I don't think some new flashy signs that say -- Yahoo! (new + improved) will work but we'll have to just wait and see...- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -1/+2Yahoo is cooking the books to get more money from MSFT.
Their revenue is in decline for a a couple years, and they've just recently promised huge increases.

- mshifley, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2I know the guy who sang that at the end of the commercials, Wylie and the Wild West. He got paid a boatload of money for that gig.

- KMartSheriff, on 03/18/2008, -5/+2Outside of being a larger monopoly, what other reasons should Microsoft not own Yahoo?
/honest question, not playing "fan-boy"- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -2/+2MSFT doesnt have a monopoly. And, it has already implemented the measures prescribed by the DoJ.
MSFT + YHOO will still be less than a quarter of the Search market.- WhereAmI, on 03/18/2008, -1/+2Stop using MSFT. I'm not going to invest just because you use it. msft would be fine, but MSFT is pointless.
- Atomic1fire, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Worse then M$?

- jlee2081, on 03/18/2008, -2/+9rosy outlook? I think they need a new prescription
- digitallysick, on 03/18/2008, -4/+7I think yahoo will regret not selling, i honestly don't see them making more money in the next few years. Who really uses yahoo? the search results are horrible compared to google.
- stevemchey, on 03/18/2008, -3/+1But how can they be the #1 site if NOBODY is using them?
- kwansolo, on 03/18/2008, -4/+17yahoo is a portal. google is a search engine. when people realize this, they will stop making comments like the above.
yahoo has some of the most visited properties on the web, from finance, news, autos. not to mention dominance in webmail and answers. they just need to monetize better.
if the market for search ever tanked, google would disappear. but yahoo will still be here.- scrimaxinc, on 03/18/2008, -1/+5"if the market for search ever tanked, google would disappear."
If people stopped dying, funeral homes would disappear too. Actually, there's probably a better chance of that happening.- kwansolo, on 03/18/2008, -3/+2i assume you made this comment with the some knowledge of all the issues going on with possible undercounting of fraudulent clicks? and also forecasts that online advertising is slowing down. and also coupling online advertising with the looming US recession?
- scrimaxinc, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Yeah I do, I just really don't see the market for search going anywhere. I think humans could find a way to live forever before the need for search disappears. That's the only part of your comment I disagreed with.

- digitallysick, on 03/18/2008, -1/+2You must be a yahoo stock holder, take a look at the value of googles stock, vs yahoo. Enough said.
- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Take a look at the P/E ratio of YHOO, MSFT, GOOG . While your at it, look at IBM, JAVA (Sun Micro), AAPL, HPQ and ORCL.
You'll find that GOOG and AAPL are the highest. The rest are in a narrow band between 16&20ish.

- EXreaction, on 03/18/2008, -3/+4Yahoo execs are just a bunch of greedy morons. I'd almost put them on the level of stupidity and greed of the RIAA, who just can't except that their company is dying.
They can "say" they are going to do good all they want, I don't see anything in that other article other than "well, we will make more money next year, we promise!". You can not sell something on what the value could be in the future (except to idiots). - ricemonster, on 03/18/2008, -3/+4I believe the correct spelling is "Yahoo!".
- MmmmGuinness, on 03/18/2008, -4/+2Depends, today a major lawsuit was just filed against them.

- thedogfatherx, on 03/18/2008, -1/+5I don't see them going anywhere in the future. Google by far dominates the internet search industry and they just keep getting better.
- AllYourBase3, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1yahoo is a webportal not just a search engine.
- bingobongony, on 03/18/2008, -0/+8Of course they are. Google is giving a rosy outlook too, trying to cover up the $60+ billion they have lost in the last 3 months.
When these outlooks are made by the company itself, what good are they?- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Watch for insider sales before the end of the year.
- bingobongony, on 03/19/2008, -1/+1From which? Yahoo or Google? Yahoo is less likely due to the fact that like it or not, before the summer comes, they will be part of Microsoft. It is not a question of IF anymore. If you are talking about Goolge, you may be right.
- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -0/+1Watch for insider sales before the end of the year.
- pimpmywii, on 03/18/2008, -2/+0dug m8 :)
- Stormlor, on 03/18/2008, -2/+5After reading that report the outlook for Yahoo doesn't seem that rosey. Some of their core applications are being put on the backburner (MyYahoo, Yahoo Mail) and instead Yahoo is trying it's hardest to go Mobile and seems thats all they want out of it. While going mobile is good, the core audiance is members who use mail, and myYahoo. Mail is still not fully developed as it is missing many features that Gmail, and Hotmail both already have like a Calender feature (not just a half ass timeline).
I voted on TechCrunch to have MS buy Yahoo. To me Yahoo is sinked even further.- Atomic1fire, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1And Google Could Use a challenge

Bush sees that he will be praised as the greatest president. - HydrogenOxide, on 03/18/2008, -1/+3After the lawsuit that was recently filed against them, plus the dead stock now that they aren't selling to MS, I see "What the hell was Yahoo?" in 2009, 2010.
- snotrokit, on 03/18/2008, -3/+1Please don't sell to MS
- centerline, on 03/18/2008, -1/+5They are just trying to get more $ from MSFT
- wageslaven, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1We have a winner. They've been loosing revenue for quarter after quarter. Then, the month that MSFT announces its intent?
And, the serious threat of the board being replaced to facilitate the purchase at behest of the shareholders...
They are going to make the deal before the Q3 08. - snotrokit, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1I know I know. I am just in denial.

- mizike, on 03/19/2008, -1/+0Obviously they can't turn down a buyout offer which would increase shareholder value significantly, then turn around and say the financial outlook for the company is *****....unless the board is, for some bizarre reason, trying to get sued by the shareholders....

- DawsonJones, on 03/19/2008, -1/+1Wow that's amazing on a count of how much Yahoo sucks.
- droford, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Yahoo has the best free fantasy sports websites, Id hate to see what Microsoft would do to them.
- eminiguy, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1I am a Yahoo ad publisher and I have been making really good money from them. What's more important my earnings have been consistently growing. I do believe that Yahoo is likely to do quite well on its own without any "help" from MS. It seems to me that Yahoo executives are of the same opinion.
