- Joest23, on 07/21/2009, -4/+34I hope it's better than their current page. Their current page is a cluttered piece of garbage.
- krisrm, on 07/21/2009, -6/+36WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MORE ADVERTISEMENTS WITH YOUR ADVERTISEMENTS?!?!
- sindex, on 07/21/2009, -5/+34I can't wait for Yahoo to revamp their site. It really needs a way to look better while remaining completely irrelevant to my life.
- dizavin, on 07/21/2009, -8/+27give me a break, a YEAR in development? this is endgame strategy. Bing has more of a shot at competing with Google than Yahoo at this point.
it's like Duke Nukem Forever in the sense that if a product of any remote quality was ever going to come out of their effort, it would have happened relatively quick. there is a threshold you can cross when you are obviously spinning your wheels and wasting resources for no good reason. I think Yahoo has been in that situation for some time now and aren't likely to get out of that without firing *everyone* and rebuilding the entire company from scratch.
that or just bite the bullet and pack it in. - trobertharris, on 07/21/2009, -6/+23Still looks terrible.
- MCA2142, on 07/21/2009, -9/+26Solution: Remove all the ***** on the screen but the logo and search box.
Wait... That's google. - Zoshchenko, on 07/21/2009, -1/+14I hope they ad some more little icons and boxes and irrelevant links to ads. Make some of them flash too, to be sure they get attention.
No one flushed their opportunity to dominate the Internet more than Yahoo. Stupid and greedy. It's too late to fix it. Failure is the ONLY option. - enkideridu, on 07/21/2009, -0/+12Essentially, they added a 'bookmarks' bar into the page, and the only significant difference it has from the browser's bookmarks bar is that when you click it, the page you want to view will be much smaller, and a big ugly ad will show up next to it.
(I <3 run-on sentences) - MCA2142, on 07/21/2009, -0/+12you sir, have shut me up completely.
- pcpimpster, on 07/21/2009, -2/+14The page still looks like a bunch of text, ads and icons were just vomited onto it. I hate clutter.
- boomcubist, on 07/21/2009, -2/+14http://search.yahoo.com/ ;)
- DirtyVicar, on 07/21/2009, -0/+12Yep. Portal = internet within the internet. If I use it to go to the Go! Network portal maybe the whole thing will hit singularity and implode.
- pcpimpster, on 07/21/2009, -3/+14I feel sorry for you that Yahoo is your gateway to the information super-duper highway.
- magnanamos, on 07/21/2009, -1/+11Besides, how hard is it to remove everything but the logo and a search box?
- versualize, on 07/21/2009, -0/+9Yahoo! has a browser? Where can I get it?
- coit, on 07/21/2009, -3/+12Yawho?
- utahband, on 07/21/2009, -1/+10Look at that BIG ASS AD
- adventureindia, on 07/21/2009, -5/+13I believe this is going to help Yahoo. Yahoo really need to bring something new and innovative in the market for it's user so that it can compete with Google.
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -8/+151998 called. They want their web portal back.
- DirtyVicar, on 07/21/2009, -1/+8When using the word "revamped", you should always include a vampire reference.
- Forky, on 07/21/2009, -0/+7I kinda like flickr. And it's yahoo.

- Xplorer, on 07/21/2009, -1/+7So there might actually be more than 20 pixels of white space....
- DonCarcharo, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4I have no intentions of using Yahoo again for search any time soon no matter what fancy stuff they do to their home page. That said, I just visited their site for the first time in years and stumbled upon:
http://My.Yahoo.com
This is Yahoo's netvibes-ish custom news page and I have to say I kind of like it. I've been searching for a replacement news portal ever since ABCNews.com went from covering news to celebrity gossip. While My.Yahoo.com isn't perfect, it certainly has a better presentation than the eyesore Google calls its news page. - inactive, on 07/21/2009, -1/+5I can't remember EVER using yahoo to perform an internet search. I have used all the others.. since the days of webcrawler and altavista, but never yahoo. Always just thought the yahoo site was too slow and cluttered.
- nendoke, on 07/21/2009, -2/+6Why the hell are they always change the home page and every time come up with another garbage?
- duggtodeath, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4I work in web design and development. Getting a major corporation to launch a site in a year is actually quick. You have no idea how much ass-headery hovering over a project can cause it to stall, sputter and meander towards its goal. Blame every jackass in the company wanting a say in the new site. I once worked for a large design firm in New York who had a designer tasked to re-designing the home page. I left a year later and they still had not finalized his work. A year! A ***** year!
- ChiliMac, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4"offer original services"? OK, what original (and used) services does Google offer that Yahoo doesn't? There aren't many that come to mind off the top of my head.
- Xplorer, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4Oh dear god, my condolences....
No single soul should be forced to see that garbage, let alone hear it. - bsamuels453, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3I hope they add more selections on that sidebar like "OMG" and "Shine", where I have no ***** idea what they do.
- Fingersoup, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5Too Little. Too Late.
- ChiliMac, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3I love my My Yahoo page. Easy to use and fairly customizable. iGoogle just feels to cheap to me. But I do tend to use Google more than Yahoo search.
- hockeyjay96, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.yahoo.com
- iUnderwater, on 07/21/2009, -6/+9I dont like Yahoo
- Takuro, on 07/21/2009, -6/+9Another desperate attempt by Yahoo to appear semi-credible on the internet.
When will they learn that you have to offer original services to get peoples attention rather than offer crappier alternatives for things that are already out there and done quite well? - webadelic, on 07/21/2009, -1/+4and why do I want to view sites in a pop up surrounded by ads ? oh wait yahoo is now a ptc site..hahaha
- Narsilianshard, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3i don't care how new or innovative it is, if it still has celebrity news front and center i won't use it.
- theOster, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3i would love to be able to forward all messages to my gmail account.
- ccaazz, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3again? but on the other hand it looks fairly interesting from the screenshot
- Xplorer, on 07/21/2009, -1/+4Wouldn't it be the information special-highway in this case....
- natesnotjewish, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5Welcome to several years ago: http://search.yahoo.com/
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3This has got to be the worst comment ever. The irony of you making fun of their users and saying "they get stupid people who sign up for the internet and think they can only browse pages in the yahoo browser" just amazes me.
Well done sir, go back to AOL. - ChiliMac, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2It's easy. Click on the search button in the Yahoo page and you'll get just that.
- p4ddym, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2No doubt the new homepage will be as cluttered as the current one.
Will they ever learn? - bsamuels453, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3He's a troll boys, look at his name.
- ChiliMac, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Um, the partnership with AT&T hasn't died.
- bsamuels453, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2This is similar to how Internet Explorer is the most used web browser. Most versions of windows come preinstalled with Yahoo adware and ***** that sticks itself to the browser and never come off. Most computer users (read: average joe) are like "o so i guess thats where i do mah email since its on my internat windoe..." These people are usually not e-savvy enough to find out about gmail and associated services. Google figured this out and that's why they're working on an OS, because its the computer manufacturer who determines which OS goes onto the machine (and which email joe uses).
- clankypants, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2I use My.Yahoo too. I like it better than iGoogle. Unfortunately, it doesn't sync with my Thunderbird/Lightning like Google does. So I don't use it for anything productive, just as a quick way to check my Yahoo mail, the weather, stock market, and TV listings.
