- KJSatz, on 11/08/2009, -3/+399Why is the background of this page a bigass Dragon Age ad? I like Dragon Age; I bought Dragon Age...I DO NOT WANT ads back there.
- sullyz0r, on 11/08/2009, -0/+271"Youtube is being destroyed by ads!" --> Huge ad behind Digg Page --> Hilarious
- pwarnock, on 11/07/2009, -0/+215I just encountered a pre-roll ad (related to the banner) on YouTube for the first time tonight .
And now on Digg, the background of this page is advertising Dragon Age. - rootsm3, on 11/08/2009, -3/+201WTF is Dragon Age Digg? Huh? Get it the ***** outta here.
- nard3456, on 11/08/2009, -0/+190<-- I don't like this guy staring at me
btw those youtube comments are too obvious. No YouTuber uses correct punctuation. - crazzy88ss, on 11/08/2009, -0/+152The background ad on THIS page is HORRIBLE.
- JesusHimself, on 11/08/2009, -3/+155***** YOU DIGG!! I DONT CARE ABOUT ***** DRAGON AGE!
- rand21althor, on 11/08/2009, -0/+144The face on the left is rather disconcerting.
Is this Digg, or is this GameFAQs, all of a sudden? - EverTheCynic, on 11/08/2009, -0/+138Did IGN buy digg?
- BugMeNot2, on 11/08/2009, -0/+137I'd be okay with the Dragon Age ad if it didn't shrink the width of the page and if there wasn't a giant head on the left side. I mean, god damn, that head fills up the entire left column.
- AmazingSteve, on 11/08/2009, -0/+118Stick that Dragon Age ad up your ***** ass Digg.
- IllBeBack, on 11/08/2009, -0/+118Holy ***** - what the ***** is this giant background image ad on Digg?
AdBlock Plus - Block Image please... - inactive, on 11/08/2009, -1/+82Digg is falling apart.
Look at the full page ad that covers the background. - ericcc, on 11/08/2009, -3/+83Hijack!
I'm burying this story because of the ad background. I don't mind ads for the most part but this is just WAAAAY too intrusive. - SaladCactusKing, on 11/08/2009, -0/+74I'm only getting the Dragon Age ad on this thread, which is an article complaining about ads. Terrible placement, Digg.
- thebeginning, on 11/07/2009, -2/+58I normally get pissed out of mind at these ads, but when you watch this one on purpose it's actually pretty sweet.
- Kronos6948, on 11/08/2009, -0/+53So, Kevin, should we call this Myspace 2.0?
- elwey, on 11/08/2009, -0/+46<------- This head scared the ***** out of me
- gankige, on 11/07/2009, -2/+47I hate that I can't watch a video on youtube anymore without having to click out of an intrusive ad over the video itself. I'm all for attracting revenue through advertising, obviously. But at least make it go away after a few seconds instead of making me HAVE to click out of it to see the video. I often find myself rewinding a few seconds of whatever clip it is just because it was so in-the-way.
- Stemnin, on 11/08/2009, -0/+42Atleast we don't haft to look at the ***** face.
- drsjlazar, on 11/07/2009, -0/+40cool, but if you're not using XP, the scroll bar and the ugly fonts are a dead give away.
- jserio, on 11/08/2009, -0/+37No *****. What's with the background ads on Digg now? The page width (for reading comments) is horrendous!
- mysql101, on 11/08/2009, -0/+36So let me see, an article bitching about an ad on youtube, but the "ad" is actually a special page that isn't even a normal video. Yet here on Digg we get giant ass dragon ads with giant ass faces that render the comment area in a tiny fraction of the normal space?!
wtf. - Praystation, on 11/08/2009, -0/+35AAHH SOMEONE WARN THE GUY AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT! HE IS IN DANGER UNAWARE OF A DRAGON BEHIND HIM!
- bated321, on 11/08/2009, -1/+35Dear Digg. Every time you skin a story with an advertisment, I update my adblocker just a little more. You are wasting your money. That is all.
- Shaggy6ster, on 11/08/2009, -0/+32I knew something was fishy as soon as I started reading the comments.
They were complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling, and a total lack of gratuitous profanity. - rpgmakr, on 11/08/2009, -0/+29http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/8192/screenshotdr ...
WTF? - neFariou5, on 11/08/2009, -0/+29Black background stands out so much =[
- forcedfx, on 11/08/2009, -0/+29***** Dragon Age!
- joaquine, on 11/08/2009, -0/+28I agree! It scared the the hell out of me! There is no way to block bg ads? is there?
- ryanonfire, on 11/08/2009, -0/+26Why is batman singing?
- Thorpe, on 11/08/2009, -0/+22...and the compression around the text.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/08/2009, -0/+21Not one comment called it fake or the poster a *****.
- paraforce, on 11/08/2009, -0/+21The irony is delicious.
- jkash23686, on 11/08/2009, -0/+18the wario ad ws much better.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -0/+17What can you say...Kevin is desperate to actually make money from this site.
- ultrafez, on 11/08/2009, -0/+17... and the fact that everything is written in Spanish.
- TimmyOToole, on 11/08/2009, -1/+18Buried as spam, don't let Digg do this to you. If they want money, then they should introduce paid/pro accounts (or a PayPal donation button).
- stockjones, on 11/08/2009, -0/+16I was thinking the same thing. I saw the article and thought about how annoying the placment of these ads can be and boom a big glaring background of Dragon Age. I understand the ads to a point, but when they disrupt the interface thats a big NO. At least this Dragon Age thing isnt blocking the navigation etc.
These markting folks have to get tricky with all this stuff. I bet the Dragon age people know the age segement of the folks that would click on this article about annoying ads and figured hey perfect put our Ad there.
The trick about Ads, is that on the internet, too many ads will actually kill what made you popular in the first place...traffic volume. - dpknc84, on 11/08/2009, -4/+20I propose we bury all stories with page skinned ads in them. Bury this story!
- wozup, on 11/08/2009, -0/+15*Goes and buys Dragon Age*
...What ads? - neFariou5, on 11/08/2009, -0/+15Set a filter for
http://*.diggstatic.com/img/skins/*
The problem is you then have a black background which is more distracting than the ad. But I shall keep it blocked out of principle. - Kronos6948, on 11/08/2009, -0/+15You mean, like a ***** HUGE background ad?
- WhoBob, on 11/08/2009, -0/+14The FRIGGIN ADS are DESTROYING Digg as well
- DaviDTC, on 11/08/2009, -0/+14Going to start auto-burying any submission that is put into one of the categories that add this Dragon Age ad in the background.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/08/2009, -1/+14Right click -> adblock plus lets you block the image.
- lazlonger, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13well ruining his product is a ***** stupid way to do it.
- Ryuuken117, on 11/08/2009, -0/+12Porn sites and scam pages have ads that infringe upon the site's functionality in exchange for revenue. You shouldn't have to worry about actually USING a site because of the advertisement. As gankige said, sites should be able to make money through advertising, but there is a point where a certain kind of ad is unacceptable.
- HonoredMule, on 11/08/2009, -0/+12They could even get away with making the page more narrow if they'd cut the space out of the sidebar instead of the comments area. This is almost as claustrophobic as a cheesy blogspam site.
- LORDKAMINA44, on 11/08/2009, -0/+11Leave it to Nintendo to do things first.
