- gr33k, on 02/15/2008, -4/+17Actually Yahoo brings alot to the table, there's certain aspects of yahoo.com that are used on a daily basis by millions across the globe (yahoo finance, yahoo sports, yahoo news) etc etc, Yahoo talking with the devil (News Corp) is a BAD idea, you think Fox news is bad now? imagine what will happen when that scum bag Murdoch gets his fat fingers into yahoo's global reach he'll poison the media even more then he does now for monetary gain, it'll be the end as we know it
- toasty168, on 02/15/2008, -3/+14dear god. rupert murdoch makes me want to throw up.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -2/+8Yeah at first I thought Yahoo was cool for trying to fend off Microsoft. Now they want to marry Rupert Murdoch I have lost all respect for them. And I also wonder why Google feels so threatened by Microsoft + Yahoo. Google has nearly 70% of internet searches. Sounds like a real monopoly to me. I think Google has spent years fostering a bad boy rogue company image when in fact its a huge profit hungry corporation not much different from Microsoft. Behind every serge and brin is a group of black suit and tie investors hungry for returns. anyhow, Microsoft has monopoly on computer software. Google has monopoly on the internet. Neither is willing to lose their share and will do anything to keep their share from dropping. I think eventually people will realize Google isn't as holy as the company seems. My father a programmer says Microsoft used to have a good image too. Way long ago.
- fnv2001, on 02/15/2008, -0/+4I don't think Yahoo is being "lame" for trying to get a higher bid. In fact, it's a very smart business decision, given the exorbitant amounts of money at play here. If Microsoft is offering 44 billion, then surely they'll take it to 46 or 48, if pressed. It's called bargaining.
- l2OI3, on 02/15/2008, -1/+5I don't think diggers have very strong feelings on yahoo, and at the end of the day most people on digg use windows.
- textman, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2Microsoft will just go on with a proxy vote if necessary.
- perrym, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2some people are crazy. if newscorp. has a bit of yahoo so what?
btw, at present time, newscorp has deals with both google (search on myspace) and microsoft (fox sports on msn).
now they are talking about myspace and yahoo.
it wont be the end of the world, calm down a little folks. - drjekelmrhyde, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2Yahoo has been in talks with them for awhile trying to pry Myspace from them for a 25% stake in Yahoo
- perrym, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2Rupert Murdoch probably has more "global reach" than yahoo. He has assets in many various forms of media throughout the world.
"it'll be the end as we know it"
you need to calm down a little. - funkywood, on 02/15/2008, -0/+1Newscorp would be a better 'fit' for Yahoo than MS. Yahoo is more a media company than a search company and maybe that's what Microsoft is after but they are too different to merge. Either would still be bad for Yahoo users though.
- shimbee, on 02/15/2008, -3/+4The ugly step-sister of social networking: MySpace
- londubh, on 02/15/2008, -3/+4If either Microsoft or News Corps buys Yahoo I'm leaving them.
- FutureGuy, on 02/15/2008, -1/+2If this goes through I would "really" feel bad for yahoo employees, what's worse then working for murdoch (don't even bring up MS)
- ScrewedThePooch, on 02/15/2008, -0/+1Why can't these ***** do their own work instead of trying to be bought up? I've used Yahoo for years, because all my mail went to the same place since high school. As of yesterday, I finally switched to Gmail. I'm so sick of these ***** mergers and buyouts. The only people getting ***** by this are the CONSUMERS!
- TizzleDizz, on 02/15/2008, -1/+2This is *****. Google is going with Newscorp. Good luck.
- TheWindBlows, on 02/15/2008, -0/+1Lets say you have two options.
1) Continue working and holding a company just to keep some people on the internet happy.
2) Retire with several billion dollars and have it "Not be your problem".
What would you choose as a business owner...
Personallly I'd go for 2 Retire have a stable amount of money go home to a nice family not have to do much of anything anymore enjoy the rest of my life with kids, friends, wife, etc... - dmightx, on 09/21/2008, -0/+1Doesn't yahoo work with Atnt already?
- sadilak, on 02/15/2008, -1/+2I dont know what yahoo brings to the table, but I know for sure that if you have an email account with Yahoo, they bring a lot of spam into your mailbox..
- ScrewedThePooch, on 02/15/2008, -0/+1Actually, I've had Yahoo! mail for years and the only spam I get is from external sources (and very little at that). The one thing i absolutely hate about them is that they flag my college's e-mails as spam, so they take days to get to me sometimes.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -1/+1It's a smart strategy. News Corp will not destroy Yahoo, but MS will. Go Yahoo!
- KibibyteBrain, on 02/15/2008, -4/+4I agree with the sentiment that Newscorp would be even worse for yahoo than MSFT, but how is this a "lame ploy". Yahoo! shocked much of the media by attacking Microsoft's bid as being too low, and now they are merely showing that indeed Microsoft was not the only party that was interested in them and so their value claims may not have been baseless.(supply and demand) How is that a ploy, thats just economics last I read.
- gr33k, on 02/15/2008, -1/+1You're one of his bitches aren't you?
- GramarNatzi, on 02/15/2008, -1/+0For the love of god, is there anything Newscorp wont wrap its slimey tentacles around? I'd rather consult my magic eight ball for the truth about current affairs than any of Murdoch's outlets.
- atmancloud, on 02/15/2008, -1/+0I have to say these big CEO's of the world only in it for themselves, gain control and power. When are we the people going to fight back? um. What yahoo needs to do is listen to the people, instead of thinking about money-sometimes listening can give an edge to success.
- vladimirlemon, on 02/15/2008, -2/+0Perhaps a fusion is in order.
- colincornaby, on 02/15/2008, -3/+1Oooo, this is a good one. Which one is more evil? Microsoft or News Corp.?
- omgwhereami, on 02/15/2008, -2/+0Just because people use the Operating System doesn't mean they like the company that makes it. Kind of like eating cake. God knows we love cake, but some bakers are just ***** who just happened to be in a more convenient location that other, nicer bakers. Some ***** bakers live across your street and call the police every time you have people over and want to turn your music up just a ***** decibel above a whisper and you get a $60 ticket even though his son peels out every time he leaves the house playing his rap music louder than a jet engine. Their delicious cake gives them a reason to exist.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -4/+1Step sister? Hate to tell you, but the LEADING social networking site is not a step sister.
No one gives a ***** about what YOU like! Is it possible that you don't understand that yet? - kckman, on 02/15/2008, -7/+3the end as we know it would be Yahoo swallowed whole by MS. The "Yahoo" community abhors MS, like many of us here on DIGG do, and will stop at almost nothing to see the acquisition attempt fall flat on its face.
- breeder, on 02/15/2008, -7/+2What does Yahoo bring to the table?!? declining search market share?!?
- xdcc, on 02/15/2008, -13/+1Apple should buy them.

What is Digg?
