- DeathfireD, on 07/17/2008, -0/+33I wish they had a Top downloaded/uploaded/stats page. It would be nice to see what the top legal files are for this site.

It's YouTorrent, just with balls to post real torrents. - shark72, on 07/17/2008, -1/+30It's a pretty common sentiment that we should fight the attempted demonization of P2P -- after all, BitTorrent is just a protocol, which some people MIGHT abuse. Right?
Thus it's interesting to see so many people openly mocking sites like YouTorrent, which are trying to show that there's a demand for legitimate torrents.
Sadly, it seems like BitTorrent = piracy, for the most part. The whole "it's just a protocol that might be used for piracy" is just lip service. - DVmaker, on 07/17/2008, -11/+30Great, a search engine full of movies from the 40s and ***** music, thank goodness. < / sarcasm >
- DefaultGen, on 07/17/2008, -9/+27Hey guys, I found this site called "The Pirate Bay" where it has all of this content, and almost anything else you can think of. Check it out: http://www.thepiratebay.org
- jakash, on 07/17/2008, -4/+22The best thing about all these legal torrents is that they will all be well seeded, because people are not afraid to upload.
- DefaultGen, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15Do you even know what a .torrent file is or did someone have to set up uTorrent for you?
- dvsbastard, on 07/17/2008, -0/+14No browse function?!
I want to see what is considered legal downloads (seeing as most of my searches turn up no - or bogus - results)! - Matt88, on 07/17/2008, -2/+14I did use it for a while, but then they dropped off TPB. Also found that the amount of torrents dropped off.
OK - I'll give it another go. - likeyehokwhatev, on 07/17/2008, -2/+13Afraid to upload?
- SolidSnak, on 07/17/2008, -0/+9the only legal torrents I download are new linux distros
- cdigioia, on 07/17/2008, -1/+10Good luck getting a girl in that position penis-face.
- bizkit00, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8I like it, give some lawyers an example to point to as to why Comcast cant block torrent uploads, and such.
- Kink, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8All .torrent files are legal...
- psysop, on 07/17/2008, -2/+9They have all the Boston Legal episodes and Law and Order seasons.
- benitojuarez, on 07/17/2008, -1/+8its a step in the right direction but without a browse its useless to me personally.
- Roryking, on 07/17/2008, -3/+9Don't forget ***** Phish "bootlegs" that they later decided were okay because nobody liked their music
- vpshockwave, on 07/17/2008, -1/+7Every time I search for something I just get a bunch of Vuze ***** that has no relation to what I searched for.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5Grow up.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -5/+10Legal torrents is like having a penis attached to your forehead.
- Zippo, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5Shame to see such a promising site bend over.
- Aeuta, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5There are actually things worth downloading that are torrented.
- NotOptium, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5Whatever, our football team would cream yours!
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5Dude, you are very wrong. There are many people who use BitTorrent to download legal files especially when the files are in gigabytes--free Linux distros, games and programs. Let's face it, HTTP and FTP download is nowhere reliable to download those big files without any damage. In addition to that, if there weren't any people downloading legal torrents, there would be no visitors to those site at all; therefore, the owners would have closed them down already.
- TransmitThis, on 07/17/2008, -1/+6No browse?
Now how am I supposed to know if I want it, if I can't see it
(stupid index site) - homanh, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4Blizzard uses BT technology for almost all of its WoW patches and trailer movies of any sort these days.
- slythfox, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4Exactly.
- Samo89, on 07/17/2008, -3/+7lol, thats the largest torrent db and it has 6tb
my school's smaller hub has 45tb+ - Gndoab, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5There are legitimate reasons to use BT...Downloading linux distro's is one reason, downloading the...hmm...
For now I'll just stick with downloading linux distributions. - inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4thanks for being a jerk
- bluemist, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5Over 67000 torrents... over 66000 seeds. So it means about a thousand of them are unseeded, probably thousands more especially knowing that a torrent can have hundreds or thousands of seeds simultaneously.
Plus, it has no browse function. I don't wanna waste time thinking of keywords only to find no results just because the selection is very limited. - Vich, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5You Torrent, Me Tarzan
- Samo89, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5i said the smaller, the larger ones (2 or 3) r either close to or over 100tb :P
- stuffradio, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4Yes they do... it depends on what you're searching for.
- noerrorsfound, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3http://planeshift.it is a free, open source MMORPG. "Please save our bandwidth and use BitTorrent if you can."
A lot of open source projects use it for the same reason. As you can see from homanh's comment, it's not restricted to open source applications. - MadDigger2007, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3I would imagine that those who are mocking legal torrents don't use Linux much.
- NotOptium, on 07/17/2008, -2/+5Oh yeah? Well MY school has 50tb!!
- hollyminkowski, on 07/17/2008, -3/+6why don't they give the torrents the wrong names?
I mean so downloaders would have plausible deniability.
A 3rd party could have a search engine that finds your movie and tells you what miss-named torrent actually contains it.
.i.e. you might be downloading the free film "Hidden Children, The (2007)XviD" but it actually is a torrent of "The Dark Night"
No way a court could prove you went and looked at an index to discover it was actually a copyrighted film you wanted....you were just a hapless victim of an evil scam. You wanted that free documentary badly and were distressed when it turned out to be a worthless blockbuster film.
And encrypt all your hard drives and dvds using TrueCrypt - zosoIV, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Linux distro downloads.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Wat no photoshop and crack?
They really don't think people are going to "rush out and spend $600 US" on it now do they? - spydon, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Linux isos anyone?
- Chakat, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4They tried that during the napster days. Doesn't hold up.
- cyrix, on 07/17/2008, -1/+3Err....why? I mean what they offer isn't the greatest material, but even so....
- Matt2k, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2> Torrents aren't illegal.
> Only the content of some is illegal to upload.
Oh, right, his school hub is probably indexing 45TB of legal downloads. Yep. That's probably the case. No doubt about it.
You ***** moron. - Rotzooi, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2/registers woodentampon.com
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -0/+2How the hell would that be any use? There are potentially millions of files to choose from and you would have no way of knowing what any of them actually are. And if there was some central database that links fake names to real ones that you're going to, there goes your plausible deniability.
- Zeny, on 07/17/2008, -0/+2how can a .torrent be illegal?
