Working Digg - another look at the LATEST Digg corruption scandal.
480x.com — Another article (backed with research) that analyzes the "Top 30 circle-jerk" scandal threatening the community of Digg today. Latest is emphasised as a similar, yet much more far-reaching, scandal was uncovered earlier this year involving 14 diggers, including founder Kevin Rose, promoting A List Apart. I would like to see a response from Rose.

www.digg.com/software/Is_Digg_being_Rigged_More_data- Vicious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Well, that's the last straw so to speak. Even with 52 diggs in just over an hour, this article will never reach the front page for the world to see. Check out the cloud view of all upcoming stories:

The top story is currently "The rebuilding of Ground Zero", yet it has only 46 diggs. This story is nowhere to be found, appearing nowhere on the upcoming stories list. You cannot search for it and find it. And it hasn't been buried. It has been invisibly smote by a Digg administrator.
I'm not longer going to be using Digg due to ninja moderation by the runners of the site, I would suggest you give your page views to another social news-aggregator.
Vicious out. - Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Page doesn't exist.
- Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Yes it does...just not when you drag that link into the address box.
- chad78, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm not a top 30. (I am a top 50, but no one is complaining about me ... yet.) So as an outsider to this little *ahem* "top 30 circle jerk" (I did not make that up) I must say ... Who cares? You know, if 30 or 20 or 50 or 90 people want to digg each other's stories - let them. I digg my friend's stories. I also report my friends as inaccurate when need be. I also ignore some of their stories. Am I more prone to digg stories from my friends? Of course. But I also scan the upcoming stories as well. I think if more of the bitchers would start doing *that* (scan the upcomings) they'd (a) see that the top 30 submit more stories than the vast majority (b) see that the top 30's stories are better - (better quality and better titles/descriptions) - than most other stories and (c) START HAVING MORE CONTROL OF WHAT'S ON THE FRONT PAGE. You don't control what's on the front page by only reading / digging front page stories. You don't control the front page by just doing that and submitting a few stories and then bitching when it doesn't get to the front page. You have to digg non-front-page stories.
I'm submitting this comment to all the stories about this garbage. - gpd209, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I recognize a handful of the members of this so-called "circle jerk" because, it turns out, I frequently enjoy their stories and comments. I have no idea--I just digg their stuff because it is frequently interesting to me.
There is some strange sense of competition among many Digg users that I just don't understand. Why the compulsive need to point out every "dupe", as if it matters that a similar story gets posted more than once? Why do people preface their comments with "I know I'm going to get dugg down...", as if there is something wrong with others using Digg's features to express their own opinions? And now a bunch of conspiracy theories about the algorithm for promoting stories to the front page, as if people's feelings are hurt that their submissions just aren't very popular.
If you take a look at the stories I have submitted, you'll see that the average number of votes I've received is approximately 5. Pretty pathetic, eh? But why should I care? Others don't agree with me that those stories are interesting--it's just that simple. - zybch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Chad, you sir are an utter *****.
Just repeating the same lame trash over and over and over again in digg.com and on other sites does NOT make you right or lend any credance to your carbon copy clone arguments.
Nobody gives a ***** whether you're in the top 30, 50, 100!
You obviously haven't understood the point that this story and all the others you are spamming are trying to make.
Just STFU and go back to blindly digging up your 'friend's' stories so you can "read them later"
You *****!

- BufordT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Dugg for use of the term "Top 30 circle-jerk"
- Vicious, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Why thank you BufordT, glad to see you appreciate my coining of a phrase. I sometimes fancy myself a modern day Shakespeare, only to be jolted back to reality.

- yevkasem, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4"scandal was uncovered earlier this year involving 14 diggers, including founder Kevin Rose"
wasn't that already explained?
this is another one of those articles that has the simple solution of "go get your news elsewhere if you don't like it here".- Vicious, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7No, that was most certainly NOT explained.
12 of those members were banned and all traces of them having been a part of Digg were summarily destroyed. Kevin Rose was obviously not included in those 12.
Questions still remain such as:
Why did Kevin Rose fall into the exact digging order on both of the A List Apart stories?
What is Kevin Rose's relationship with A List Apart, does he have any financial or personal stake in that entity?
Was this one group isolated in gaming Digg in that way?
Did the group have any specifc agenda in promoting products or producing hype to inflate a specific stock on Wall Street?
The questions remaining are endless.. - mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4http://www.twit.tv/twit51
- raj3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do you really think that kevin would jeopordize Digg's integrity (and in turn his own financial future), by using a bot to promote stories on *his own website*?
- Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WTF would Kevin use a bot for?! He has access to the digg database!! He could add 2000 diggs to every story if he felt like it.
- Vicious, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7No, that was most certainly NOT explained.
- aura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have nothing agaist moderation (/. is a good example), but it's secret moderation I find curious.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Erm, ever considered the non paranoid-conspiracy-theory option ::
The stories >are interesting - steeel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I wanna see this on the front page... If it doesnt then I will be sad
- zybch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You're probably going to be sad then :(
- swin101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you read the article update, he doesn't want the article dugg...but this voice needs to be heard. Nice research.
- jdmorek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wtf . Release this to the fp or me and my 100 friend circle will be leaving digg
- steeel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am starting to lose faith on digg as well. I used to share links to interesting articles, etc with my dad almost everyday.
Now I hardly ever find anything worth sending.
