- downneck, on 01/29/2009, -3/+129$180,000 for a cloned dog.
what the ***** is wrong with you people?
go rescue a dog in need from a pound, donate the $180k to a worthwhile charity, and make the world a better place. - Lucas123, on 01/28/2009, -5/+56In reality, they buried Lancey in the pet cemetery out back. Said the owners, "Remarkably, he came back to life and is perfectly fine now. He just smells bad, seems a bit wary of us and stares a lot ..."
- drmobutu, on 01/28/2009, -7/+57Ridiculous...how do they even know the dog is a clone, and not just another Lab (pun intended) puppy?
- AshamedAmerican, on 01/29/2009, -0/+45RePet.
- AndrewMoyer, on 01/29/2009, -0/+34Dog oldDog = new Dog("Sir Lancelot");
oldDog.destroy();
Dog newDog = oldDog.clone();
--> Error on line 3: Access violation; Zombie dog clone created. - inactive, on 01/29/2009, -1/+32I wonder if the cloned dog will behave like the old dog.
- superherogirl, on 01/29/2009, -9/+36does anyone else find this a little creepy?
dugg anyway because there's a picture of a puppy and im a chick. - widdershins, on 01/29/2009, -0/+26I would expect for $180,000 you'd have the clone's DNA checked by an independent lab.
- JMCtg, on 01/29/2009, -1/+25Who is this "Delighted" fellow the title speaks of?
- Maynza, on 01/29/2009, -1/+24I accidentally the title.
- drmobutu, on 01/29/2009, -2/+23Well, that explains everything...
- billbugger, on 01/29/2009, -2/+23It'll be a good experiment in Nature vs Nurture
- marcduke, on 01/29/2009, -1/+16You paid $1500+ for a Wind-up Toy? Yeesh.....
http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient ... - SteaminTmann, on 01/29/2009, -2/+17When a pet dies, its very sad, we all know, but part of it is educational. It helps you cope and learn how to deal with loss. Basically learning how the world works. You need to experience the full gamut of emotions in order to handle them in a healthy way.
- Kojangie, on 01/29/2009, -1/+16Dugg for alliteration.
- superherogirl, on 01/29/2009, -0/+14"I'm not a clone!"
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -0/+14Oh *****, REPET! Stop them now before they get a hold of Arnold.
- jsdratm, on 01/29/2009, -0/+14Yeah that guy was creepy. I saw a video about him on archive.org. Picture a still-living severed dog head blinking and looking around because a blood pump is hooked up to its major arteries and veins. PETA would ***** brix
- hebejebelus, on 01/29/2009, -0/+13The whole thing?
- thaprinze, on 01/29/2009, -3/+16I digg you, cuz you're a chick.
- jeffwmartin, on 01/29/2009, -2/+14In other news, thousands of unwanted dogs were euthanized today.
$180,000 for a puppy that looks just like their old dog. Curiously, it looks just like a lot of Labs. It's not like they transferred their old dog's personality and brain into the puppy. I hope the dog chews up their furniture and ***** on the floor daily. - billbugger, on 01/29/2009, -2/+13"He also keeps lunging at our neck and trying to nibble, I think he's just happy to see us."
- smashblu, on 01/29/2009, -2/+13Seems like a waste of money when there are tons of dogs in the pound that need homes. Also since personality is a product of how the dog is raised, it wont be the same. Still, it's cool that it can be done.
- LeadStripes, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11It's not the same dog! It may have the same DNA, but it can look completely different and it will not have the same character.
Why not get a dog from an animal shelter? - 2Bnor2B, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11I would be more curious how other dogs that knew original Sir Lancelot behave towards the clone. A dog's scent is unique. I would assume that a clone has the same markers.
- TKDGIT, on 01/29/2009, -1/+11I can understand someone missing their dog, but making a dog with the same DNA doesn't make it the same dog. Let the dog you loved go and when you're ready, head to your local shelter and give another deserving dog a chance. I loved my lab and still got misty for years after at certain dog food commercials. She was sweet, smart and a wonderful companion...But I'm not going to spend $180,000 to get her back. I was happy "donating" $400 dollars to an organization called "Friends of Homeless Animals" and taking home a sweet little rescue pup. He's never going to be the same as my old dog, and that's OK! They're both perfect the way they are/were.
- isleshocky77, on 01/29/2009, -0/+10Check how many dots are on the inside the eye lid
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -0/+10Really, what is wrong with these people...
My two dogs are rescues and you couldn't ask for better. When it's their time, it's their time.
If you want to clone something, clone me a Lamborghini. - MxM111, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9Not if accidentally
- Timmyftw, on 01/30/2009, -0/+9http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=pu ...
- Floodle, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9They'd be like identical twins and everybody knows one of them is always evil
- nybble41, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8The whole point of cloning is that the genetics *aren't* altered. Nothing new is being introduced into "the wild".
- euroh, on 01/29/2009, -2/+10nerd
- serif69, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8Is that bad?
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -2/+10I saw the couple on the Today Show this morning. Congrats to them for putting this together. Just an interesting fact, the guy's father was the co-founder of Nascar.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8Generally a lot of science companies that do commercial work like this use the money to fund further research. So while it might be a complete waste of money at least the profits might be used to further research the field.
- charlietuna, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8As a volunteer dog walker who regularly meets abandoned animals on doggie death row, I can only shake my head.
- askantik, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8It wasn't anyone who has ever been charitable's job to be so, they did it because it was the right thing to do.
- KarlH, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8The clone will behave exactly like their old dog ... once they have transplanted its brain that they have secretly kept alive in a jar in the basement. Mouhahaha!
- Mtdewrulz, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7I was thinking the same thing. Most labs look reasonably similar. You could just make up some crap about phenotype traits making their appearance differ slightly.
- hamobu, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7I wonder if the cloned dog will have any medical problems that cloned creatures sometimes have.
- timusca, on 01/29/2009, -1/+8So we should never give to charity because ultimately it was someone else's mistake? Jesus, talk about selfish.
- se7en11, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7I buried because there are no girls on digg...
- MrAsparagus, on 01/29/2009, -2/+8World's first commercially cloned dog delivered to delighted... Delight... ? DELIGHTED?!
Delighted what dammit!? Delighted rancor? Delighted Hadicapped crawling blob?!
WHAAATT?! Make it stop!!! - RobotBuddha, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Personality for most mammals has a 'very' heavy genetic element to it. In particular with dogs, where we've been actively breeding them for personality type.
- dylbrwn2, on 01/29/2009, -1/+7Wtf are you talking about Rabbethan?
- timusca, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6So how many of you clicked on her profile to see if she was hot?
- MegaMegan17, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6This blew my mind, I am not sure if I am ok with it or not :/
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5And how many think that she is actually pretty hot?
- dacheetah, on 01/30/2009, -0/+5That is a genuinely interesting question...
Would the other dog care that Lancelot is suddenly much younger and no longer remembers them? Or would they go right to playing in the same manner? -
