- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21sounds like most of the Internet.
"should we hire a designer?"
"naa, I took a 2 day course on Dreamweaver. I can do it"
"cool. hey, can you make that text blink?" - yannicwalter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23finally..
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It also doesn't hurt that MySpace is one of the worst designed pieces of web architecture on the entire internet, and proof positive Cold Fusion just can't hack it as a mission-critical web environment. Half the time when I visit the site it crashes. It's really sad to see people create an interesting application using poorly-chosen tools and technology.
- TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Myspace is finally dying. Jeez, took long enough.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Good for YouTube, shows what some real design can do...
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9not sure its dying as much as youtube is living
but yes, myspace is a bog of eternal stinch of fake profiles, bad design, and inefficient usability - Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Alexa tracks the internet habits of people dumb enough to be running their junkware.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Alexa, that's a great resource!
[do I even need the tag?] - Nocturnalis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"I also think MySpace is one of the most horribly designed sites on the Internet."
Can't argue with that there. - damonlab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Alexa = spyware
- jstahnke10, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Never been a big fan of myspace... i joined for a friend of mine and just never use it, everyone "pimps" theirs cause they don't know html. then it turns into a jumbled mess.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You probably do need the /sarc tag since many people think that it's actually a reliable resource.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7@yannicwalter
agreed.
Myspace has made one generation retarded don't let it do any more damage. - koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5When half of India and all of Brazil signed up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5so all 5 people that have the alexa spyware tool bar went to youtube??
- adamsetzler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seriously. Alexa? A show of hands for anyone here that has Alexa software installed on their personal computer(s)?
Yeah. That's what I thought.
Alexa is about as accurate as tracking book sales through Amazon with Gator software. - bigteebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3YouTube actually has CONTENT. Lots of it.
Myspace doesn't really have much content. The groups are useless, the profiles consist of mainly spambots and eyesores. Their video section is nowhere near as good as Youtube for searching, and/or content. The only advantage myspace has on their video section is no 10 minute time limit. It is only natural YouTube moves upward in rankings. - argh44z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Okrut = myspace of India and Brasil.
- inblinksDOTcom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Alexa is *****.
- xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe someone can explain to me why anyone who leaves a comment point out the obvious deficiencies of Alexa is getting dugg down?
...do you really think that Alexa is accurate because that is so wrong it's almost funny. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6in my experience as a web developer and online media strategist, alexa is a much more accurate interpretation of a site's popularity than comscore or netratings, and i use all three on a daily basis.
- philrenaud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reason #1 for the takeover; Youtube does not give users design control.
- GamingNews, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just because Alexa (may or may not) be accurate does not mean that the story is inaccurate.
If YT passed MS in Alexa then it is an accurate story, regardless of your personal opinion of the ranking system. My question is who the fubb cares enough to be monitoring either site's position? - eetraveller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's also pretty ineresting that it coincides with a four spot jump for Orkut - up to #7.
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=http://www.orkut.com
When did people start caring about Orkut? - Jimgress, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2god, myspace is such a horrible website. It has the worst coding ever, it has stupid users, and I'm glad it's on the decline!
*logs on to myspace. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Which is currently the majority of web users.
- adama1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1while myspace and youtube are entirely different genres of websites, and despite the page views which are higher on myspace, should it focus on its media implementation (at the moment the photo and video system is terrible) it would still falter to youtube due to the poor design. facebook is much cleaner, better coded and where as only 40 people i know use myspace, all my friends use facebook.
- shark615, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dugg down - inaccurate
Alexa is about as useful as a water purifier in the desert. - baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2good! i never seen such horrible HTML & javascript coding in my live before i visited MySpace, i avoid it like it was infected with the plague...
- johnnyrocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Happy day! Happy day! I can't wait for myspace to collapse, go the way of AOL.
So long overdue. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Which is the majority of myspace users.
- epitomized, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1This doesn't really surprise me at all. Tubes have become quite popular. My favorite tube is http://www.tubebud.com
- joggingmac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn straight it did. Myspace is the stupidest crap i have ever seen.
- Alegis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With utter ***** like this, youtube is just like myspace:
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ysabellabrave
I weep for the atrocity that is becoming youtube. - angusm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ooops ... that 50% spike last week? That was me. Sorry. Someone sent me a link to a video of a kitten on YouTube.
I wonder who the other guy is? - xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hence the +2 I have, and the -1 you have? nice try dick head.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No...it is called WEEKENDS.
- 1KrazyKorean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SO basically, google and youtube are taking over the world =)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Now if only I could edit my age and color scheme on my youtube page. I tell it to change the scheme, but it just doesn't do it. I don't have an "edit age" option and so one day youtube randomly assigned me the age of 28. Swell.
A search engine that updates the video list once every one to SIX days needs work. Keyword abuse in descriptions so that losers can get more hits needs to be taken care of as well. (ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_-rpteOYMM )
Youtube is a great site, but it's far from perfect. - DeacAtNCSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone else thing that that first page views graph for YouTube's traffic looks kinda odd? That's really cyclical - up and down and up and down at the same rate over several months? Makes one wonder about the traffic reporting from Alexa right there....
- hammerton1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"finally..." I couldn't have said it any better. I seriously hate myspace with a passion.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0soccerboi...well..Digg is ranked pretty high too. (I guess Digg users are idiots too.)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Myspace has made one generation retarded don't let it do any more damage."
Uh, how exactly does Myspace make you retarded?
Also, Alexa is a piss poor method of measuring web traffic. It's probably more accurate for the larger websites, but still, I wouldn't put any faith into Alexa's numbers. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have an idea...chooe not to eat until MySpace goes down. That way we get rid of one more useless person in this world and welfare gets to take one person off their list.
MySpace is not going down. Check the stats. It has increased in the last few months. YouTube is just increasing faster.
Digg will disappear LONG before MySpace does. - Recode, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1MyWhat?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0No...as much as the Digg community wants to beleive it, MySpace is not dying at all. Youtube has INCREASED. MySpace has also increased.
You know, the amazing thing are hte idiots who say "Facebook is going to take over as the social network of choice. Excpet that since last April, Facebook's traffic has virtually stayed the same. (Despite allowing everyone to join and not just college students.) In that same amount of time, MySpace's has increased by about 8% - KevinJim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I really do hate myspace and some other sites especially the those that suck... a lot like msn ! ( who does msn at our days ... )
- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Who cares, alexa rank means nothing, their results are completely unscientific and everyone knows it.
Neilsen Net ratings are far more accurate. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Not 100% accurate, but it IS a good indicator. You saying that it is not true does not make it so. ACtually, there have been tests done comparing alexa's results with actual results and they have sshown it is pretty accirate.
What is funny is you. As in, you are a ***** joke.
And down you go. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Alexa = completely random stats. Read up on it.
