- Amablue, on 10/30/2007, -2/+220There's only one problem: With the types of messages on YouTube everything is going to be buried.
- Vodka2389, on 10/28/2007, -2/+199It might now be great for Youtube, but the amount of spam there is ridiculous. They can't go on with all the "post this in 10 other videos" or "great free webcamz." It's definitely an improvement.
- theshizzler, on 11/10/2007, -10/+174New shiny package, same retarded content.
- FoxOrian, on 10/30/2007, -1/+155Thumbs up comments are going to be a rarity, that's for sure.
- honeymustardn, on 10/17/2007, -1/+133Hopefully it'll stamp out some of the advertising and the ridiculous chain messages (no, my mother didn't die in 4 hours).
- CarolynMittens, on 10/17/2007, -0/+108I wish every message board on the internet had the thumbs up/thumbs down buttons. Reading some of the comments people make, I just can't frown at the screen hard enough.
- mdaize, on 10/10/2007, -3/+109Finally we can hide comments like:
"click on my name for the best video on you tube!!!!
click on my name for the best video on you tube!!!!
click on my name for the best video on you tube!!!!" - mookieXL, on 10/10/2007, -3/+88Yay, just went there and buried all chain letters i came across. I'm starting to like YT again. At least until they start overlaying ads.
- juicebag, on 10/24/2007, -4/+80Next, we'll see GIVE 10 OF MY COMMENTS A THUMBS UP OR YOU WILL BE KILLED IN YOUR SLEEP.
- wheel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+61what part of youtube's comment system worked well? the comment rating is a welcome change.
- satx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+60I love being able to rate comments. That's what I like the most about Digg, actually.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+60Yeah but the stop you from thumbing up and down like after 5 in a row. They tell you to come back later. That's retarded.
- SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -5/+51It wont matter. A lot of users on Youtube are immature idiots without any sense of intelligence. They'll just thumbs down every comment for the hell of it.
- faithfreedom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+46Atleast now you can burry the retard
- MrSunshine, on 10/10/2007, -2/+44"If you don't post this comment somewhere else, Soviet Russia jokes will not be blended."
- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+45I think YouTube should've added a middle-finger button too.
- danielsan1701, on 10/10/2007, -1/+38"Please wait a few minutes to vote again."
I just got that while "voting" on some of the comments on a video page. Boourns. - ph3rny, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33the sad thing is I went to a video a couple minutes ago and I saw 5 chain comments in a row modded up to +15, obviously by bots... so who knows if this system is really going to work
- majeo, on 10/10/2007, -5/+34Explain to me how this is a problem.
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -3/+32I just censored you.
- korea, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Digg did not invent community-driven moderation. Digg did not invent thumb icons.
Also note, that the source of votes will not be different than the source of comments. - maverick999, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29Dude, Digg is listening. They can't just roll out changes overnight. With a site as large as digg's, you have to do thorough testing to make sure your changes aren't going to negatively affect performance, user experience, stability, etc... Just have some patience, they'll be rolling new stuff out soon, I'm sure:
http://blog.digg.com/?p=91 - tylerjames, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24ratings for youtube comments?
given the (lack of) quality displayed on some of those comments the "thumbs down" button is going to get one hell of a workout - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Go back to YouTube.
- geminitojanus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22That's exactly what happens on Digg, regardless of the merit of what you're saying. Post an insightful opinion that goes against the groupthink and instantly find yourself at -100; post "ZOMG LOLCATS" and +1000 isn't too absurd.
- JezusGhoti, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20I just want you to know that I didn't watch your ***** video.
- bivouac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16I've often wondered if the comment rating system was standardized.... could the search engines use that standard when crawling the web. For example, google sees a comment with a link to a site but it has a -20 rating then it carries minimal weight. However, if a comment includes a link and it is rated +20, then the search engine assumes it to be a somewhat relevant link from the site.
Thoughts? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15What I dont like: "Please wait a few minutes to vote again"...Greeaaaaat
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Digg me up and you'll die in this lifetime :P
I hate those too, but by far I hate the spam the most. - MrSunshine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16You mean after not even one day, they already have coded bots to do that? Just like on Digg?
- theplaz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15The YouTube comments are just awful. With Digg, even comments that are -10 aren't spam, plus everyone has something pretty reasonable to say, where on YouTube it's the same dumb things over and over.
I really like it. - 2shae, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15it's what makes Digg, Digg.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13nice story. digg is nice, but not for naughty videos
check out *~*CAMZHOME.COM*~*!!!
also click my name for the BEST STORY EVER - DjArcadian, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I like it as you can neg racist stuff. Do a search for anything on Obama. It's rather disgusting that such vile racism still exists in America.
- adude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11"Leave a comment saying i agree, I will mark up all the people that agree"
Oh the irony. - flump, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Haha, anyone else seen this?
http://www.youtube.com/user/StopRatingComments
This guy's been spamming comments about how bad the new comment rating system is. - fugazi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11They didnt test any of that last time. So why would they now?
- mateo60, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9The comments on Youtube make the comments on Digg look like we're a bunch of scholars here.
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Seems to work fine on Digg.
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You think digg invented the comment rating system? Ha!
- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Which comment system does that I wonder? ;)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10I would say yay if the comment sections on YouTube wasnt like a cage full of animals screaming gibberish at eachother. But I think the rating system will work out well
- w3stfa11, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Yahoo Answers also has this thumbs up/down voting system for comments.
- wiifm69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Looks quite lightweight, I like it. Also doesn't grind the page to halt loading it
- JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Visit **omgwtfcamgirls (dot) org** for hot girl on girl action
*Replace the (dot) with a . - MrSunshine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8While I'm all happy that one of the stories on the new Youtube function made it frontpage, I buried it as spam because it links to a videoclip whose creator is most probably trying to get hits.
- dugR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8it limits how much you can vote Please wait a few minutes to vote again.
- LordofShadows, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Cause everyone knows people on youtube dont have the free time or the immaturity to do mass scale dig downs.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -15/+21Digg should take note. Digg's previous comment system FTW!
- Okitaz, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9I like it.
It helps filter out the... youtube comments. -
