- bixby1, on 02/05/2009, -1/+20I was in an theater the other day and when they told us to turn off our cell phones a 6-year-old in front of me silenced his phone,- did it with one hand too. I guess the market is saturated.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10Guess people don't have disposable income for ANOTHER phone when the 1st one is fine
- shoppingkart, on 02/06/2009, -0/+5Meanwhile, ostracized biatches are talking and texting more often.
- NidStyles, on 02/06/2009, -0/+3No only if there were some decent phone's on the market, and better yet, decent phone companies.
- Avalontor, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2in your opinion
- schnikies79, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1I know several people that just aren't upgrading because their current phone is doing everything they need.
I know I don't upgrade every year like I used to, now it's every 3 or 4 years. - cadmiumpaint, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1i was planning to buy a smart phone this year but i'll prob wait at least 6 months. I don't want the extra expense right now for new hardware and a data plan added on to my monthly bill.
- jamshid, on 02/17/2009, -0/+1And most phones people do want to upgrade to (iPhone, Blackberry) require a data plan commitment, an extra $20-40/mo they can't afford in this economy.
- jamshid, on 02/17/2009, -0/+1Some mobile service providers already offer the ability to route mobile phone calls over your home broadband. Hopefully that means that finally, after 25 years of cell phones and countless network upgrades, including the transition from analog to digital, mobile phone calls (at least at home) will sound as good as a landline.

Of course, it's a growing sliver and soon enough most people will own a smartphone, except for the poor in developing nations who will have to make do with recycled RAZRs for a while longer.
FTA: If there was one highlight in 2008 it was that the converged mobile devices segment (commonly referred to as smartphones) grew 22.5% over 2007, clearly outpacing the rest of the industry. - jamshid, on 02/17/2009, -0/+1It would be cooler if you sourced that, but after reading how keyboards are made, I wouldn't be surprised.

- kjlowe, on 02/06/2009, -2/+2RIM Apple and HTC aren't mentioned. Three companies with the best OSes.
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -2/+1Hopefully this will slow down the slave labor involved in mining the material used in cell phones...no one seems to know about that.
