- duggynyc, on 09/13/2008, -3/+43A strong Yahoo to compete against Google = Win for all internet users.
- orion9, on 09/12/2008, -8/+39yahoo is way underrated...they got some good stuff going..i am sensing a comeback in the works
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -1/+22I hope they will bring some new and "creative" ideas to the page - not jusat copycat "color schemes" and "news widgets"
- johanrocks, on 09/12/2008, -8/+23They are improving, which is good, but it's being done through copying, not through innovation.
- Soave, on 09/13/2008, -1/+10Lol. Dude, under the picture:
"Yahoo's redesigned and customizable MyYahoo 2.0 start page, from which its upcoming homepage redesign may take inspiration " - snoogit, on 09/13/2008, -3/+11this just looks like their my.yahoo.com page.
- bitwiseplatypus, on 09/13/2008, -1/+9http://ysearch.com/
- patm1987, on 09/13/2008, -2/+10Because my.yahoo.com predates http://www.google.com/ig ?
- wizzroom, on 09/13/2008, -5/+12who the hell makes you an expert on web design?
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -4/+10Seriously. I remember a story where people were bashing Yahoo mail in the comments, but honestly, go check it out. They've totally recreated the desktop experience in your browser, it's really impressive. I think I prefer it even over GMail (minus the lack of conversation view)
- rolii, on 09/13/2008, -0/+6"online websites"?
- cgbspender, on 09/13/2008, -2/+8I'd like to see Yahoo becoming somewhat competitive, but still their website is too bloated.
Do they never learn? - kwansolo, on 09/13/2008, -2/+8google is a search engine, yahoo is a web portal.
- ukblacknight, on 09/13/2008, -2/+7Looks a lot like netvibes to me!
- aristotle1990, on 09/13/2008, -2/+7Everyone constantly bashes Yahoo, probably because of its popularity -- but in truth, Yahoo has a very large amount of content and features on its site. Google still has a much better search algorithm, but Yahoo's been working on adding a lot of cool stuff recently, cool even for tech geeks.
- Nouman6, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5I'm too used to netvibes :)
- GalacticRerun, on 09/13/2008, -2/+6Yahoo should bring back chat like in the old days when it was good.

etc. - Thekirby45, on 09/13/2008, -3/+7Why can't Yahoo just put a logo and a search bar?
- svivian, on 09/13/2008, -1/+5I always found Yahoo image search to be better than Google's. And the Site Explorer - their version of site: searches - is awesome.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -0/+4 Lets hope they know more about social networking then they do about chatrooms. Yahoo chat used to be great until they allowed it be taken over by bots and spam.
- justusbruns, on 09/13/2008, -0/+4I wouldn't call that 'improving'
- freqk, on 09/13/2008, -6/+9Whatever. I still won't use it.
- airmann90, on 09/13/2008, -8/+11I'm sorry, but why are the people calling this an iGoogle clone getting dugg down? It's true!
- Izzio, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3Plus they make you pay money for certain features like POP access that Gmail includes for free.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -1/+4Different ***** same *****
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3If I dedicate all of my spear time to your shameless spammed URLs how will I ever learn how will I ever become a Spartan warrior?
- qetuo, on 09/13/2008, -3/+6I know i really like yahoo mail, plus its really nice at the moment, to be able to easily have any email address thanks to ymail and rocketmail domains.
- renison, on 09/13/2008, -2/+5Sooo, they're just ripping netvibes....'k.
- nofate2029, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3Yahoo was one of the first sites I used to base my searches & mail from. I'll always be fond of Yahoo from back in the day.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3" third-party content and services"= More ads.
- Atomic1fire, on 09/13/2008, -2/+5Yahoo is playing their cards right now.
instead of trying to capture social by creating their own competing services or buying out new ones, they are letting social come to them, by integrating everything that matters in one place.
bridging a gap of data so that they don't have to get people to make the data available on yahoo through competing services
Yahoo has always pretty much been a portal, now its a better portal with better stuff. as soon as the updates are rolled out anyway. - Atomic1fire, on 09/13/2008, -0/+3my yahoo predates netvibes and igoogle
but the concept of an start page never really improved until ajax got involved, because it made a better start page. netvibes (and others) and igoogle each improved start pages in some way though, igoogle with a minimal look, clean. and netvibes (and other start page services) with a gradient look that seems to be more popular with newer start pages - omegacentrix, on 09/13/2008, -3/+6Hmm... I believe iGoogle is a copy of my.yahoo.com - which was around years before Google came up with a personalized homepage. Also, my.yahoo has a far greater userbase than iGoogle does today.
- sethrubenstein, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2Interesting to see gmail there. I wonder what that means for Yahoo Mail.
- Icebox3, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2Exactly, spear time is for spear time, not for spam time.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -2/+4Yahoo's been on comeback for the past what, 8 years? The fact that they're still alive is their success story.
- t86y, on 09/13/2008, -0/+2Doesn't this thing kinda look like MSN or what ever Microsoft's page is when you sign out of hotmail?
Though I suppose the real question is why am I still using hotmail, right?
- jackpot231, on 09/13/2008, -3/+5what's yahoo?
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Hotmail - my preferred junk mail account
- ButterLoyalist, on 09/18/2008, -0/+2Too bad Yahoo sucks. They banned my account for posting a "racist" question on Yahoo answers. ***** *****.
- shanesemler, on 09/13/2008, -4/+6I bash Yahoo because they suck. I can't remove the ***** news thing in mail. I avoided it for a while by not using the updated mail page but they forced it on me anyway in the classic mode. I DON'T WANT YOUR GODDAMN NEWS YAHOO!!! Also, their filters suck. Bad. Really bad. The main page is a cluttered mess. The search isn't nearly as good as Google's. I gave up on Yahoo, they are hopeless and there's nothing there to like. Anyone have any compelling reason I should switch from Google back to Yahoo Mail? Anyone?
- diggdatt, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Maybe yahoo should make this their homepage instead
http://search.yahoo.com/ - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Buzz Up?
More like Buzz Off! - roxgod666, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1How about Y!A? Its pretty addicting and better than wikianswers.
- roxgod666, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I have yahoo mail. Its alright, but its slower than gmail and there are more ads. Gmail is so plain and simple that the first time you use it, it feels like you've been using it for months.
- shagmin, on 09/13/2008, -1/+2I kind of picture a bunch of high level designers in meeting rooms saying "perhaps if we add ___ we can gain hits from people wanting this" and never going to the root of the problem.
- napsack, on 09/13/2008, -1/+2Really, thank you.
- shagmin, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1I agree on the news page. Apparently their designers thought people want to see the news when they login to check their e-mail.
Another thing that annoys me about their e-mail is half my legit e-mail goes into the spam folder and half of my spam goes into my inbox. I don't have that issue with gmail. But the biggest thing to me is the simplicity and lack of clutter I get with Google. - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Yahoo needs an enema
- kaph, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1While personally I couldn't agree with you more, Yahoo have been geared more towards being a "web portal" for a long time. If however I utilised more of those features I guess I would be more excited. I think this is a good move for them as it shows they are still willing to innovate (debatable I know) and move forward. This is good, as the internet needs a strong alternative to Google and if web traffic stats are anything to go by Yahoo is definitely a strong alternative. Maybe not as strong in the search statistics but on the web portal side of things they have their niche covered.
