video player ui are a whole lot better. But being that youtube is so massive, wouldnt it be possible to maybe have some feature to switch between different styles and set it through a cookie? This new look is nicer but its still 'decent' considering how popular and large youtube is. They can do better..
Also, why does it not yet have the ability to pan to certain spots of the movie that havent been loaded yet? Its possible with google video.. - briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I looked at the new player window and only have two words...
'Volume Control'
:D - babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you want to link to a youtube video with the new player, just add "&watch2" to the end of the URL.
Anyways, I love this. Especially the customizable volume slider that keeps at the same level even when you go to another video. - leehord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The new player looks horrible. The current player fits in with the site much better.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've always liked youtubing short clips for the family. They were there in the beginning with an easy to use service that wasn't limited to Windows with mediaplayer *insert latest version number here*. The upload doesn't require the pain in the ass Java client like Google and I hate saying that because I love most of Google services. If Youtube would just redesign the css to be more web2.0'ish and provide more options for blogger to create our own channels on our home pages - that would be really neat.
- kalphegor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and better cache, on Firefox at least...
- Arkitus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, I did that yesterday. The new features are great, but why should the design be so ugly? Maybe they're thinking of the 'Ugly is Better' rule.
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well if they are "testing it out" they need to stop testing it out in public, and get some beta testers or something, cus blind freddy can tell you thats an ugly player.
- CarLBanks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Or maybe they are still testing it out?
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1holy CRAP that player is ugly!
ugggglyyyyyyy - Xiol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The anti-Europe, anti-American comments on that link surprised me...
Carpet bomb Europe? Hah. Try it. :p - zydehkim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMfG the comments are now readable! At last! Maybe the new design will create some sort of psychological effect that will make the average youtuber(?) less of an ass! Please...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's a lot faster now, the site and the videos. Google Video used to have that over them. The only thing I don't get is, why both flash players? I like the second one (the new one). Why can't they make that the default and get rid of the old one. I mean what's the point?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Finally! They included a vlume slider!
- bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the new look. The player volume remembering feature is nice, and the page as a whole just looks prettier from before.
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They didnt fix the whole aspect ratio problem for when you upload a widescreen video (it automatically stretches the video to fit the whole screen). You still have to manually change the vid to have two black bars on the top and bottom, before uploading it. That is if you care about the aspect ratio.
Other than that, I could get used to the new layout. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree. I don't like the new version.
- lightcycler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's with all the Flash programs being used by video sites at the moment? can't they just host MP4 files, for those of us who don't have Flash by choice? (yeah, we love all the animated adverts and bouncing hammers in other peoples' flash browsers...)
- clerk37, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@dude3609
That's awesome. Did you see that the same guy uploaded the fast and the furious.
It's hilarious. - bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's all about penetration. I believe the stat right now is that 98% of people have a flash player installed on their machine. That's why it's so popular right now.
- mocha24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The new "upgrade" breaks the greasemonkey script for Firefox to save videos easily to watch on the road. (at least it did for me.)
- the_snitch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I want play/pause with the spacebar like Google video does
- Skibare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YouTube.com and researching College Babes====No Better entertainment on the Net Today!
- SIDSI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Siragusa You'll thank me later.
- metajoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Their new video player freezes up my Firefox browser for some odd reason.
- dsailing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my favorite new feature on their site is the google ads at the top bottom and right when browsing through the videos.
whats the point.
covers 0.01% of their bandwidth i guess...................... - CarLBanks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well then you can submit feedback by clicking on the feedback link from the new video watch page. This is currently in testing mode.
- lmap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hi! can i download the flash player that youtube is using???
- metalica77, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2leehord i definatly think ur right. The new player has some stupid metalic finish and is horendus.
- fleetfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like that the new player has volume control, but with the old site you could easily click on the comment users '"favorites" and "videos". Now it only shows the username of person leaving comments on the video.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, YouTube is not really known for spectacular graphic design in general.
- SuperJesus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Eh, the new flash player is ugly in my opinion. The dark gradient layout makes it look tacky. I preferred the simplicity of the first version.
- addakorn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Does anyone care?
- Arkitus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5The design of the Flash player is absolutely awful. Windows Media Player 2 looked better than this.
