- jorhyne1, on 10/10/2007, -7/+184I sure hope woot doesn't change too much. The small guy kooky atmosphere is what makes it so awesome.
- toastgodsupreme, on 10/10/2007, -28/+193Yahoo is such a huge barrel of fail.
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -17/+161Making money at what you do = selling out
No one is in business to be indie. - ZackS, on 10/10/2007, -3/+110It's ok guys. This is all part of Woot's plan for total world domination using Roombas.
- PleaseBeSerious, on 10/10/2007, -1/+95Yahoo didn't buy Woot. Woot is putting a second woot on the Yahoo Shopping homepage. Woot.com remains. Tomorrow's woot will be a guide to reading comprehension.
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -40/+123This is sad.
- ChayD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+40Kudos for the brutal honesty, though; QTA "Woot and Yahoo! will be partners in a new venture we’re calling Sellout.Woot. (We’d link to the front page right now, but we can’t, exactly. More on that in a minute.) If you need a light for your cigar, you can use one of our new hundred-dollar bills."
- dbre2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+40The way I read it is it will be different from the regular woot.com
"The upshot is that Sellout.Woot will offer a Woot-style daily deal that’s different from the one on Woot.com, seven days a week."
So there will still be woot.com, wine.woot.com and shirt.woot.com...now theres also going to be sellout.woot.com - ejdmoo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37RTFA...
They haven't been bought by Yahoo!, and by all accounts, the normal www.woot.com will stay the same. They're just letting Yahoo! use their branding for a daily deal. - isewise, on 10/10/2007, -6/+31I don't know, it could be for the better. I've sat through a couple of Woot offs, and I get tried of see some lame mp3 player slow down the whole thing or better yet is the Chucky Cheese's style basketball hoop. I think the partnership with yahoo could bring better products and better deals, but a bigger audience will make it much harder to get bags of crap or maybe more bags of crap..... Lets not start spreading FUD prematurely. We'll see tonight.
- sagat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+27Congrats to the woot team, they worked hard built on a great idea and reaped the financial rewards, no hate only jealousy.
- SmackMyMac, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27I like the idea of two woots.
Two woots a day keeps the gadget itches away. - EelfinnTy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Yahoo did NOT buy Woot.
To be clear, this is not an announcement of a yahoo investment in woot, nor a newly formed operational corporate entity/partnership thing this is two sites teaming up to share ideas and traffic. -Snapster Woot Staff
Woot and Yahoo! will be partners in a new venture we’re calling Sellout.Woot. hence the Sell out - Icebird, on 10/10/2007, -7/+28They better have a Bandolier of Carrots to celebrate this at midnight...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17You owe every digger $10. Will that be cash or charge?
- Hipple, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15I wonder how many read that comment and wonder what the hell a bandolier of carrots is. The Uninitiated!
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17I hope the only thing that changes is a small logo in the bottom corner....
- RobotChicken1, on 03/07/2008, -2/+13I would have dugg you up for praising it but this just sounds like an ad.
- jrod311, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14not ribs
- CCoe, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Stop with the ***** 4chan!
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11i just got my wine.woot from the ups guy like 20 minutes ago. yay, drunken madness at my house tonight!
- Bartboy919, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13The whole point of woot is to provide low prices on one item a day. I think they would fail if Yahoo charged to much
- lucidapathy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10As a long time woot user, I have to say this is by far the funniest comment in the thread. You win.
- spukeesan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10It shouldn't change much at all. The new offering is through Yahoo!'s shopping page, and entirely separate from woot's own site - even the daily deals will be different per site. Don't like Yahoo!? Don't go to Yahoo! I'm just glad to hear that a website I like is now profitable enough to get to stick around for a while.
- InfiniteNothing, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13At least the servers won't crash as much anymore.
- kendawg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9what the *****?
- SimonUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Ten Bucks is a liar.
- ebob9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Today's Woot:
Our Company
$1,999,999,999
+ $5.00 shipping.
I want 3 - Hickeroar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I think this is great. this gives you a second possible woot item to look at every day. Woot is still 100% woot...plus they get traffic from Yahoo. Their first deal is a pod coffee maker with loads of coffee for $10 + $5 shipping. They sell for LOADS more than that in retail stores. All around I think this is great. Sadly people never RTFA and find out the details of the deal. Woot didn't actually "Sell out" to anyone.
- zacharyseibert, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8did you even read the article
- jordanday, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12NO U
- SillyRabbits, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Just to answer my own question. Here's how the woot staff responded on their own forums to someone that asked a similar question.
xxxxxxx wrote:Does this mean that Yahoo will have access to all of out account information, including credit card numbers? And does this include Yahoo's spyware?
Woot Staff: there is no sharing of anything but the deals which will show on shopping.yahoo.com. you click-through to get to the dot.woot store (so like shirt.woot and wine.woot). you should not use your woot login on yahoo (nor your yahoo login on woot) unless you unadvisedly have the same one on both sites. - CyberSteve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7yes, you were the only one
- BossKey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6And the Leakfrogs. The Leakfrogs will be the advance shock troops for the Roombas.
- sexybobo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8yes wouldn't want anything to happen to the community that ask if a taco set is mac compatible. or spams lol cat the entire woot off.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Woot is still going to be there, they just partnered for Yahoo for a separate venture.
- Icyfenix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6They didn't sell out. You don't sell out to Google. You Assimilate.
Resistance Is Futile. - Disfnord, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5With a name like that, I had to look.
- stuffok, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5http://sellout.woot.com now forwards to Yahoo! shopping.. actually
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I don't know... Woot's not public so it's not like they could initiate a hostile takeover.
- zeptobyte, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That wasn't what I got from the article. o_O
- crgnetworks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6OMGWTFBBQ!
- sockpuppets, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6That must just leave nambla.com?

- Dhalgren, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4To be fair, I only say it after having sex with your mom...
- Pyrogen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Ok, and... Its necrotic tissue in someone's lower leg, exposing tendons and *****. Was this an attempt at shock value?
- wilf_brim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5wine.woot.com ftw. They have awesome deals. I'm deployed away from my house and have a chiller filled with wine.woot.com goodness I can't wait to get back to. The hangovers will be worth it.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Well put.
